Just had to pop in and say......we are leaving tonight!!!!! Can't wait to enjoy this beautiful resort, will be worth flying for 24hrs to see I am sure. The kids are so excited not to mention the adults. YAY
Hope you have a great trip!

I had booked POP for our first couple Disney trip for 1/31 - 2/7 :lovestruc, but it just didn't feel romantic (we have stayed before and liked it fine). I really wanted CSR but not a waterview room and that was all that was available for free dining on our dates and for a week before and after. By some miracle when I did another check...like every good DISer would do...there was a standard view room for our dates:woohoo:

I keep thinking there are plenty of other things we should probably do with the money, and I go back and forth about cancelling all together. This thread has me so excited about CSR that I can not see me cancelling now

I think I may not make a room request :scared1:. The cabanas are the only village that doesn't really appeal to us...so we have a 2 out of 3 chance. I don't know if I will be able to hold to that idea so if I don't I think I will request Ranchos. Secluded sounds good for a couple trip right. Who knows maybe we will even get an upgrade :thumbsup2. I really wanted a courtyard view for our August trip at WL this year so I booked one. For this trip there isn't any thing that important to me so why not give it a try?

We got back from our CSR trip a couple of weeks ago, and wanted to stew on exactly how we felt about the resort. There were good and bad things.

We requested a room in the Cabanas area of the resort, preferrably building 8B or 9B, and were given a room in the second floor of building 8B. We made this request as DH daily would go and get coffee and breakfast from Rix Cafe. We liked the view of the lagoon, and the nice walk from our room to the Main building where the cafe was. We were very close to the quiet pool and laundry, which came in handy halfway during our trip.

We all really liked the Pepper Market. The variety and quality of food was great, especially for a counter service credit, as we were on the dining plan. We liked the themed pool, and spent two evenings and one morning there. While we were there, the resort was not crowded at all - no conventions or big groups - and that made it especially nice. In our room, we liked the decor and the divider from the room to the vanity area, which was great in getting ready in the mornings, and everyone still keeping a resasonable amount of privacy.

Things we didn't like include the bathroom. There were cracked tiles in the shower, and the shower head didn't seem to work very well. While the rest of the room seemed recently renovated and clean, the bathroom was far from that. The toilet had issues as well, as it didn't always flush fully.

Overall, we liked the resort, but not as much as some of the others we have stayed at. We'd consider coming back to this resort, if we knew that a convention would not be there.

Hi, we will be arriving on Saturday :cool1: and have not submitted a room request. We have paid for a water view since standard was unavailable. Last year we stayed in the Cabanas 8A and loved the location. We would be happy with Cabanas or Casitas and I kinda of want to go with the flow and see where we end up. I don't think we would like the Ranchos section so if that is where we end up would it be a hassle to ask to be moved when checking in? If so, I will submit a request. Would I need to call or can I still fax request to 407-939-1001?

TIA!

w00t w00t the day is here.

We will be experiencing our first stay at CSR tomorrow. Can't wait.

I have yet to post my trip report but I must say the renovations to CSR are beautiful! We stayed in Casitas 5, had requested a standard room but ended up with waterview (sweet) and were only about a 5 minute walk to the lobby (wonderful for pre-bed mug fillings) and 2 minutes from a quiet pool.

When we got to the resort at 11 it took a whopping 5 minutes to check in, and we were pleasantly surprised that our room was READY!

Was pretty excited to see the information about what type of mattress, etc was used in the room....that bed was so comfy might buy one next time we need a new mattress.

Had the family in the room next to us not been so loud over a couple of nights it would have been the perfect hotel experience!

It is not a hassle at all to switch rooms, assuming they have something else available. Even if you do online check-in and your packet is already prepared, you can ask to switch if you don't like the room or area. If they are not full, they will work to accommodate you. Last year, we were assigned Casitas 2, which had not been renovated at the time, and I really wanted to be closer to the Dig Site. They moved us to 9A, which was great.

If you are sure you don't want the Ranchos, you can call and add it to your room request. You can also send a fax a few days before you arrive.

We were in 8A this summer and it was a great location, but I think Ranchos 7B might have been a little better. We were close to the Dig Site and the cabanas bus stop, but it was a hike to the laundry - we were in between the cabanas laundry and the ranchos laundry. I walked over to the ranchos laundry and thought 7B would be a great location - close to the Dig Site and also close to the laundry and quiet pool. We don't spend that much time at El Centro, though. Being close to the pool and bus stop is more important to us.

Thank you for the info!

We are CSR right now. This is our first stay here and we love it. We requested a building close to the main building but when we arrived we were assigned to the very back of Ranchos! I asked if we could have something a little closer and the CM replied "It is not that far" but changed our room to Cabanas 9B first floor. This was a good location for us. I am not sure why Disney even bothers to take room requests. The past three years that we have made a request they have assigned us to the total opposite.:confused3

Glad that you're enjoying your stay. I have to say that I got my room request at CSR last year, so I think its just lucky, maybe? :confused3

One week from today we'll be checking in to CSR for our first anniversary trip! We are excited to try a new resort - we've never even visited it before. Thanks for all of the tips on this thread! :goodvibes

Hello all... I just wanted to post on here saying that my future bride and I will be spending our Honeymoon next May in CSR, and we just booked our room this week!

We paid for a preferred king, does that guarantee us a room closest the the lobby or does it only guarantee that we'll be near either the dig site or the lobby?

Thanks, and I'll be sure to continue checking in as the trip approaches.

ps..the pictures in the first page of this post of very lovely, it's really great to see what the resort looks like "in real life" if you know what I mean!

Congrats on your upcoming marriage! Be sure to mention it is your honeymoon on your reservation - you might get some pixie dust. :)

As far as the preferred rooms, that is a new category for 2011, and Disney hasn't announced which buildings will be considered preferred. We're thinking at least Casitas 1, 2 and 3, and there is some speculation about cabanas 9 A and B and/or Cabanas 8 A and B. Kathy (KatMark - the thread author) was just at CSR this past week and wasn't able to find out definitively which buildings would be included. All of the cabanas buildings are reasonably close to the lobby anyway (9A and 9B are closer than 8A and 8B). It will be posted in the CSR thread whenever we know for sure, so keep checking! :goodvibes

I definitely mentioned that it was our honeymoon on the reservation...now we're in the market for some bride and groom mouse ears :)

We had already picked CSR as our #1 choice to stay, but now after booking and reading this thread, we are certain we made the right choice!

I am trying to figure out what TS restaurants I can get to easily from CSR (so I can create an ADR list).

Are the Epcot Resorts (e.g., Boardwalk Inn, etc.) easier to get to than the AK resorts (e.g., AKL)? Or vice versa? Or are they similar in terms of time to reach (and return)?

TIA!
:thanks:
