Coronado Springs Resort - New Unofficial FAQ Thread - November 2011

Just back, resort was booked at capacity all 5 nights with several conventions. The buses were very full, this was my 5th stay at CSR and I have never seen it like it was this past weekend. Still love the place though and didn't let it ruin my trip, just next time I will rent a car.

My sister and sister-in-law and I are participating in the Princess Half Marathon in February and I'm trying to decide where to stay. Obviously, LOVE CSR. But I know that big-humongo-convention is sometime around February and wouldn't want to be there for that. What's the name of that company? Any idea when that convention is running next year? I checked Page 1 of the thread and it's not on the list yet.

Thanks!

Grainger has apparently moved to the Orange County Convention Center this year. It appears on their calendar, so I took it off the CSR front page. :cheer2:

I am currently booked in a preferred room so we were near El Centro and bus stop #2. But now my DH is insistent on renting a car. Sooo...bus stop proximity is not an issue and we could drive to breakfast if we wanted. No need to be near the pool. So I am thinking I will drop the preferred and request Casitas (just because I think they are pretty), but would really be okay with the dreaded Ranchos too. I guess I will put near parking as a request. I know there's not really a question there, just making sure it make sense.

Also, can you get a bottle of water as your beverage at the breakfast buffet? We will have the mugs so if I can use the mug to drink something at breakfast and could save a water for in the parks, that would be perfect.

Yes you can. I should say at any Disney food court you can do that. I don't know if Pepper Mkt is different.

We will be there October 8th for our first visit to CSR. Does anyone know what movies are being shown in October?

Thanks!

Hi, just got back, and a few thoughts....

Yes, you can get bottled water to go at the PM with your meal when you're on the dining plan, and they will fill your refillable mug for you - we did it several times.

Yes, there's shower gel (wish I'd bought a puff for the shower, to really enjoy it - you just can't get the same effect from a face cloth), separate shampoo and conditioner, and a body lotion. They were all grapefruit scented. There was also a bath soap and a facial soap. Our first week our mousekeeper always left extra, the second week we obviously had a new one because she only left an extra shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel our last day. Mousekeeping was good, we had no complaints.

And we had no trouble using our room card for tips at either meal - including dinner. Loved the breakfast and lunch buffets - very good selection, really enjoyed those meals. Dinner (or supper as we call it ;) ) - I can't say we were impressed with it. Maybe if it was a buffet as well, so you could pick different entrees it would have been different, but none of us were happy with it. The staff at PM were great, with no complaints.

The resort itself was beautiful. We were in Casita's 4, and didn't mind the walk to the PM or the Dig Pool. A recommendation for those with kids - bring a few pool toys or a beach ball. There are none at the quiet pools, and only two big beach balls at the Dig Site - they were very much in demand. We bought two beach balls at one of the gift shops off site (couldn't find any anywhere on property) and that really helped keep the boys (15 and 13) occupied in the pool. Less boredom = less bickering for my two :thumbsup2. We had many games of volleyball in the pool, and just gave the balls away to other families when we left.

We really lucked out with the buses - hardly ever had to wait and if we did it was a very short time. We were on bus stop two, and the buses were rarely crowded. Was very proud of my two teenagers :flower3:who automatically stood if there were no seats left - they did have to stand a fair amount of times. The longest wait was for a Typhoon Lagoon bus from the Poly after breakfast at Kona - must have been at least 30 minutes.

What else? The drinks at the Dig Site were yummy - would recommend the Rum Runner or the Fieta Margarita :goodvibes. The slide was good. We saw the alligator and the turtles - in the lake, not the pool :thumbsup2. And saw one of the Osmond boys in Panchitos - I think it was Jimmy. (We were there during the Miracle Children's Network Conference, which the Osmonds started). We also saw Christi and Chloe from Dance Moms while eating at Kona Kafe. A highlight of the trip was Mickey giving my 13 year old a fist bump and doing what the boys called a "gangsta dance" when he read his hat - it's hard to impress teenage boys at Disney, but even they were impressed (it actually broke through the 15 year olds "I'm soooo bored" expression :rotfl:.

So much for my few thoughts - chatty as always . If any questions, ask away!

Thanks for your thoughts!!!!! Another positive response to my questions on water with breakfast and shampoo!! Yay one less thing to pack.

Glad you had a great trip!

Good info to know my DD is ALWAYS in need of water. Nice to know we can get them free!

Pretty sure that bottle water was NOT an option at Pepper Market Buffet for breakfast. It is pretty much like any buffet and drinks, in cups, are included but you can't take anything out of the buffet area.

Now at the CS place there, that would work fine as that is where you fill your mugs anyway. Some people do bring them into pepper market and I have seen wait staff fill them for them before they leave.

I can not remember the name of the CS place though we have been in there many times! The selection is quite limited there.

We definitely got bottled water to go with our meals at Pepper Market when we were there last week - as long as what we wanted in our refillable mugs was what they had available for the mugs. For example, i had coffee in my mug so could get water to go. My oldest wanted orange juice so could not get water. The server would ask what we wanted in our mugs and fill them for us (they would only request that we remove the lids ourselves) and then bring us our bottles of water before we left. We did this several times in our 10 day stay, with different servers and at different meals, including breakfast. It worked out great for both my youngest and I, who are the water drinkers of the family.

We found the staff at Pepper Market very accomodating in general, but I know from reading these boards that others have not been so lucky. Hopefully they've made a change for the better :)

Sorry to give mis-information but glad to hear this. We have eaten there quite a few time since it became buffet and I have never even seen the bottle water, but guess I never asked either! Thanks for setting me straight!

Coming to join everyone here. With the new Disney Visa discount, we switched from POFQ to CSR and save almost $200. DH & I stayed there back in '07 or '08, can't remember exactly but it was right before the room refurb. If I remember correctly, the bus service was awsome and food was pretty good. We're looking forward to the buffet style dining!

I am wondering about conventions though. The last time we were there we saw several business suits. It left the busses empty and the pool was not crowded at all either. The SPIE Imaging convention will be there at the same time we are. Does anyone have any experience with them?

My kids would be so psyched if they saw the U.S. Gymnastic team! Even if it's a glance I'm sure it would be a highlight.

mine too!....now if they would have a chance, I would have to add one more day to our trip,....good thing we drive down and have a little wiggle room for the retuen home!

Are you in the Ranchos? Building 6B? 6B and 2 are the 2 buildings I would never want to be placed in. Both of them could have you in "no man's land"

We just stayed in Ranchos 6B. The location didn't bother us as we had a car and just hit El Centro to fill mugs as we drove to the parks (drove and parked there.) The elevators were beat down though. I was surprised how shabby they looked and I love CSR. Room was nice, close to quiet pool and laundry. We were actually very close to Bus stop #3.

Quick question: me & my sister will be staying overnight here. Are the buses efficient & run on time? We will going to Epcot after check in around 4pm on 10/20.

Pumped... heading to CSR 11/24-12/1. Had booked a standard with fingers crossed to get a room (upgrade) in the Casitas close to the main building. But just bit the bullet and paid an extra $200 for the preferred room. So $200 for 2 months of peace of mind and the guaranteed location - worth it!
