Talk me out of going over Thanksgiving weekend

Valentine's/President's Day Weekend - if I'm reading the ticket calendar correctly anyway
Oh I thought so. It is going to be very busy that weekend. You will not be lonely. That weekend has all 3 special events overlapping, and Presidents' week is very popular for many school districts with Mardi Gras 2026 starting on Tuesday Feb. 17.

I've now pivoted, again, to planning something for the first few days of the New Year 😂 My spreadsheet has 100 rows at this point.

If you're looking for less expensive dates in the spring, try the last week in Jan/first week in Feb or the last week in Feb/first week in March. Those are not long weekend dates though.

If you're still looking for some over the top christmas decor/light displays, have you considered your local theme parks for thanksgiving? The ones around us do some nice displays, I think of it as "disney-lite"...the biggest drawback (in my area at least) is that we have to wear 4 layers to enjoy it!

I have been several times over Thanksgiving and it is nothing like Spring break crowds, in fact, we have had great trips at this time of year. We have spent Thanksgiving Day in AK and wonderful with normal crowds, not huge crowds.
This year the whole government debacle has me worried. Crowds maybe less if people cancel because of this, however, flying is a mess if the government remains shut down. I am canceling my trip if this is the case.
