Just booked 2 weeks in August at Coronado Springs! This is our first time at this resort & we can't wait.
It all worked out great, we will be there Aug.21- Sept.04, so our kids won't miss any school!:)
We also got the free dining:cool1:. The count down is on.

Wow...two weeks...I am jealous! And :thumbsup2 for not missing any school...good for you guys. :woohoo::woohoo:

This may have already been answered somewhere but I haven't seen it yet.

Is this place just really hard to get in or do I just pick the wrong times to stay here?!?!?! I have stayed here once, right after it opened. I believe it was the first year it opened actually. We LOVED it!!

Last year we went the end of Oct and booked many months in advance but could not get a room here. I just checked for dates at the beginning of Nov. and it said not available again.

I know this is the holy grail of moderate resorts...at least I think so.. but is there any hope that trying again later that we might get a shot at staying here in Nov???

What dates in November are you looking at? Is there a convention going on? It could be the rooms are blocked for now. I must admit I've never had trouble getting my dates (although I was not able to originally get the first night for our upcomign trip, but I kept calling and it opened up). I don't know that I would call it the "holy grail" of moderate resorts. In my opinion, yes, but you will find those who disagree. ;) I think the new queen beds have become a big draw and that might be making it harder and harder to get in.

Just back from a FABULOUS 9 days at CSR!!! Thank you KatMark for the beautiful photos and great advice about this resort. We requested Cabanas 8B. We got our request as well as a little Pixie Dust.pixiedust: We got upgraded to waterview!!!! :cool1:Out of our window was a LOVELY view of El Centro, the bridge, and the main pool. Perfect view to look at each night before bed, and each morning. DD has asked to stay here again next time. She loved the main pool and slide. Thanks again!!!:goodvibes

The 2nd week of Nov.

I think CSR feels like a deluxe at a moderate price. And you just can't beat that pool!

WOW...2 weeks...Free Dining...and No Missed School. :thumbsup2

My kids usually go back the 2nd or 3rd week of August...and have random single days off in the fall.

seems like the only way I could every take advantage of Free Dining is to take the Kids out of school for a week.

I told them they could get their Homework in advance and do it in the room while DW and I lounge at the pool...or in one of Kathy's Hammocks. That went over real well. :lmao:

I only have one Hammock -- but as you know you are one of my favorite people and you can use it any time. What if you took the kids out for like three days and went to DW for those three days and the weekend and maybe there would be a holiday that Monday....then you'd have six days. Just a thought.... :)

Not that I'm planning a trip...but I've noticed this too.

For example for the Current offer of 20% off at Moderates...CSR was not available...CBR and POR were.

I was looking for rooms in the Mid-June time frame...and started looking right when it was announced. When Visa announced Free Dining...that day of I started looking...nothing for the weeks in Sept I wanted ot test price.

Last year for my first trip to the CSR...I had no trouble.

I agree with Kathy...that the Queen Beds are probably the draw...

As DW and I are some-what Pooh-sized...if I had to book a Double Bed at another Moderate...I'd just save the Money and go with a Value...but that's just us.

LOL! We will be taking my son out of school for a week! I told him he will have to do all his make-up work on the flight down and the 1st evening and he couldn't do any parks, pool etc. until it was done (of course I was just kidding ;)) He looked at me like I was crazy and said "I will be too excited to do homework!" In about 2 weeks I will be occupying one of those hammocks....can't wait!:woohoo:

We were able to add Free Dining this morning too! I am so excited for our 1st stay at CSR!!! Now we need to work on a get together because I think there are a few others going to be there around the same time in September. We are going Sept 13-21st! After all the great info in this thread, we switched our request from Cabana's to Casitas 3. I can't wait

We will be there around the same time! :goodvibes It will be our first stay at CSR. What dates are you going?

We booked CSR for 6 - 13 November back in early January. At that time, Disney's website was only showing just straight up King rooms with availability. I was playing around with our dates about a week or 10 days later and all of a sudden there was nothing available for that spread of dates. I then checked each date individually. 6 Nov was not a problem and neither was 18/19 November. It was the dates in between where there was not a room of any type to be found.

First, that is not necessarily true about the "conventioneers" strictly being in the Casitas. It depends on how large the convention is, if they paid for Club service, etc. On all eight of our visits, there has been a convention going on (if not two) and we've never been troubled by the convention people.

No, none of the slides at any of the resorts will let you go down with a child. However, you can get a life jacket and she could go down and you can wait at the bottom to catch her. I think the ideal situation is all three of you go up to the slide, one of the adults go down first, then your daughter and then the last adult follow. This might make her feel a little more "secure" for her first time.

Thanks Kathy! There is such a wealth of information on this thread! :worship: Good to know about the slide. I will have to see how adventurous DD is feeling!

What are the dates you are going if you don't mind me asking? I know you said September which is when we are going. :goodvibes

Congratulations! We just stayed at CSR in February, in Casitas 4, and it was beautiful. Didn't mind the walk anywhere...its Florida, its CSR, and its BEAUTIFUL! I didn't feel like we walked more than five-eight minutes to get anywhere and the longest walk was to the pool. Bus service, if you're using it, was excellent the entire time we were there. The rooms are gorgeous and the new beds and linens are fantastic.

Have a wonderful time and you're in the right place to have all of your CSR questions answered.

Thank yo for all the great information! I agree, it is going to beautiful, I don't care about the walk. Hey, it will help us from gaining weight while we are down there. :rotfl2:

I am so glad there is this thread!

I agree it does feel like a deluxe at a moderate rate! Members of our traveling party normally stay at Boardwalk and they are really looking forward to trying CSR. :goodvibes

We arrive late the evening of September 17 and depart on September 21 (we will go to MK on the 21st until around 4 p.m. before driving back to Marco Isalnd).

Does anyone know if Disney does block dates, and why they do it? We stayed at CSR last Sept. and tried for 2 weeks to book for this Sept, but no luck. We decided to splurge and go to AK instead. DH is convinced that Disney blocks the standard rooms in certain resorts in order to encourage ppl to book at others, like POR or CBR. He says there`s no way that the whole resort can be full for our week. Any thoughts...

That could be it...but CSR is a convention resort so I'm sure a lot of the rooms are booked in blocks for large groups and then given a cut off date when the remainder of the unclaimed rooms are released. I used to work in the hospitality industry and there would be times when events were going on and people would block several rooms and we would give them a cut off date. We could be completely booked 6 months in advance but as those cut offs came up we would have availability again. Just another thought.

I had originally booked while we were there last September for around the time period we are going. I then had to cancel. I had no problems when I called last week to rebook or Monday when adding the free dining. I just checked the convention list and all we have listed is a group from September 24-27; the F& Wine starts in September as well and that brings a lot of people too. Other than that, I'm not sure why CSR would be booked up already. Perhaps too many people are falling in love with it like us? ;)

Yes, it was one night from Sept. 21-28 that was the problem; I think it was the 26th. It likely is something to do with large groups & conventions; although I agree that CSR is great value for a moderate resort, especially now it is remodelled, and probably just a lot of ppl are realizing that.

I had tried a year ahead to book CSR for the first week in October and nothing was available. I also checked the convention list and couldn't find anything booked for that week.

So, I guess it's true - CSR must be as good as you all say it is! :goodvibes

We're booked at Pop now - which I love - but of course I'd switch to CSR in a skinny minute if anything opens up. Keeping my fingers crossed.
