We will be there around the same time! :goodvibes It will be our first stay at CSR. What dates are you going?

We arrive late the evening of September 17 and depart on September 21 (we will go to MK on the 21st until around 4 p.m. before driving back to Marco Isalnd).

That's 3 of us so far!!! We are there 13th-21st so we should all get together! Kathy, I'll keep your hammock nice and cozy for you until the 17th! I was thinking of making some homemade Mickey Cookies to leave each day with our Mousekeeping envelope so as soon as we know as many Disers we have, I can make some for everyone!

I think CSR feels like a deluxe at a moderate price. And you just can't beat that pool!

I couldn't agree more.

It's amazing (and really cool!:thumbsup2) how people's opinions can differ so much! We've visited all of the Disney resorts at one point or another, and have stayed at several. Once we hit CSR, we knew we had found "home!" I think your description really nails it. To me, the only significant differences between CSR and the deluxes are the fact that you access your room from outside, and the rooms themselves are slightly smaller. When I found out that the renovations had included the addition of queen size beds, that was the ultimate icing on the cake. On our last trip, we brought a single air mattress and the four of us rotated, so that only one of the double beds would be "full" on any given night! But no more!! I actually get to sleep in the same bed with my DW for the whole trip (unless I screw up somehow, which is distinctly possible!!:rotfl2::rotfl2:)!!

Having a spa on site is awesome.

Out of all the Disney pools, I think the Dig Site is second only to SAB in terms of atmosphere and amenities.

We LOVE the Pepper Market (both DD's insist on eating there constantly when we're there-and what a great value when your on the DDP)!

The bus service is exclusive and you almost never have to stand or wait too long.

The three distinct sections make it feel like a new and different place every visit.

GREAT quiet pools.

Scenery and landscaping that's second to none on property.

Wow.......I guess I could just gush on and on.....!!:rolleyes1 It just hits that absolute sweet spot between cost and value that we can't resist! I suppose that someday a stay at a monorail resort or within walking distance to Epcot would be really cool, but until we hit the lotto, I'll spend my money wisely and stay for an extra week at CSR instead of "splurgin" on the Beach Club!!

I tried a little "Dis" meet last year and it didn't work out too well...everyone was someplace else. However, I really want to try to get as many of us together that are there at the same time this year...even if only for a quick cup of coffee or something. Or a drink in World Showcase.

I could NOT have said this any better, and I think you summed up the feelings of ALL of us who love the CSR most eloquently. Thank you. :thumbsup2

No, none of the slides at any of the resorts will let you go down with a child. However, you can get a life jacket and she could go down and you can wait at the bottom to catch her. I think the ideal situation is all three of you go up to the slide, one of the adults go down first, then your daughter and then the last adult follow. This might make her feel a little more "secure" for her first time.

How deep is the water at the bottom of the slide? Can an adult stand there? Or is it much deeper?

I'm wondering - is it worth the upgrade to get a water view, or are all of the rooms more or less comparable?

No, an adult can stand there with no problem. I'm not sure of the exact depth...maybe 3-4 feet??? But I used to stand there all the time for my youngest one when they went with us (and I'm 5'7...well, maybe less than that...I think I shrunk a little).

WOW...2 weeks...Free Dining...and No Missed School. :thumbsup2

My kids usually go back the 2nd or 3rd week of August...and have random single days off in the fall.

seems like the only way I could every take advantage of Free Dining is to take the Kids out of school for a week.

I told them they could get their Homework in advance and do it in the room while DW and I lounge at the pool...or in one of Kathy's Hammocks. That went over real well. :lmao:

We're taking our kids out of school. For 2 weeks - 4 days after school starts! :rotfl:

Now we have never gone ANYWHERE before. Plus I'll be making them spend an hour on school work, and an hour reading, every day during the summer. So I don't feel guilty in the slightest. :goodvibes

No, I woudl not pay for a water view. We did it once in our eight trips. However, we've been fortunate to be upgraded to a water view numerous times at the CSR. However, as there are no balconies and you are seldom in the room, I just don't see paying the extra $25 a night.

I agree with Kathy...that the Queen Beds are probably the draw...

As DW and I are some-what Pooh-sized...if I had to book a Double Bed at another Moderate...I'd just save the Money and go with a Value...but that's just us.

Yep! Between the queen size beds, and not having to pay for a fridge - that drew us to consider CSR. Now I'm so looking forward to it!!

I had told my TA on the weekend, that if FD could not be applied to our CSR reservation, that I did not want to consider another moderate. It's not worth paying the extra for double beds... I said we'll take POP.

Thankfully there was no issue getting the FD applied to our CSR ressies! :goodvibes

Does anyone know if Disney does block dates, and why they do it? We stayed at CSR last Sept. and tried for 2 weeks to book for this Sept, but no luck. We decided to splurge and go to AK instead. DH is convinced that Disney blocks the standard rooms in certain resorts in order to encourage ppl to book at others, like POR or CBR. He says there`s no way that the whole resort can be full for our week. Any thoughts...

I kind of agree with him. I just find it hard to believe the entire resort can be booked up.

However, it's quite possible there's many rooms set aside for conventions that just aren't filled yet. And then will be released later.

4! Our family is there from the 14-21st.

Great, thanks! So my daughter will have no issues then. I'll walk our son out to see if he's tall enough. And if not, or just not enough - he can wear a life jacket.

We are staying at CSR for the first time in June. The queen beds are definitely what drew us to this resort. :lovestruc

ONLY 44 more days to go!!:banana:

Kathy, we are going to CSR for our first stay 9/14-9/21. We'd love to do a DIS meet. Let's get one going. How about a drink or three in the World Showcase while watching Off Kilter?

Our exact dates are September 11th-18th. We will be heading off midday or so on the 18th. Would love to be able to do a DIS meet at CSR if possible. Wow there are five us it seems that are staying at CSR over similar dates. Could we figure out a CSR DIS meet? :goodvibes

I will barely catch you Kathy! We leave on the 18th, midday. Would breakfast time work?

Woohoo! that would be great!! Our dates overlap by quite a bit. We are there from 11-18th. Do you have your park days figured out?

Another set of overlapping dates!! It is funny how I knew only one DISer with similar dates, now there are several more and all staying at CSR! :goodvibes

Have the rooms in the Casitas section been renovated? This seems like the area most convenient to the restaurants & bus stop 2.

Thanks

Yes, all of the rooms at CSR have been renovated. We love the new look.

We'll be there 9/14 to 9/23. It looks like that's a popular time for CSR!

I checked the convention list a while ago and the last time I checked there were not any conventions during our trip, though I don't know how often that list is updated.

If there is a Dis Meet-Up, please post! I figured out which parks/which days, but am not sure yet which evenings we'll be "home." We are doing the 9/18 MNSSHP. I bought our tickets yesterday! :hmghost:

We are officially booked now that I booked our airfare. We will be there from 8/17 to the 27th. We will be with another family possibly 2 families.
We have stayed at pofq and pop. Anything we should make sure we do staying here. What is not to be missed? Thanks for any tips and suggestions.
