Hello all,

I am back again after having convinced DH we need to do another trip next year (October 2011).

Of course CSR will be the resort again!!. Love the lake, laid back atmosphere etc.

Glad to see that you are still here Kathy with all your wisdom:worship::worship:

Now where to reqest for our stay.
1st time Ranchos 7B - loved it and requested it again
2nd time Casitas 4 - loved it and would request it again - not keen on quiet pool though it was icy!!

Where should I request :confused3 and does it matter!!!!! and will i manage to get a massage this time? Yes it was my own fault I just went in each day on the offchance they were quiet didn't want to tie the family to being back from the parks at a certain time.

Anyone going soon have a wonderful time!!

Welcome back, we've missed you. I'm so glad you are booking CSR again! I would request the Cabanas this time since you've not done it. :)

Just did our online check-in! :woohoo:

There was a glitch in the system. It wouldn't take my "near transportation" room request. I called to see if it could be added, and they couldn't add it because we have a reservation from a travel agent. I did email our TA and asked her to add "near transportation" to her fax when she faxes a room request in a few days. I hope they will look at the fax as well as the online check-in when assigning a room. It's just a little thing, but I hope that we are near a bus stop.

10 days to go!! Now I can start paying attention to the 10 day weather forecast!! :goodvibes

:woohoo::banana::woohoo::banana: It will be here before you know it.

I didn't get on till last night late, but glad to hear DH is ok and recovering well. I just started posting on this thread, but I appreciate your advice and feel like I know you already. Prayers towards a quick recovery.:cutie:

Thank you. :goodvibes He is feeling great. We went grocery shopping, to Costco and to the Mall today. We just took our time and walked slow at each spot. He's having a little trouble remembering that he has to start steps, etc., with his opposite foot to take the weight on that foot, but other than that he feels great.

Reading the posts I see where someone had a microwave put in their room. What is the cost for this?

You can request a microwave when you officially check in at registration (you cannot request before hand). They are available on a limited basis (first come, first served); there is no charge for them.

They are painting cabanas building 8A today and it looks like people are staying on 2nd floor while they paint first floor.

I just thought I'd jump in, read the thread and it convinced me to upgrade from Pop (which I do love but I've stayed there for 3/4 trips). Going on a solo trip 10/10- 10/15... I think I'm going to put in a room request for the Casitas section, I think it's really striking in pictures!

Really excited for my trip, got all of my Magical express and package info in the mail today! :cool1:

Thank you for the info on this today.

I paid my remaining balance today and received my confirmation email. :cool1: I'm going to call in a couple of weeks and make our reservation for massages while we're there. :yay:

46 days until we return to WDW and try out CSR!:cheer2:

Planning a trip for 2012. My DH mentioned staying at the Poly, but we are not in our room much, so I don't really wan't to spend that kind of money. I'm thinking CSR... we have 2 kids (they are now 8 and 6). We stayed at ASMu in a FS this summer (there were 5 of us) and we really liked it. We just want to try something different. Do you think DH and DD's will like CSR compared to Poly? DD's LOVED ASMu... will they like CSR? Any input will be a great help.

TIA!

Just my 2 cents.....my DD's and DH loved the CSR this past April. We have not stayed at the Poly but did choose to eat a meal there and I would have to say we like CSR's food better. DD's loved the pool and my DH and I loved the hot tub which I heard Poly does not have. The grounds are beautiful but large in size - very pretty when walking from here to there. The bus service was great because it didn't share buses with other resorts. I think you will love the CSR and besides, it will be less money than the Poly so it can be used on other things like souveniers! Hope you enjoy whatever you decide.

Hi, we're thinking about our first trip to the CSR. Can you recommend a building close to the main pool, yet not too far from a bus stop? Also, how long does it take to stop and load at all the bus stops before exiting the resort towward the parks?

Thanks!!

We were in Cabana 8A in July, and it was located in between the cabanas bus stop (Stop 4, but the third stop picked up to and from the parks) and the Dig Site (there is a map on the first page of this thread). It was a great location! We have also been in Cabana 9A, which was a bit farther from the Dig Site and in between the Cabana and El Centro stops. Rancho 7B is another good building as long as you don't mind being farther away from El Centro. Rancho 6B is also pretty close to the Dig Site and not too far from the Rancho bus stop. Casitas 4 and 5 are close to the Casita bus stop (first stop picked up) but a bit of a walk to the pool.

The buses move through the four stops very quickly - 5-10 minutes to circle the resort unless they have to load a wheelchair.

Yay! So DH finally agreed to go to Disney again next yr. We are looking at the end of August or Sept. I have been wanting to go to CSR for a long time and it looks like its finally gonna happen! Soo excited!

This was a trip of some ups and downs! I get so much info from these forums that I wanted to contribute some thoughts and experiences as well!

We booked in as a GG. I've got 3 little ones, youngest is not yet 3 so we were okay in a standard room. Got put into Casitas 5 with a parking lot view. Not too much of an issue as we figured we would be at the hotel very little. Sadly, they were painting building 5 and all the vehicles were in that parking lot. They also started work early in the morning and the beeping of trucks, smell of paint, and wet paint signs everywhere made it absolutely unbearable for us. I will commend Manager Lori for taking good care of us and moving us to Casitas 3 with 2 rooms side-by side for our GG. (letter is being drafted to send to Disney to thank her!). Hubby was rather cranky and she managed him very well! :scared1: We were comped a night's stay for our trouble, which soothed angry husband. The painting really was quite horrible, and I can't actually believe they were booking people into those rooms to be honest with you. The good news is that once the painting is done, it's done right! ( or at least until next time!) I'm sure Casitas 5 is very safe now! :)

We found that the walk to the dig site was worth it (even though our "new" room was right near the quiet pool) and the kids loved it. The walk to the El Centro was also not bad, and the girls loved the variety of critter we encountered on our walks.

I really liked the Pepper Market. The portions are HUGE! I also found them to be very "loose' with the dining plan and they weren't recording drinks or anything. I suppose it was too much hassle for them? They also never charged us a gratuity, despite being told they would so we made sure to bring cash with us. Service was a bit slow but the food was tasty. Choices for kids were pretty limited but in many cases we'd have them share some of ours because the portions were so big.

We loved having our car there with us. CSR is very centrally located and the drive to the parks was minimal and easy. We never got lost like we did when we stayed at All Star Music! Our friends who used the buses had nothing but positive comments about them. One night, they even had a private ride over to meet us at AKL for dinner at Boma! Driver had no one for AK and simply radio'd in the change and took them over himself!

I LOVED the Queen beds soooo much! Lots of pillows and good mattresses. WE put an air mattress down for our "extra" kid and had no problems at all with space. We moved one of the ottomen into the bathroom and my little ones used it to reach the sink for teeth brushing and hand washing. The doors dividing the two spaces was also great. WE could have the lights on and not disturb the girls. The curtains at other resorts let too much light through and we spent a lot of time sitting in the dark.

WE had a good time at CSR. NOt sure if we will be back (thinking of off site for our next visit) but the Queen Beds are a real temptation! I'd like to try it again when it's NOT August. The heat made walking seem worse than it probably was. However, the grounds were gorgeous and there was certainly nothing wrong with the AC!

Thanks for all the advice and info on this thread! I was very well prepared for our trip! Thanks everyone!

We're within our 10 days now, but it's a long weekend here.

Am I still able to fax our room request in, or do I need to wait until Tuesday?

Hi all! I'm trying to decide what area of CSR will work best for us during our upcoming stay 12/10 to 12/17. We will have a rental car for the duration, so the bus stops are not an issue (unless you think we are better for some parks to take the bus than deal with parking?)

DH & I like the hot tub after a long day of walking (DH will do laundry while in the hot tub - is that possible or are they in different areas?)

DD 10 & 14 would also like the pool!

We plan to have some meals at Pepper Market, but other than that am unsure how important being close to El Centro is?

DD 14 just returned from a Girl Guides trip to Our Cabana in Mexico, so I think the theming here will be a cool reminder for her - but not sure what area we as a family would most prefer to request.

Your guidance is always appreciated! I love my daily emails about CSR, this board is such a wealth of information!!

Thanks to you all!
Jennifer

Hi Jennifer...... welcome to the DIS family!!
You will LOVE CSR!! it's my favorite along with many of the posters on this thread. and definitely a "wealth of info"!!:thumbsup2

even tho you have a car.... I'd suggest the bus to MK. parking/tram/ferry/etc eats up alot of time at MK. driving to the other parks is fine, but not MK.

We stayed in 6B one year.... great location! close enough to the pool but not as "busy" an area as 8A. 7B would be great too. both 6B and 7B are in Ranchos. and close to the bus stop if you need it, and there's laundry at the quiet pool right between 6B & 7B.

and when you need to go to El Centro, cut through the Dig Site area and follow Lago Dorado to it... not a long walk at all.

have fun!!!!!!!

The laundry is near the quiet pool and the hot tub is at the digsite pool. Sorry can't do both at the same time.

Haven't been around for while. Kathy, I'm so glad your DH is doing well!! That is great news!! Your trip is soon, I think?? Have an awesome time!!!

Kathy-So glad to hear that your hubby is doing well. I can't wait to meet you both in a few weeks.
I am so excited (and totally unprepared) for my trip that starts Wednesday!!!
I just finished hosting a bridal shower, so I am ready to completly focus on CSR and Disney!!!! :thumbsup2

Very glad also to hear that hubby is alright Kathy....how stressful for you but at least all turned out well. How many nights are you staying at CSR. I am thinking more like building 9b or 9a now close to quite pool in cabanas close to dig site and bus stop and el centro. What do you think. xx

I'm confused. I was just on the WDW Disney Dining Plan 2011 link and I was unable to find CSR listed with all the other resorts that offer dining. It is listed in the 2010 link though. What gives?? We are booked to visit CSR with free dining in Aug 2011.

thanks
ann

We just back from an 11 day trip staying at CSR! We absolutely loved it and enjoyed every minute of it! We were given a room steps away from the Dig Site, and a tiny walk to the quiet pool. We loved it so much we rebooked for next August. Only issue now is we are planning to go in January, but CSR is booked solid so we are having to look at CBR or POR...

Great time and thanks for all the helpful info!!!

CSR restaurants are not owned by Disney, so they tend to get added to the dining plan for the next year closer to the end of the year. Same with the Epcot resorts. Pepper Market and Maya Grill have been added each year, but it has been later than the Disney restaurants. They should be on the 2011 list by the end of 2010.
