Coronado Springs Resort -- New Unofficial FAQ Thread -- October 2010

I am fine in any of the rooms - but was puzzled by the room description on the Disney confirmation. Is 2BR suite-NU a suite? Strange code for a King? Thanks for the help...I'm a CSR newbie!!

When we had our suite, we were upgraded at check in, so I'm not really sure how it is posted on a confirmation. Hopefully, someone else will pipe in.

We are going to CSR for our second time in early January. We have a water view booked - that was all that was available when we booked. I made a room request on our reservation for Cabanas 9A. I'm wondering with the new Preferred room category if that will rule out 9A? Should I make another request instead? Or is it possible to change my reservation to preferred now? I don't remember that being a choice when I reserved.

We are back!!!!! I need some sleep to recover from our vacation!

I have only stayed at two resorts in recent years, so that is my only comparison, but with that being said...here are my thoughts on CSR

Buses were hit and miss, some were packed, some were empty. Got right on at times, others we waited 20-30min for the bus to come. I think most busses and resorts are the same, you are going to have good and bad days.

PROS:

- It is themed very well, loved all the fountains, light fixtures, great Christmas decorations, etc.
- Dig Site was AWESOME, although it was only warm enough to go on one day of our trip, but a huge hit with the kids. My 2.5yr old even went down the slide multiple times with a life jacket and dad at the end to catch him
- Rooms were very nice, even fit in a pack n' play into our room with space to move around. Much nicer than the old rooms at POR
- All of the staff seemed to be very helpful
- We were in Casitas #3 and really liked the proximity to the main building
- Mousekeeping kept the shampoo, soap and conditioner in plenty of supply

CONS:

- I preferred the food court at POR much more than Pepper Market. I thought the food was only OK, some of our meals were still a little cold, didn't like having to pay the 10% to sit down in the market, I am a self service type of girl unless I am really sitting down in a table service restaurant. You can go into the RIXX lounge for breakfast but then you are having to go between 2-3 restaurants to gather everything you might want to eat. The pasta and sandwiches at POR were a lot better IMHO!

- Property is HUGE!!!!! It took me almost all week to figure out just where our stairs and elevator was in Casitas 3. If we could have used the Dig Site more, it would have been a pain in the butt to get back and forth to it from our room. It had the feel of a "convention" property to me, just didn't feel as much magic.

- Our mousekeeping didn't do any towel animals for our room, but our friends got them 2 rooms down... :confused3 maybe it was a different person...not a huge deal, kids were just sad that they didn't get any but their friends did.

- They were painting the exterior of our building while we were there...smelled bad.

All in all, we had a lovely stay at CSR and glad we tried something different, but if we go back, and I can't afford the POLY :rotfl: then I think I would go back to POR or try CBR for something different...just my personal opinion!

I just returned last night from my first stay at CSR. My friend and I were there from November 30th to December 3rd (spent another week in New Smyrna Beach). I did not use on line check-in and there was no line when we arrived about 1:30 p.m. I had a standard view room booked with two queen beds. I asked the CM if the room had two queens and she said yes. When we got to the room (Casitas 1 - Room 1155), I was shocked when we opened the door and it was a suite! Maybe a junior suite, I don't know, since I've never stayed here before. The room had a living room with a leather sofa, a chair with ottoman, another upholstered chair, table and three chairs, bedroom with a king bed, two flatscreen tv's and two bathrooms. I was happy about the upgrade, but not thrilled with the king bed. I called the front desk, thanked them for the upgrade and asked if they had that same suite with two queens. She said "Unfortunately, we only have kings available." She said "I can put you in a regular room with two queens, if you want." I decided to keep the upgrade and sleep on the sofa bed.

We enjoyed our stay at CSR. It is a big resort and we really didn't explore it too much because my friend has knee troubles, but I would definitely stay there again. Pepper Market was fine - ate lunch there once. FYI -- 10% gratuity was not added to the bill (we ate inside).

Free Dining was great. Between the FD and my Disney Rewards Card, my friend and I ate $405 worth of food for almost nothing (just tips).

The last I heard from a reliable source is that Casitas 1, 2 and 3 will be preferred buildings, so I don't think your request will rule out Cabanas 9A.

Thanks for your opinion. I'm glad you gave CSR a try and that you enjoyed your stay. I have to agree with you on POR's food court. Although we have never stayed there, we have been there a number of times and definitely like their food court better. And just an FYI....CBR is even bigger than CSR so I would suggest you consider paying preferred. I hohpe you had a great vacation and thank you again for coming back and giving us your pros and cons.

Thank you so much for letting us know about your trip. And CONGRATS on the upgrade. Sorry they couldn't give you the upgrade with the two queen beds in the junior suite, but those suites are great.

I'm glad that you would go back and hope sometime in the future you will.

I just want to confirm that the CSR still has alarm clocks with an iPod connection in the room? I saw a picture of this on some website and I just wanted to confirm that the picture is current and they still have them. Otherwise I will need to bring my own dock, we need to have Holiday music!

Quick question--how bad is bus stop #1? I know it's not the first stop, so do you usually have to wait long?

I'm asking because DFi and I are booked for a King-Preferred room, and if it's in the Casitas 1, 2, or 3, it'll be closest to bus stop #1 right? We have a lot of 8 am ressies, so I'm hoping we can make it out on time.

Thanks for ya'lls help. I love this thread (since we upgraded), and can't wait to stay!

We just got back a few hours ago from our stay at CSR and bus stop #1 was fine, we never had to stand or wait more than 5 mins for a bus.
CSR is the best bus system we ever stayed at.

I wanted to share with others that the room service at CSR is not covered under the dinning plan. We were on DxDDP and our son got sick so we ordered room service 2x and it was not covered under the plan and you can pay cash when they delivered or charged to the room.

I have read this whole thread almost in full in the past couple of hours and there is soooo much information. Yesterday we booked our first trip to CSR for May 7-May 14! I got a 30% off pin and couldn't pass up the opportunity to stay somewhere besides Pop. We love Pop, but needed a change. I think my fiance was most sold on the queen beds! We are trying to keep this a secret from my son as long as possible....so far, so good :rotfl2: And that is really b/c he slept over his grandfather's last night! I think he will love the Dig Site pool. He has seen pics in the past and has commented positively. Only 4 more months of keeping my big mouth shut!!!!! :rotfl:

When we were there in September, they were still there. :)

Welcome to the CSR thread. I'm glad you found a lot of information and hope it was helpful. I can guarantee your son will LOVE the Dig Site pool and the Jaguar Slide...they are awesome.

We stayed at CSR from Dec 5-11th. We moved from Swan at 8am and checked in at CSR. The CM said sorry no rooms are ready b/c its fully booked all weekend and I said no problem and I wanted to pick up our room keys b/c I booked a package. She said any location would I be interested in I said Casitas#4, high floor and no connecting rooms (last time we had a connecting room at GF we heard people conversation and they would be talking at the middle of night and our son is a lite sleeper). I told her that we booked for a water view and I don't really care for the waterview as long as we don't have connectin room. She said she wants to make sure we get a waterview. She said ground floor with no connecting room at Casitas #4 but there is a room at Casitas #5 (the location was great and the walk was not bad (even being sick midway the vacation). We went to AK and bus was there within 5 mins and got a call at 11 that room was ready.

We got back to hotel from AK and called bell person and got our luggage quickly and we were happy to get changed.

Bus was great and never had a problem (the bus system we had compare to GF and AKL from our previous stays there). We never waited more than 10 mins but the average wait was 5 mins wait. The 10 mins was HS (but not bad). We always had a seat and never crowded.

I got sick Tuesday evening and was in bed all day Wednesday (this was not the resort fault but it was hard on me b/c during the day I couldn't get room service to get soup). I walked to the Main building to get crackers, banana and tea (I was very sick but the walk was not bad and didn't find it a problem).

Housekeeping was wonderful and did a great job with keeping the room cleaned. Wednesday evening my son throw up 11pm and housekeeping came to change bedsheets. The next time the did a great job changing all the beddings, comforters and left alot of extra towels and beddings.

We were suppose to go to 2 party night but we my son and I feeling, I talked to Scott at the concierge desk if I can get a refund. He was great and talked to me (I had 2 hour sleep so I was rambling and said my son and I were looking forward to this party for 6 months but with the cold weather and we were not feeling well I think it was best not to go). So the next day my son rested part of the day but he didn't like anything at Maya Grill or Pepper Market so we went out to get food (that's the only negative we had with CSR was the food suituation but I'm sure if we didn't get ill it would not have been a problem).
When we got back from getting food, Scott had a big package waiting for my son. It was a wonderful surprise and I thanked him for being so kind to me when I talked to him and my son.

Casitas #3 was being worked on but my son loved all the contruction going on and we never heard any of it from our room

When I was checking in I saw Pop Warner kids and I was stressing out but never heard them. I was worried staying here b/c people say is a big resort but it was great.

Rooms are cleaned and love the doors to get ready while my son and husband can sleep a little room. CSR was peaceful.

Thanks everyone that helped me with all the questions.

Thanks for coming back and reviewing. I'm sorry you and your son got sick and that the food situation didn't work for you while feeling sick, but glad to hear of the wonderful surprise for your son. You didn't say, did they refund your party tickets?

Yes, I did get a refund for all the tickets and very grateful with all Scott help. we were on DxDDP so he help me with all the ADRs the next to nights b/c we had to cancel a few ADR and he rebook to signatures the last 2 night. He was so wonderful that I'm trying to work on a glowing email to Disney regarding how much help he did for me (I know the big surprise for my son was great too but he did for me he went above and beyound...when I thank him for the present, he said that was his first ever b/c when I talked to him, he said I made him feel special). My husband and I did love the resort itself and all the negative comment had no impact. Didn't feel that the resort was hugh or not feeling the Disney feel. we did have the Disney feel and housekeeping was great.

That is awesome. If you want to type the "glowing email" and send to me, I can be sure that he gets it (PM me about it if you want).

Just booked two night at CSR for Feb 23-25! We were looking to do EPCOT so we booked the Swan (Feb 25 to Mar 2), but they were booked up (convention) for our first two nights. They said they might have opeings if we waited.

That got us (DW, DS, I) to thinking what a great time we had at CSR this past Feb! We decided not to wait for openings and booked two nights (25% discount) there to start our vaca. DS is very excited to go back to the Dig Site pool, and DW and I are anxious to have dinner at Maya again! :woohoo:

We even thought about doing the whole week! Unfortunately the discount is not available for the Mods after the 26th, and no rooms at all were availablable at all at CSR.

We LOVED the lifeguard, Mike. Can I type a "glowing" email for/about him too? He went above and beyond for my 9yo and our family. I would love to give him a pat on the back.

Can't wait. We should arrive mid morning next Sunday. Even though its our 3rd time at CSR, I need to figure out where we should try to stay. We've been only at casitas.

Btw, those there now, how is capacity? Last time we were there about this time (2008) I think cabanas was closed down at the beginning of the week - no cars at all on the parking lots. By checkout time after Xmas, it was another story.
