Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

We just checked out from our first visit to Coronado Springs and we had a great stay! Here are some of our observations...mousekeeping did a fantastic job at cleaning the room and meeting any needs that we had. Bus service was terrific...we did not wait too long for any bus on any day. The resort really is beautiful and we definitely enjoyed the pool. We loved the Pepper Market and we didn't think that we would! I wasn't sure that we would go there because of the service charge. But due to rain, we ended leaving the parks early on more than one night and chose to eat at Pepper Market. It was really good and reasonably priced...we didn't mind paying the service charge. It was relaxing and a much slower pace then the values that we usually stay in.
The only thing that we noticed wasn't up to par was the friendly cast members that we normally see everywhere. This seemed to be all over...from check-in, bus drivers, food establishments and shops...we only ran into two that were extremely friendly and helpful. Don't get me wrong, only a few were really rude and having a bad day...but there just didn't seem to be many who were smiling and offering a greeting. It didn't ruin anything, but it was a definite difference from past trips.
Overall, this resort is lovely and we would definitely stay at Coronado Springs again!!!

Cindyfan & Junebug - what is the scavenger hunt? Are you talking about at CSR or at the Parks?

We will be there 5/11 - 5/16. (Me, DD 18 & her BF 20)

Have a great trip, Kathy!

Thanks, Allan. Off to bed now as we have to be up in five hours for the drive to the airpot.

Thanks for the review, and I am so glad that overall you enjoyed your stay (and that you liked Pepper Market-one of our favorites). I'm sorry you had some "unfriendly" CM's...and I hope they were just having a bad day and this is not becoming a habit.

I'm thinking about staying at csr during the princess half in 2012. My question is does anyone know if that whole nightmare grainger convention will be going on? We will be there during the same time it happened in 2011. We will be there feb24 - mar2nd. I read way too many reviews with really unhappy people to book there if that convention will be at that time again.

Thanks for any info!

Yes, you can stand in either line if one is longer than the other (we did this the first time we used online check-in).

For everyone who reads along here, I'm headed to Florida tomorrow very early in the a.m. (no, not going to Disney, but on a business trip with my hubby and we will be in Jacksonville, Daytona, Cocoa Beach and Naples) and will be gone for nine days. I will have my laptop with me and hope to keep up here on this thread. But there are lots of very knowledgable people who can help out if I miss a question during my time in the sun. :goodvibes

Hey, I didn't know you could use either line. That's good to know. I wished I'd known it in Dec when the online check in line was much longer than the regular check in.:rotfl: Thanks!

Kathy, it's too bad you and Mark couldn't squeeze in a day or two at WDW. Just to check out the Flower Festival you know.:rotfl: Anyway enjoy the weather. It's been unseasonally warm here. I'd been leaving my windows open, but had to have the air conditoner running the last few days. I think it was in the upper 80's yesterday here in east Texas and supposed to be in the 80's this weekend too. Florida is probably just as warm.

Hi everyone, DH and I leave in just under a month for our adult only stay at CSR, one question for you all:

We have a 7:30am ressie at Cape May at the BC, what would be the best way to get there and what time should we plan to leave to head over there? thanks!

I am going to pop a couple of additional questions in here also..........

Blizzard Beach - I think I read on here somewhere that it was walkable to there, but there is bus transport to BB correct? (Can't imagine there wouldn't be?)

HESS Station - Plan is to go to DTD & prodbably just walk across to Hess & then take our case of water back on the bus. I have read others have done that. It appears the taxi to the Hess at S/D would probably be about a $5 fare (if that?). Has anyone ever taxied there & had the driver wait for them? I was thinking we should be able to do this for $20 if he had to wait 10 minutes while we ran in & grabbed water, pop & some snacks? Do you think there would be one willing to do the short round trip if he was paid a bit extra like that? Or am I seriously underestimating the fare to begin with? (I think someone mentioned $10 to DTD so figuring $5 to 7 to S/D Hess one way?) Seems like it would be easier than carrying back.

Winter Summerland mini-golf - In all the years we have gone we have only played at Fantasia - are the two mini-golf courses literally only a mile apart? I always thought WS was way down by WWoS. And if it is that close to CSR, then is it walkable or would we have to taxi to WS? (I'm used to walking to Fantasia from S/D).

The best way to get to the Beach Club for an early breakfast in my opinion is to take a taxi. Normally the most common way would be to take a bus to EPCOT or DHS and then boat over to the Beach Club. The boats don't usually start running until the parks open though. We found all this out the hardway a couple of years ago when we had an early ADR as well.

So excited! 2 months from today we will be in Disney for our anniversary trip! I love the DIS Boards so much info, tips, and pics!

I wanted to surprise my hubby with a night at Whispering Canon Cafe! How would we get back and forth from CSR to Fort Wilderness?

THANK YOU ALL!

Buses run to BB. I guess in theory it would be walkable, but the roads are busy and there are no sidewalks.

Since we drive to WDW, I've never used a taxi there, but I'd imagine the cabbies that frequent the area are used to short trips and waiting. I would be sure to tip generously for the convenience, but I think it would be much easier and faster to go to that Hess by S/D than lugging stuff on the bus, especially since the DTD buses don't seem to run as frequently as the park buses. Be sure to take a canvas bag or two to carry your loot. :thumbsup2

WS is in the corner of the BB parking lot. You can take a bus to BB and get off there and walk. Again, probably walkable, but busy roads and no sidewalks.

Hope this helps!

Either bus to DTD or a park, then hop on a Wilderness Lodge bus. If you go to Fort Wilderness you will not find the Whispering Canyon.

I am in! we get there the 28th though. I will be mixing up a tupperware pitcher of yummy cocktails and bringing it to the pool at least once. We may have a Boma ADR that night. Still debating if we will want to leave CSR only a couple of hours after we get the there. I think we may just Pepper Market it and chill out that afternoon.

Maybe we will see you around! We arrive on the 28th too!!

Can't wait for our first stay at CSR.. We will arrive on May 28th.. the day after school gets out.. I may never want to come home.. :rotfl:
Been reading this thread and getting so excited I can't stand it :rotfl2:
We will be traveling with friends so will be a group of 6 hanging out and waiting on busses and having fun..

lol I just noticed WCC is at Disney's Wilderness Lodge!

My parents have done that twice. Once they were to meet us at the Wilderness Lodge and they went to Ft. Wilderness. And called us from the parking lot confused.

Another time they went to Wide World of Sports because they saw a sign about All Star Cafe. And they were to meet us at the All Star Sports food court.

Me three! If you see us by the pool, wave us over! :)

AWESOME!!!! I'll be the pooh sized one with 5 kids! I'll probably be hobbling around by then too! Hope to meet you all!

Wow there will be a group of us then. We will be there from May 28-June 5th. I think that makes at least 4 families on this board that we will be there at the same time! We really should do a CSR DIS meet!:thumbsup2

Does anyone know what the closest grocery store is to CSR? We want to check in and then go get a few grocery items before hitting the pool on our first day.
