Kathy have a great time away, thank you sooooo much for all the time and effort you put into answering all of our questions. Really we should all be paying you!

Kathy (and everyone else leaving in the next few days) HAVE A GREAT TIME!!!!!!

Kathy could you please try to find out where the preferred rooms will be? From posts it sounds like the only rooms that will be standard are the Ranchos or maybe the Ranchos and Casitas 4 and 5.

That is going to be my FIRST question when I talk to them when we get there.

Thank you so much. It is my pleasure to talk about our "home." Have a safe trip.

:wave2::wave2::wave2: See everyone in two weeks.

Like all crazy fellow Dis'ers I'm already planning for my trip for next Aug. I feel like the odd one out because I love the look and want to stay in Rancho's area. I can't see us going up to El Centro much and we will be at the parks every day. Can someone make me feel like this is not a bad idea?!
Please?!

For your case I don't think the Ranchos would be bad at all!

The Bus Stop is the second one, so you won't have to wait as long on the buses as the Casitas folks do, while you will be far more likely to get a seat than people getting on at Cabanas or El Centro.

Ranchos have a nice quiet pool of their own, plus they are quite close to the Dig Site. And since you won't be going to El Centro too much, the Ranchos should be fine!

If not for the fact that we love to get the most value out of our resort mugs, we probably would have requested Ranchos, too! :D

Correct me if I'm wrong but I was certain that Casitas 4/5 was right next to bus stop #2 which is actually the first on and first off at this resort. I honestly can't say which one Ranchos is close to.

Add me to the "odd" list. I love the Ranchos and will be requesting a room there in June. It's quiet and I love the cactus and all the rock. Plus it's close to the bus stop. The walk is only 5 minutes to El Cenrtro (but I walk fast) and I figure the more I walk the more dessert I can have!!!! ;)

Ranchos is a fine area. It's close to the Dig Site, Bus Stop #3 and, probably less than a 10 minute walk to El Centro. As well, there is also a quiet pool and laundry facilities at Building 7B.

You are correct. Bus stop #2 by Casitas is the first stop for the theme park buses. Then #3 for Ranchos, #4 for Cabanas, and #1 at El Centro. The DTD bus goes in order, stop 1-4, and then exits for DTD. This enables you to take a bus from El Centro back around to your area. I did this a few times when we stayed in Ranchos - get on any theme park bus to El Centro and then wait for a DTD bus at stop #1 to get back to Ranchos.

I only have a minute as we are on our way to a DIS meet at the pool. I asked about "preferred" rooms and they have NOT made a final decision. It more than likely will be Casitas 1, 2 and possibly 3 for closeness to the main building and POSSIBLY Cabanas 8A and 8B for closeness to the main pool. They really don't know yet.

Hi kathy
Glad you had a safe flight and are enjoying yourself.

I'm so bummed about the "preferred" room surcharge; I know it's not something new to other resorts. I love the Cabana's area and was hoping we can get our rooms assigned there in February; but we didn't pay for preferred (actually didn't know about it until a few days ago) our TA didn't mention it to us when booking but it wounldn't have fit in to our budget anyway.

Oh well, I know I'll still be happy to be at CSR - not gonna ruin my trip.:thumbsup2

Glad to see a few positive comments about Ranchos. We will have a Grand Gathering in June (3 rooms) and the more I look at the map, the more I'm leaning toward the Ranchos...I thought maybe I was missing somethig big because it seems that everyone wants to stay away from that area! I don't see us using El Centro much (don't do the refillable mugs) but we will venture to the digsite. How is the walk to the digsite?

Just had to pop in and say......we are leaving tonight!!!!! Can't wait to enjoy this beautiful resort, will be worth flying for 24hrs to see I am sure. The kids are so excited not to mention the adults. YAY

Disney to you, is like Tahiti to me! I can't bring myself to make that flight! :scared1:

Have a great trip! You deserve it after making that trek!

Have a wonderful trip and I'm sure you will LOVE CSR as much as we all do. I'm not sure I could do twenty-four hours on a plane, though. Even for Disney... :goodvibes

We were in Ranchos 7602 in late August and really enjoyed the location. We were actually right by the parking lot, just a step away from the stairs, and we were right between Bus Stop #3 and #4.

The quiet pool was right outside our building, and the laundry facilities are right there as well. It's a 2-minute walk to the Dig Site where you can get your mugs refilled. Close, but far enough away that there was no noise from the pool.

Walking to El Centro was 7 minutes according to my watch, and I don't walk at a fast pace. I would cut through the Dig Site sometimes, and then enjoy my little jaunt around the lake. It really wasn't that long a walk. It was a great location, IMHO.
