Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

It may be on here somewhere, but here are my questions:

1. We booked through AAA. Is it still possible to do the online check-in? Also, can I put in a location request or do I have to have my TA do it? I never use a travel agent, but my understanding is the TA owns the reservation until check in, so they would have to call CRO to add any room requests. Don't know about being able to do online check in, but you'd have to have the reservation number.

2. I'm sort of OCD and a bit of a germaphobe. If I don't want mousekeeping to clean the room (I'd rather take a few minutes and do it myself each morning), what do I do? Put a "do not disturb" sign out? Not a problem, just put the Do Not Disturb sign out. The housekeeper will leave a bag of towels, washcloths, soaps, and shampoos on the door every two days or so.

3. I'd really like to be near El Centro. What is the best location? I am not as concerned about the dig site or bus stops at this point. If you book a preferred room, you'd be guaranteed to be in Casitas 1, 2, or 3.

4. I've only seen it mentioned a couple of times but... how bad is the language barrier? Not an issue. I have yet to find a CM at CSR that doesn't speak English. They may have an accent, but do speak English.

5. As we will be using ME from the airport, is it better to grab your bags and take them on the bus or to let them handle it? I go to WDW several times a year and have used DME ever since the first week it was in existence. Yeah, I was one of the original guinea pigs that first week. I have always had them transport my luggage and have yet to have a problem. Let them handle your bags. Go straight from the plane, check in with DME on the first floor, hop on the DME bus, check in at your resort, drop any carryons at bell services if your room is not ready, then hop on a bus to the parks. When you get back to your room, your checked bags will be waiting in the room for you. You'll need to run down to bell services to pick up your carry ons though.

Thank you!

I answered the questions I could in blue. Have a great trip! CSR is a fantastic resort.

Just popping in to say hello to all of my fellow CSR lovers. Sorry I've not been around a lot. My bosses wife is ill and is having a medical procedure this week and, at the age of 86, I've been going to their home to work with my boss. And our youngest son got engaged a week ago and we were with them this weekend.

Hope those of you with trips coming up all have magical stays. :goodvibes

Aaaah! Congratulations on the engagement. Sorry to hear about your bosses wife though.

I am leaving for CSR in 9 days. Dis online check in yesterday and the page came up for location requests and I entered them but then I got a message that said requests could not be noted.

Called CSR directly this evening and talked to a very friendly CM. She put my Cabanas request on my reservation for me and even asked if I had a specific building or room. I said no...just Cabanas because I did not want to be picky but I did mention we enjoy the first floor. Hoping we get Cabanas and first floor would just be a plus.

Can't wait now if my team can just make the final four I will get to watch my favorite team at my favorite place in between trips to the Dig Site and parks.

I will gladly check on the Coke Zero availability if no one else has by then.

Will anyone be there March 29-April 4? :yay:

WE WILL!!! 4/1 thru 4/6. (really we are getting in quite late on the 31st) We are requesting Cabanas too!!
.

In order to be able to purchase the right supplies this weekend for our trip next week, my wife really wants me to find out about the coffee makers at CSR.

She wants me to call, but I know if I call, I'll get a call center that may not know what's really been updated at CSR, right?

Any ideas how to find out? And I've seen Buzz's info about CSR, but can't find recent info.

Thanks!

Wanted to add about this: I also prefer not to have housekeeping during my stay, and do it myself. When I arrive, I call housekeeping to alert them I need no housekeeping. I don't rely on the "do not disturb" tags they provide to place in the door key slot, they blow away, and sometimes kids passing remove them. (Also had a mousekeeper come in anyway, despite the tag still there when I got back.) I bring a printed sign made on my computer and tape it on the outside of the door.

also, I often have a housekeeper knock on the door, disturbing me, to make sure I don't want to be disturbed!!! they keep buggin gyou, they want you to sign something that you don't want service.

I just want the "bag-o-stuff" .

Thanks; we are very excited about the wedding.

Not sure if that url can be posted or not but if you google Coronado Springs you'll find it about half way down page 1.

You are right...you cannot post that site here.

When I last stayed at CSR in 2010, the coffee pots were the four cup version with the prepacked coffee that you stuck in the filter basket.

There are reports that WDW is upgrading the coffee makers to the senseo or pod type.

We get conflicting reports that CSR has been upgraded and that they have not been upgraded yet.

We stayed at CSR 4-13 March and our room had the pod coffee maker. It had two sides so you could make separate cups on each side at the same time. The coffee wasn't really an improvement from the previous coffee maker.

Not long at all now til I go to CSR considering how long I've been waiting for it to come around! There looks like there will be quite a lot of people at CSr around the same time as us (11-24May)
I cant wait! :yay:

I think i know the answer to this question already but want to check! I will check out of my room on the 24th but my flight isnt until 8pm so ME will not be til around 5pm-ish I would guess,
can we leave our suitcases/bags at bell services? TIA,

Yes, you can. This is what we did at OKW in January. Bell Services will hold them for you.

DH and I are considering shipping our bags via UPS instead of checking them with the airline to save on costs. I know we'll be charged for receiveing the package at the resort. Does anyone know if there will be another charge for the resort to have UPS pick it up? The postage will already be paid - I just want to make sure there isn't an extra charge.

We're also looking into ordering water from Turner Drug. Same question - does anyone know if they'll charge me for receiving the package? What about Garden Grocer?

So I can't remember if someone has posted pics of the new coffee maker or not. These are borrowed from the Yacht & Beach Club thread but this is the the exact same coffee maker we had in our room at CSR for our 4-13 March stay. I don't remember if there was tea in our room, but the coffee selection is the same.

We will be there May 12-20! So excited! See you at the dig site!:woohoo:

I just booked our CSR trip today for nov 30th through dec 7th. This will be our first time to CSR. I'd love to hear any tips or pointers to make the most of our stay.

If I can request a room (do they do that?) or building what would I request?
