Hey everyone, we will be in Disneyworld from Feb. 1-6. Right now I have ressies at CSR, but I have been reading on the DVC board about purchasing points from someone. I can purchase points and stay at OKW for the same amount I am paying for CSR. What do you think, is it worth switching? At OKW, I will have a microwave and a small fridge. I will be getting a studio room if I switch. I just have not read much on OKW so wasn't too sure of everyones opinions.

The OKW studio has the biggest bathroom on site. Room to walk around in. Room for three or four people to stand up in.

If you want to rent points, you need to do it quickly. Members are hesitant to rent out points with less than 30 days out because if the renter cancels, their points go into a holding account that only lets them use them with a short notice (30 days).

You will probably have to pay the member the entire amount up front to make the reservation or at least once they make the reservation.

You'll have two queen sized beds and a small table with two chairs. Plus a small balcony with a chair and small table.

The studio sleeps four. If you rent points, you will not get a daily cleaning. You'll have to make your own bed. You will get your towels replaced and the trash picked up on your fourth day. If you stay eight or more days, you'll get a full cleaning including new towels and the bedding changed on day four.

I've stayed at both and I would suggest OKW as well. WHen I first stayed at OKW I was a little worried about it- not sure if I would like it because it was so old .... and CS is so much newer. BUT - I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed staying at OKW and would stay there again in a heartbeat. All rooms have been renovated within the last year- It's a great value- room's are bigger and the feel of the resort is fantastic. Request a room located close to the Hospitality House. The most recently renovated rooms are right across from that (buildings 11-14)- they were being renovated when we were down there in October. HOWEVER... if you have young children or kid's that enjoy a pool slide- then go to CSR- as OKW's doesn't have a pool slide and is rather small. While this may just contradict what I just said- I haven't been in a pool in at least 12 years, but in Oct. when we stayed at OKW- I actually swam at the pool! That is because the atmosphere there is so accepting of everyone that I felt comfortable enough to put a suit on and swim. BTW- OKW has bathtubs with showers in the tubs- and the bathrooms are very roomy- as are the studios. MUch bigger then CSR as I recall.

I've stayed at both and would choose CSR for its central location to the theme parks and ammenities (pool with slide, boating, etc...). I stayed at OKW a few years ago and at the time the bus transportation was bad. Waited 30-35 minutes on average for bus service to the theme parks. Maybe it was just an off week. Who knows? I would only stay at OKW if you have a car. I found very isolated there. The room was nice though. Food options are limited at OKW other than the restaurant and small take out area. CSR has the food court, Maya Grill Restaurant and several bars to choose from.

We stayed in a 1 bedroom at OKW in Nov/Dec. We rented points for this and in my opinion this is the best value there is. The resort is relaxing and beautiful. The room was great. We moved to OKW from AKL concierge (which was out of this world) I was concerned that OKW would be a dissappointment to my 12 ds after AKL. When we got home my mom asked him which resort he liked the best and he didn't even hesitate on saying OKW. I would have had to at least think about it awhile.
We stayed in the Southpoint area and walked to DD several evenings. We have already rented points for our next trip in October from the same person.

OKW use to have horrible bus transportation - you notice I used the word have - but by at least last year - that changed big time - now the wait is generally less than 20 minutes - most of the time less than 10 minutes - great improvement.

OKW is very home like - a small community - we (Okw members) like it like that - but some others DVC members do not - it doesn't even in a studio - feel like a hotel - if you want that feeling stay with CSR.

However I appreciate not having eat out at every meal - being able to relax after a hard day in the parks....

OKW has 4 pools and 4 bus stops - so you are never far from one.

All OKW building are either 2 or 3 stories high - that can be a problem because only the newest building (62,63,64) have elevators. You don't want a first floor because they are mostly handicapped - yes they are a few non-handicapped but they are used mostly for the elderly.

besides the view are much, much better on the 2nd or 3rd floor - they are water, golf or woods - you can also ask to be near a bus stop, pool or the HH. I don't like to be by the HH (it is the place where everything is happening) - why - the traffic - OKW does not have alot of traffic most days - but HH is pretty busy.

I prefer a place where I can walk and day dream - not walk and have to watch to traffic - my opinion!!!

Thanks for all of the replies, I went ahead and switched to OKW, I am getting it for about $60 cheaper than I had CSR. I don't think I will be disappointed no matter where I stay. I have never stayed on Disney property before and this is only my second time to go to Disney!

Since there isn't maid service everyday, do we at least get a change of towels each day?

Wow, you are getting an OKW studio for $60.00 cheaper than a room at CSR for the same number of nights??? That is quite a discount! Is there a code or something for this rate?
No, you will not get clean towels everyday just on trash and towel day, but there are w&d by the pools that are free to guests if you want to wash your own towels, or you can pay extra for more towels. Enjoy!

Hi, my total for 5 nights is only going to be $500. My total at CSR after the CTH code was around $560 with tax. I bought DVC points from someone on the DVC board. Her points are $10 per point and this resort takes 10 points per night, so it was 50 points total. This is the studio room. I'm really excited to go, I just wish I could find out more information and pictures on this resort, there isn't alot that I have found. But almost everything I have read has been really good about it.

Kim- go to www.wdwig.com and click on resorts there are lots of pics there. I did a search on AOL for Old Key West- Walt Disney World and a tons of sites came up- there are bound to be reviews and pics you can find there. You could also go to the DVC thread board here and ask there for sites for OKW- they'll ahve some good ones for you to look at. Good Luck! You'll LOVE OKW!

You've made an excellent choice. A CSR room is 314 sq. ft an OKW studio is 376 sq. ft and includes a private balcony or patio.

Thanks everyone for all of the replies, I think I made a good choice! I just can't wait to go now! I have been looking around and have found a few sites with a little more info, it looks really nice. I don't think I will be disappointed no matter where I stay since I have never stayed onsite before.

Hi, I just went to the DVC board on this site and was reading there. I bought the points for $10 per point, and I needed 50 points total, 10 for each night I will be there. I bought enough for 2 studios because my parents will be traveling with us. There is one board that you can post if you are looking for points to buy and people also post what they have available for others to rent.
