It seems to me that the buffet set up benefits those on the dining plan; people who prefer to pay OOP, not so much.

Maybe this is Disney's way of getting everyone on the plan? I sure hope not.

Thanks for the tips! :goodvibes I love the sound of walking through the Casistas. I watched AllEars.net's video tour of CSR and the Casistas area looks extremely pretty and romantic. I really hope we stay in Casistas 4 or 5. I see you're a fellow Chicagoan! Hello neighbor!

I agree with Smidgy. My DH and I have stayed at the Coronado nine times (we really missed it in September), and our favorite buildings are Casitas 4 and 5 -- we've been in them five of our nine stays. We spent our 25th anniversary there, and we just love the courtyards and sitting and relaxing.

I'm so glad to hear that! I don't want to end up in the Ranchos, but DBF would like to be there because it's close to the pool. He doesn't want to walk more than 5 minutes to the hot tub. Here's hoping a I get Casitsas 4 or 5 for our 2013 trip! :thumbsup2 And it's nice to see more Chicagoans! I'm in Arlington Heights. Not too far from Carol Stream. :goodvibes

Tell DBF that it is only a six or seven minute walk from Casitas 5 to the main pool/hot tub (I'm 54 now and I've been walking it for years...and I usually do it in five minutes). :)

Yes, I know where Arlington Heights is. My kids used to go there for sports, and my DH sometimes goes there to umpire baseball in the summer. :goodvibes

Yay! That's not bad at all. He'll be happy to hear that! :goodvibes

That's awesome! My brothers played sports all the time when they were younger. Now they are in college so they just bowl. It's a nice area. I enjoy living here.

Coming down to the Coronado May 11-19th with my family of 15 to celebrate my 40th birthday! So excited and happy we are staying here again. Anyone know if there will be a convention going on during that time?

For breakfast, the price of the buffet is high, especially if you were looking for a quick, small bite to eat. Cafe Rix is still available though for a pastry or quick ala carte breakfast.

For lunch, the price really isn't bad. The buffet price includes your beverage. So if you were to only eat a chicken quesadilla (it's just under $10 on the ala carte evening menu at the Pepper Market), a drink ($2.50 or so), and a piece of cake ($3.99ish). You are right up there at the cost of the buffet.

Quick question. (Sorry if this was answered already; I skimmed through but might have missed it.)

Does anyone know what the vegetarian and/or vegan options are at the new PM buffet for lunch? I'm guessing a meatless taco(?), veggie wrap, and some salads(black bean and corn, grilled veggies, fresh fruit, salad bar). Any other thoughts? Thanks.

Trying to think of the options I saw, Cheese quesadilla would have to be made special. You could make your own meatless soft taco with rice and beans. There is a cucumber salad. Oven roasted potatoes. Pizza, garlic bread, there was a tomato basil soup one time I ate there, another time there was a mushroom soup. I think the tortilla soup had meat in it.

The loaded mashed potatoes had bacon so that's out. There was corn and red peppers mixed as a vegie choice.

Not sure about the desserts because they probably have eggs in most of them or milk.

We did breakfast, lunch and dinner there this past week. All were good. Lunch buffet was much better than breakfast however. The waiter told us that they are working on making dinner buffet style too. When were were there, there was someone at most stations keeping the food made fresh and serving it to you. We were very pleased with the restaurant and the entire resort!

Could you please tell me what the breakfast choices were? Did they offer Mickey waffles, cut fruit, pastries, eggs to order and bacon?

Trying to compare it to the Maya Grill buffet in my mind!

Thanks!

They did have mickey waffles with fruit toppings! Yummy. They had bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pancakes, hash, an omelet station, a few different egg based dishes, biscuits and gravy( DS pronounced this yummy) a nice fruit and yogurt bar and a huge selections of breads and pastries and desserts.

Drinks were included. We had apple and orange juice.

I rated the food on par with most of the character meal breakfast foods.

Planning another trip for this spring and I have two questions about CSR (loving the look of the resort!):

#1.. free wifi? seriously?
#2 - pepper market is now a buffet for breakfast and lunch? any option for a quick lunch anywhere? I can't see paying $17 for a buffet for lunch but we're usually in the parks during lunch time anyway so might not be a deal breaker for us.

1. Yes, CSR and the deluxe resorts have free wifi.
2. PM is currently a buffet (it's a trial, but it has gone past the trial end date, so it might be here to stay). Cafe Rix, Laguna Bar, and Siesta's are all open for lunch. Here are the links to their menus:
