I can confirm, free wifi in the rooms. Just checked in ranchos and was surprised.

There is an info sheet that mentions it.

Now, cellular signal is really poor. One phone could not get thru, e other on barely held a call. Will switch to VoIP next time I have to place a call.

We had poor signal in all the rooms we stayed at while at CSR and POP. Last weekend we stayed at POFQ and it was the first time we had reception in the room.

How are you enjoying the Ranchos?

We just got back after 9 days at CSR, room 4123 at the Casitas.

Was originally assigned to Rancheros at checkin and asked to move (they said my request to be as close to the main building as possible wasn't on my reservation). Was told Cabanas 8 & 9 weren't available due to construction, turns out they were resurfacing the parking lots and the CM mistakenly assumed we had driven to the resort and needed to park.

Was re-assigned to Casitas 5, third floor for one night and the next day they upgraded us to 4123 which was a great room right next to the quiet pool and fitness center and a direct, short walk to/from the bus stop.

Cell signal was very weak in the room (both of us have Sprint). WiFi signal was "Poor" when at the desk in the room, was a litle better when sitting on the beds.

Housekeeping was fine, all supplies were replenished every day.

All in all, CSR was a great resort. I'm glad we switched from CR to CSR and saved a ton of money. We took a cab every morning to the different resorts we had breakfast ADR's for, park hopped and then returned to CSR at night by bus. I have no complaints about the bus service, never waited more than 15 minutes for one then directly on to CSR.

I was a first timer to CSR in November. I had requested Cabanas but was given Ranchos 7B. My son didn't want to change and boy was I happy that I listened to him. Loved, loved, loved it. Our room was directly in front of the quiet pool, which my daughter lived in when we were in the room. It was a 2 minute walk to the Dig Site and a 3 minute walk to Bus Stop 4. I didn't consider the walk to El Centro to be bad and it was so pretty at night. This is coming from a family that has only stayed at Deluxe resorts. I was alone with my two kids and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. BTW, we loved CSR so much better than the Poly and the bus service was the best we have ever experienced!:thumbsup2

It is a beautiful night at CSR!! Weather is great!! Wi- Fi seems to be working ok. Great view from Casitas 4 on the 4th floor.

Thanks for reporting back. We prefer the CSR over the CR and the savings are great. I wonder what may be causing the poor reception. We have AT&T and we have never had a probblem with using our phones in the room?

That is awesome. The Poly was our favorite until we moved to the CSR. You get a hot tub, queen beds and a much cheaper price. :goodvibes And I'm so glad to hear you loved Ranchos 7B. It's the only section we've not stayed in and I really want to try it next time we stay there.

Oh...you are in one of our favorite buildings. :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Have fun.

Argh... Just lost what I was typing...

I'm in 7b at the opposit corner of the bus stop even though we asked to be near one. But is not that bad. Room is not bad, but had to call maintenance as the outlets in the desk don't work.

Cell signal is poor (Verizon and AT&T). We never had problems the previous times in casitas or cabanas. Mi guess the more back you are, the worse it is.

Wifi signal is excellent though.

I asked about occupancy and was told it was pretty full due to a couple of conventions, but the parking lots are empty. Also, last week still had occupancy under free dining, so that should say a lot.

Dined at pepper market last night. Food was good (not great) but as a counter service it is excellent. Now, we wanted to get a couple of large pizzas and save on counter credits, but they are now charging two entitlements. I guess too many where taking advantage of this...

Short trip. We leave on Sunday. Now need to convince my DW to book bounce back. Though we are so used to free dining, not sure I would pay oop. 30% doesn't cover much as we are 2 adults and 2 juniors.

Hmm. So I thought in pepper market I would have to pay a 10% service charge, not covered by DDP, but last night at dinner I did not have to pay it. There was no option for a tip however, and was told I would have to leave cash on the table.

I also know the service charge was recently removed from breakfast and a tip one added...

Is this right?

I use TMobile, my husband uses Verizon, and my mom has At&t. We all have poor/no reception inside the rooms at CSR. We always have to go outside or sit right next to the window to use our phones.

My elderly mom is a very brittle diabetic who takes a short acting insulin after each meal and a long acting insulin every night around 10:00pm CT. When I was at CSR Nov 26th-Dec 4th, I had to call her every night about 11:00pm ET (10:00pm CT). I was in Cabanas 8B facing the parking lot. There was no service right outside my room, so had to get out of bed, then get dressed every night, and walk around by the stairwell or the quiet pool in order to get a signal to call her to remind her to take her insulin and make sure she was OK.:rotfl: Usually I can just stick the phone over by the window and sit on one of the ottoman's or else just step right outside the door to make calls, but two weeks ago I had to wander around toward the lake side of the resort in order to make cell phone calls. I had perfect reception on that side of the building though.:confused3

Strange....We were in Casitas 4 back in October and absolutely NO problems with Verizon reception anywhere at the resort or in the parks.

Just a tip I found useful on our recent trip. We listed our dining reservation details and confirmation numbers in our Blackberry. Also, parade and fireworks showtimes. It beat having to keep up with a notebook.:)

There was a tip line added to our lunch buffet receipt when we paid with a credit card.

Sorry it was a hassle to call your mother.

We have sprint and dh and ds have blackberries, they were roaming in the room. I have a rumor and I had one tower of reception by the window.

We stayed at POFQ this past weekend and we all had service in our room the entire time. No problems at all, even in the bathroom with cell phone reception.

Can anyone confirm or deny that Cabanas 9A and/or 9B are not currently being used? Hoping to stay there next week!

I am concerned about the dining options changes at pepper market...

we have reservations for early May. we have always said... we don't want to stay at CSR without some sort of dining plan, esp if not driving and bringing with some bread, lunchmeat,e tc.
pepepr market is just too expensive to pay out of pocket,

so we are booked for early may, with the quick service plan.. we thought.. good deal!! you can get steaks. or fajitas, or prime rib, with a CS credit.... so, naturally, they have changed everything!!! aarrrgh!!

Iknwoeverything is now in "test" mode. with pepper market being a buffet, but still a CS credit. and a regular counter service, open market food court, CS credit for dinner. but only for now.

I heard rumours of it being a TS credit after that... sigh!!!

the options for CS (a hot dog or burger of chicken sandwich at the maya pool, only till around 7 pm) suck. I heard another rumour of a FEW more CS options at cafe rix (the bar).

anyone have ANY idea of the DDP otions (esp CS) at CSR in
May?

I've eaten at the lunch buffet twice. It is still a great value for a CS credit. Granted there's no fajita, but there is a quesadilla or a soft taco. It's all you can eat, so you can fill up. We had an excellent experience at our first lunch buffet and a good experience the 2nd time. I look forward to the 3rd.

The loaded nachos at the pool are excellent!

I've never eaten anything from Cafe Rix except gelato. A menu for the Cafe Rix is on one of the first few posts of my TR from March.
