Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

Thanks for this thread! Our first trip to CSR is in June, and I am both looking forward to it and feeling anxious. We have stayed at Deluxes up till now, but CSR looks lovely, so we wanted to try it out. I do have 2 questions, though... First, am I correct in reading that there are no balconies on the rooms? I guess that means that there are just windows rather than sliding doors, so asking for a ground floor room wouldn't make any difference, would it? And second, I thought I saw somewhere that the Dig Site has a zero-entry area, but I don't see it in the pictures and it's not mentioned on the WDW website. Is that correct that there is zero entry?

Thanks for any help!!

:flower3:

The only resorts with balconies are the deluxes. No, there is not a zero entry pool. The only moderate with a zero entry pool is the CBR (Caribbean). The CSR has a children's pool located by the Dig Site poo; and there are steps that you can climb down into the Dig Site pool.

We've got a preferred room booked at CSR for arrival in 11 days. I want to put in a room request and was wondering whether I should request Casitas or Cabanas? We'll have a car so the bus stops don't matter (I hate the bus). Ideally, we'd be close to the main building and close to the main pool or the quiet pool We've never stayed at CSR before so any advice would be helpful. It will be me, my wife, DD10 & DS14. Lastly, how many floors are in each building (Casitas & Cabanas)? Thanks! Can't wait to get there!

I've been in Casitas 1, Casitas 2, Cabanas 9B (twice), Cabanas 9A, and Cabanas 8A. My favorite rooms are a tie between Cabanas 9A and Cabanas 8A. Both were first floor corner rooms. In Cabanas 9A if I looked out the side window I was facing the quiet pool and was less than 45 seconds from it and if I looked out the front window I was facing the lake and was less than five minutes from the main pool and less than five minutes from the main building. The room in Cabanas 8A was facing the back of one of the Ranchos buildings and a little road. From that room I was about two minutes from the main pool, less than five minutes to bus stop 4, and maybe five minutes from the main building. The rooms I've had in Cabanas 9B were also in a great location though. The first one was on the back side, facing the smaller lake and the second was on the front facing the main part of the lake. Both were less than five minutes to either the main building or main pool. The room we had in Casitas 1 wasn't bad, but was alot further to the main pool and to the bus stop. I liked that it was connected to the main building and if it was raining we could stay undercover the whole way though. The room I had in Building 2 I did not like at all. I had requested bottom floor, Cabanas, nice view. I was placed on the fourth floor of Casitas 2 (only building without an elevator) facing the parking lot. It was close to the quiet pool, but a long ways to the main pool and any bus stop, plus since the outside stairs only went up to the third floor, I couldn't figure out how to get from the bus stop back up to my room (had to either use the stairs close to the quiet pool and walk up four flights or else go all the way around and down to building three, use building 3's elevator, walk across the walkway, then all the way around building 2 again to get back to the back side, far end where my room was).

We just returned from 11 days(!!) at CSR, and we LOVED it! The grounds were beautiful, the staff was outstanding, the rooms were great, etc. CanadianPaco, I have to agree with you about the placement of the stairs though, it seemed kind of awkward.

We had a 2nd floor corner room in the Ranchos 6A (6273). The stairs were either half-way around the building to the left, or half-way around the building the right. On the plus side, we had very little foot traffic going past our room.

I'm going to post a mini-TR over the weekend when I have more time, and will post some pictures of our window decorations that we put up.

KatMark, THANK YOU for this thread. It was a HUGE help, especially being able to know before hand the order of the bus stops. On our first bus ride at CSR, we were able to help some others figure out the correct stop for their building!

Thanks again KatMark. More to come!!

Have most of the room been remodled?

Have most of the room been remodled?

The whole resort was completed in 2009...so all rooms are done. They are doing some painting of the outside buildings right now and refurbing one fo the quiet pools.

I will answer everyone else later; the furnance man is on his way to clean our system and my son is taking me to lunch for my birthday today.

Hi,
We have been to WDW dozens of times, but haven't stayed at CSR before. We are staying just 3 nights after a DCL vacation, and might not even enter the parks, but just relax instead. We are hoping for warm weather, the second week in March, as we live in the Rocky Mountains at about 8000 ft altitude and experience plenty of winter.
We are traveling with our 19 year old daughter, on spring break from college. We plan to swim, use health club, and get massages, and enjoy meals at DTD and GF, Poly, WL, etc. Hoping for a quiet, relaxing room. What area of CSR would you recommend for us?
Thanks!

(We checked a website that didn't list any big conventions during the dates we'll be there)

All rooms seem pretty quiet. You would think being a convention place that would not be true, but that has never bothered us. I have stayed at BLT, and POLY and Coronado Springs is my FAVORITE. I love this resort. We like staying in the Cabanas. Central location to everything. we always book water view and if you are on the 2nd floor you can watch some of the fireworks from HS. I do agree getting to the elevator is a pain but I can live with it. It is so relaxing and we travel from the adirondacks in NY and love the atmosphere, very peaceful.

Just booked our first stay at CSR! We're only going for 2 nights in February as part of a trip to Florida to visit some family, but I'm excited to try CSR! I had originally wanted to stay there last summer but we picked POFQ instead because of it's smaller size (our daughter had just turned 1 at the time).

We used the room-only offer (25% off) and decided to pay the extra $17 for a preferred king room. I'm hoping for Casitas because they look so pretty in the photos I've seen (especially at night).

Anyway...just wanted to share my excitement! Haven't told the wife yet, I'm waiting for a good time to surprise her ;)

I noticed someone already answered the question regarding balconies. However, each room has it's own outside entry door and walkway to each room from the stairs. Hope that helps.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, KAT!!! :wizard:

Can you believe it? Nine days out.. yay! :cheer2:

My DD and I just looked at all the beautiful CSR pics! She is almost 2 and kept saying Ooooh! Ooooh! :) Thanks for helping us get even more excited!!

My three and a half year old loves watching the point of view video tour of CSR All Ears has posted on its site. Just do a search there for resort videos. He is really excited about the Dig Site, and the playground area, in particular. :thumbsup2 I am sure you are going to love your stay at CSR.

We are planning our 7th trip but our first with our DGS, we were wondering if going down with a three yr old is too young? We picked CSR since we have stayed there on numerous occasions. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Going down as in going down to Disney? No way! We took our daughter when she was 1, we're going again for a quick weekend next month when she'll be 19 months, and then we'll be there for Christmas when she's 2 1/2! I think Disney is good for any age. Remember - even if they don't remember it, YOU will. And they'll have a great time in the process.

We chose Port Orleans French Quarter when we went down to Disney for her 1-yr birthday because it is one of the smallest resorts at Disney (definitely the smallest moderate) so there was minimal walking, only 1 bus stop, and really quiet. But we'll be staying at CSR next month with her!

But to answer your question - No, 3 years old is not too young at all IMO.

Absolutely NOT! We took both of our boys when they first turned 18 months old and they had a thoroughly terrific time. We took video and they still enjoy watching the tapes now and again (and they are now almost 25 and 22). Both kids actually preferred Epcot in their young days over the Studios and sometimes even over MK. They enjoyed the character interaction, the rides and just looking at all the neat stuff. I don't think you are ever TOO young or TOO old for Disney. :goodvibes

We're headed down to CSR with our three and a half year old in February and I don't think he's too young. He handles restaurants, crowds, new people and schedule changes very well. As for whether or not he'll remember it, I always think that's a ridiculous reason not to do things for small children, although some people will say that. :sad2: I might think it was too young if I was only planning on going to Disney once or twice during my son's childhood, but I know that's not the case! :lmao:

Anybody know.... If you order pizza to be delivered to the resort do you have to pick it up in the lobby/main building like at some of the other resorts or will they deliver to your room?
