If you're a bit tech savvy, you could look into bringing a cheap wireless router down and connecting that via the in-room wired. This would be ~$9.95 per 24 hours and if you can get it set up via phone (and whatever you know about wireless networks) should, theoretically, work.

True I could try this but I'd have to use data on my phone to get it set up. So that won't work. Data roaming charges are retarded expensive. I should really just look into buying a cheap U.S cell phone so I don't need to worry about paying through the roof to keep in touch with people while I'm there. I was hoping to save a little hassle by trying to get on Disney internet but by the sounds of it, it's too expensive. Thanks for the info though!

There is WiFi available in the lobby/convention area and also at the Digsite main pool area. It cost $10 a day, same as the high speed, but you have to be in those areas to access it. We used it last Dec by the pool.

Don't they have the free internet trial still going on in Casitas 1, 2, and 3. Or has that stopped?

Actually, we requested Ranchos 7B for our upcoming trip because DS likes the theme of this section the most (and we are celebrating him this trip). I can see why others wouldn't like it...the Ranchos section is the most sparsely landscaped (designed to look like a dessert), but we like this. Also, as previously mentioned, it is the section furthest from the main building, but we would prefer to be closer to the main pool than the lobby...and we walk a lot anyways, we don't mind the distance. We requested 7B specifically because out of the Ranchos buildings, this one is closest to the main building and is also really close to the quiet pool and the Cabanas section bus stop. We can't wait to stay here!

We love the Ranchos theme. Maybe it is just so different from the Northeast! Love the stream beds, the palm trees and the rock gardens. Great bus transportation as well.:banana:

Morning all...
I'm just curious to know if CSR has been honoring room requests? We are 36 days out and I will be faxing my requests over next week. We stayed at Cabanas 8A last year and loved it so we are hoping for Cabanas this year...
I will be asking for a 1 st floor and at Cabanas.. has anyone had success with requests? O had heard since they had changed their reservation system, that this might not be honored, so im wondering.....

Thanks DIS'ers

They are still honoring requests, but not by fax. Since you can't request Cabanas during online check-in, you would need to do that by phone on your reservation prior to online check-in. You can call the resort up to 3 days in advance to see if they noted your request.

Ohhh. I was unaware of this. Last year they recommended that u fax your request, so thank you for letting ne know this! I will call WDW today to add this on to my ressie.

For a while after the other resorts stopped looking at faxes, the CSR still was (maybe because it is a "convention" resort). However, when the new system went into effect that the computer assigns the rooms, the faxes were no longer looked at.

Good luck...I hope you get your request.

I returned on Tuesday night from 5 nights at CSR! :sad1: Here is my review:

Room Location: I had requested Cabanas top floor. I was assigned Ranchos 7B top floor. I asked if there was anything available in Cabanas, but there was only a first floor room. I decided to keep the Ranchos room (the two buildings offered were right next to each other anyway). We stayed in Room 7783 facing the Ranchos quiet pool. It was an awkward location. It wasn't too far from a bus stop, but not particularly close either. It was pretty close to the Dig Site, but that didn't matter at all to us. It was a good hike up to El Centro, especially in the heat. I didn't time it, but my guess would be a bit less than 10 minutes. It was a very pretty walk, though. The biggest issue, however, was the other guests at the resort. Apparently, there was a boys' soccer tournament going on, and it seemed like the resort (especially the Ranchos area) was filled with young boys. They were LOUD - screaming, laughing, and running, the worst being at the "quiet" pool up until 11-11:30PM! If you like a quiet room, do NOT get one facing a pool. I thought we'd be all right considering it wasn't the main pool - lesson learned!

Food: We ate at the Pepper Market twice, once for lunch on our arrival day, and once for dinner. I had the chicken fajitas and the pasta bolognese. The fajitas were very good, including the rice and beans. The pasta was just okay (I should have known not to order pasta at a Mexican-themed resort)! My mom had the steak Ranchero and chicken alfredo pasta. She said both were very good. Pepper Market was a bit confusing our first time (we got the food to go that time). I didn't know where to get our drinks, as all other food courts I have been to have a self-serve soda fountain. FYI- when you get your food to go, get your drinks at the bar! Also, if you have a refillable mug, you can get bottled water at the bar as your drink if you're on the dining plan. :thumbsup2 Our server didn't tell us this - the CM working the register did. :confused3 Desserts/baked goods at both Pepper Market and Rix Cafe were delicious! We tried the chocolate cake, Oreo cake, strawberry shortcake, gelato, cookies, muffins, and danish - all wonderful! I was disappointed at the selection of drinks for the refillable mugs. There was only one diet option (Coke). I try not to drink caffeine, so I didn't want to get Coke all of the time. Also, I don't drink coffee, so in the morning, I ended up getting orange soda. :upsidedow I would have loved the light lemonade they seem to have everywhere else, or even a sweetened iced tea (there was only unsweetened).

All in all, I enjoyed my stay at CSR. I think my experience would have been much more positive if the soccer tournament was not in the picture. But the resort/grounds were gorgeous and service was very good. We got a Minnie Mouse head towel animal one day. Would I stay at CSR again? Maybe. POP is my favorite resort, but it tends to be loud. I thought staying at CSR would solve that problem (our stays at CBR have always been very quiet), but the noise level on this trip was higher than any other I have experienced. If I did stay again, I would be careful of what groups/conferences were staying there at the same time, avoid rooms near pool areas, and request a building closer to El Centro. :)

Thanks for the review. I'm sorry for the soccer group, and especially them being in the quiet pool at 11 at night (the quiet pools close at 9 p.m.!). You are in the exact location I have requested so it will be interesting to see if I get it). I guess we've been fortunate with the "convention" groups we've had (and we've had at least one or two each of our nine visits thus far) and they've always been quiet.

I'm glad you thought the resort was beautiful (I do too!). And I'm glad that everyone you ran into was friendly.

If you stay again, perhaps get a preferred room which are located in Casitas 1, 2 and 3--all very near the main building and none by any pool.

Thanks again for coming back and posting your thoughts...much appreciated.

Adding some photos I took - I wish I had taken more, but it was either pouring rain or too hot to walk around more than necessary. I never even made it to the Casitas section!

Actually, the quiet pools close at midnight. Believe me, I checked the sign, because I was ready to call the front desk to complain! Luckily, we stay up pretty late, and I brought earplugs, so sleeping wasn't an issue. I actually slept really well! There was another convention there the first few days (children with diabetes :guilty:), but there was no problem with those guests.

They must extend the quiet pool hours over the summer (when we go in September, they are only open until 9, while the main pool is open later).

It really does depend on "who" the group is and "who" is supervising.

Great pictures!

Does anyone have a picture of the inside of a Junior Suite? I want to see the 2 beds in the bedroom and the extra bed in the living area. Thank you.

Junior Suite pictures are in Post 2 of this thread. The second room -- the bed is in the sofa.

Thanks for the report! I was at CSR this past Dec and had a wonderful first floor corner room in Cabanas 9A. The front window faced out toward the lake and a hammock and the side window faced the Cabana quiet pool. If you walked out my door and turned right you were maybe twelve steps from the pool. It was a wonderful location. I never saw anyone in that pool however (too cold that trip:rotfl:) and never heard a sound the days I was there. It was very, very quiet all week, but I can imagine how loud it would have been if there'd been a bunch of kids in it. Sorry, they spoiled your stay.

The loudest rooms I've ever had were at AKL and CBR a few years ago. Both times we had really, really loud neighbors.

I'll be back at CSR in Sept and then again in Nov/Dec and am hoping for a first floor room in the Cabanas again.

We will be checking in 9/13 with dd 16, dd2,ds2 and we are not sure what building we should request? We want to be close to the main building for food , close to a bus stop and close to the play ground, and the main pool. We are in a double queen room.
Can anyone help me please. This is our first time at this resort.
Thanks

Unfortunately, there is no way to be close to all of those things. The main building (food, gift shop, registration, lounge) are on one side of the lake and the main pool is on the other side of the lake. I would suggest you request Cabanas 8A; we were in this location last year and it is a very short walk to the main pool and about five minutes to the main building over the bridge. It is also close to a bus stop.
