Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

So I'll try to keep this short. My wife faxed over our room request yesterday, but didn't have time to confirm that they got it. I called last night to confirm and found out that the building we wanted 9A is closed due to the pool rehab. Okay makes sense. Then when I meantion that we have a King bed reservation, they don't see it. They only see water view. DW and I thought that they upgraded us for free to a water view with a King bed.

Anyway we are told there are no King rooms available. I tried to explain nicely that we booked and paid for a King bed room. She then transfers me over to Michael (a room assigner at CSR). He explains that he does not show us as having booked a king bed. He asks if we have anything stating that we booked a king bed. As it turns out we did. We have 5 reservation confirmations. The first 2 say King and the last 3 say water view. Michael asks us to print them out and bring them with. It looks like the system some how changed our reservation. He says that he's going to try to get us into a King room. Of course when we ask if he's going to be there this weekend he says no. We don't know what to do. We know we want to be on the second floor. We wanted to be in the Cababas section. I wondering if I should call today and talk to a manager. I tried to see what was available on the Disney site at CSR for the time we are there and it looks like the resort is book solid. I don't know what to do. We don't want to be in at the back of the resort either.

Anyone got any ideas? All of a sudden we have a lot of anxiety. We paid for a king room and are used to sleeping in a king. It's our anniversary celebration we don't want to sleep in seprate beds, but we also don't really want to be in at the back of the resort.

Calling you actually go to a "call center" and NOT to the CSR. Now, they could have transferred you to a room assignor, but I don't really know if they can do that.

Do as Michael said and bring ALL of your paperwork with you and explain it is your anniversary, etc., and you really want a king room. They did NOT close Cabana 9A because of the pool being refurbished (they never close rooms because of a pool undergoing a refurb); if Cabana 9A is not available, ask to be in Casitas 4 or Casitas 5. If you get no where with the CM at the desk, ask to speak to an Assistant Manager or a Manager and explain the situation to you. Who knows...in the long run you might even get an upgrade. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you...and try to relax.

"Welcome Home, Aubriee." And this from my friend who hated the CSR!!!! :rotfl2:

I'm so glad you are coming "home", but only wish you could have gotten the dates you wanted so that we could see you (we will miss you by five days).

Hey, you and the other Kathy converted me!:rotfl::rotfl:

Sorry to miss you guys, but glad I was able to switch my Sept ressie from POFQ to CSR. The CM really tried to keep my same Sept 24th-Oct 2nd dates, but couldn't get me into CSR for that week using either the GP code I had used back when I originally booked in Jan nor the bounceback code. She also couldn't get me in either the week before or the week after using either code, so we had to go two weeks before. I also couldn't get the exact week I wanted in Dec either. It seemed like the bounceback rooms may have been a little more limited than they've been in past years.

Cross your fingers that I get somewhere in my preferred Cabanas section. Although I think I'd happily stay in the Ranchos as long as their beds are more comfortable than the new ones at POFQ were this past week. lol

If you were going at the same time we are there (May 26-31), we would have switched with you. We only booked a king room because they did not have any rooms available with 2 queen beds.

Hope you get the king room that you wanted!

our first trip to coronado springs will be in september. these questions have most defenetely been asked in previous posts but i wonder if some of you wouldnt mind answering again. i have a couple of questions about peppermarket and the refillable mugs. are bottled drinks available when you get your meals at peppermarket? also what locations can we refill the refillable mugs? if i am on a dining plan do i have to pay the 10 percent in pepper market?

Just wanted to post to say....that this time next week I will be checking in to Coronado Springs! It will be our 15th stay at the resort :goodvibes

EDITED TO ADD: This was my 3000th post :goodvibes:

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you for all the great info about the resort. I leave tonight and I am very excited to be staying at CSR!

What is the entree on the right? I thought maybe it was fish tacos, but when I checked on the Maya Grill menu I didn't see any descriptions that looked like it would fit. It looks delicious, I want to order it this weekend!

The entree is actually shrimp tacos. The menu is completely different than the one online. Actually it was like this everywhere. We went to Maya Grill, and 5 signatures during our trip (Citricos, Flying Fish, Cali Grill, Il Mulino, and Artist Point) and not one menu was even close to what they had posted online except for Il Mulino. I'm talking the actual Disney website with updated menus. Can't really book dining reservations based on menu's! At least at signatures anyway. But every single meal was FANTASTIC. Including the shrimp tacos. Maya Grill had the best "bread" and dip all week!!! :hippie:

Welcome to the CSR thread. :)

No, it is fountain drinks only at the Pepper Market. You can refill the mugs at the Pepper Market, Cafe Rix and the pool.

The 10% dilemna. No one knows for sure...they seem to change their mind on a whim. Recent reports indicate that you do NOT get charged the 10% if on the dining plan. However, since I never know whether it is or not, I usually leave it anyway (especially if I've had good service). That being said we also take our food to go 75% of the time at least to eat by the lake and there is no 10% on "to go" orders.

Just wanted to say thank you to all of you for all the great info about the resort. I leave tonight and I am very excited to be staying at CSR!

I hope you have a magical trip and a wonderful stay at the CSR. Please report back how your stay was -- good and bad -- so others may have info for a future trip (although I hope it is ALL good).

On our last trip when dining at the Pepper Market our servers always brought us bottled water for my daughter. She has special needs and cannot drink through they typical cup with a straw. When they asked what she would like to drink and I explained the situation to them, they would always offer to get her a bottle of water for us to take with us. I thought this was definitely nice of them!:)

We were on the dining plan and did not get charged the 10% gratuity one time during the whole week. We did leave a tip each time on our own.

Have a great trip!

I'm confused on the 10% which I don't mind paying if they are bringing me drinks and silverware, it's fine but... am I correct that I head to a counter service and pick up my food and have my ticket stamped with what I ordered and then I head to a register when I'm done eating to pay? If so, where does the 10% come in? Am I charged an additionaly 10% at the register or do I leave it at the table? I don't want to leave it at the table and then get charged again at the register or not get charged at the register and have to go back to leave it on the table. Anyone know???

I, too, am interested to know more about the 10% gratuity add on... as i thought this only applied to TS's....

ALSO -- a recent OP mentioned a "pool rehab" at CSR -- can someone post (probably RE post - SORRY!) those dates for the pool rehab --- I hadn't read about this yet!

When we were there in March we were paying OOP. We ate at the Pepper Market 3 times. The first time we charged it to the room key and she did not charge us the 10% so we went back and gave the server a tip. The 2nd time it was a different cashier. We paid with a credit card and she put the 10% service charge on the bill. The third time we used the room key to pay and they tagged the 10% on. It is suppose to be added on at the register if you are paying OOP. Apparently on the dining plan they cannot add it to the key to the world and you need to leave cash.

Good news! I think we got this resolved. I was able to get to someone AT the resort and not from the call center. Her name was Toni and she said we would have a king bed on the 2nd floor in the Cabanas. YAY! Toni was wonderful in helping me out.:yay:

The Cabanas quiet pool is closed from April 20-May 19 for refurbishment. All other pools are open.

What time do they close the pool side? Thanks

When the lifeguard goes off duty which depends on the time of season (sometimes 7 p.m., sometimes 8 p.m.).

Well......it is official. We are cheating on the Poly(gasp) and we are booked at CSR for Oct 22-29 and saving big $$$:cool1: I went ahead and booked preferred location as we REALLY like to be close to our food choices--sounds a little perverted but I promise we aren't TOO freaky...:rolleyes1 Also love the vibe in the Casitas and don't want to chance getting located in the Ranchos which is way too far from....the food! Now we just really really really NEED free dining or a great room discount to seal the deal for DH who isn't 100% convinced we can afford a WDW trip this year. (fingers crossed, toes crossed, legs crossed) I am 100% convinced we MUST go this year as the planets have aligned and DH has the weekend before and after the kids' school fall break off and it is DD12's last year in middle school and last year having a fall break as high school is a whole new ballgame.

So excited as we have also never been in the fall and MNSSHP looks like a blast. I already have an idea for our family to dress up for the party.

The pool slide looks awesome! Does Panchos or ??? on property sell pool noodles? Kids and DH love to play with these(ok--me too) and if we can't buy on property will probably order from GG to deliver. TIA:goodvibes

You are too funny (the title of my PTR is....Ssh....don't tell anyone we are cheating on CSR (we're actually staying at AKL for a couple of nigihts, but then coming "home" to CSR).

I will keep everything crossed for you that free dining or some other special comes out (we miss free dining by one day in September :sad2:).

I LOVE the Poly, but we have been quite happy at CSR and saving the money for longer trips by not staying at the Poly. I don't think you will be disappointed with CSR.
