I am in the begining stages of planning a trip. We want to try a new resort. It will be me, my wife, and an 18 month old at the time of the trip.

Talk me into staying at your favorite resort.

Great pool area, good restaurant and food court, newest of the mods, boat rentals on the lake.

Of course the same can be said for most of the moderate resorts (although I think the pool area is the best of the mods) , so it comes down to ambiance at the resort. I really like the look and feel of the place. IMHO that's the beauty of the WDW resorts, there is something for everyone but it's a personal choice. Just because (many) others like a particular set up, it doesn't mean you will. So I can only say look at the information/pictures of the resort. If you decide you like the look of the themeing then I'm certain you'll be happy with the resort.

It may be the only moderate with a fitness centre - I think so but can't be sure!
A minor point for many travellers, but if you want/need internet access, CSR is the only moderate with high speed internet access. The rest of the mods and values have dial up access.
I've heard of people using the high speed access for work (ugh!) and play (uploading vacation photos, posting on-the-spot Trip Reports, etc...), so I thought I'd add it.
CSR also has suites, not sure about the other mods.

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

CSR is our favorite mod for many reasons but I'll do it from our perspective when our DD was 18 months old.

The playground is not sand or woodchips which eliminates the sand in the eye and splinter problem. It is some kind of flat rubberized flooring that is actually a little bouncy -- great for toddlers. There is a climbing gym desinged for little ones as well. The playground sits by the very large pool and on the opposite side of the pool is the kiddie pool which has fountains and is only about aa foot deep. Perfect for little ones to run through.

The resort is not loud and because of its size it never feels crowded or overly busy. In the evenings, at bedtime, my husband and I would take our daughter on a stroll around the lake. It was beautiful, even romantic to stroll around with her in the stroller and the great part was that she fell asleep and we had a wonderful evening sitting by the fountains and relaxing and doing something we rarely have time for at home -- talking.

The food court is by far the best on property offering that largest variety of foods that will satisfy everyone. The great part is that you are seated by a waiter so you don't have to scramble around trying to find a table with a stroller in tow. You can sit with baby while your spouse goes and gets food the spouse sits with baby while you go and get food. Drinks are brought to your table and someone busses your table for you. The arrangement worked so much better for us than the the other mods where we had to searchfor a table then carry drinks all the while manuvering a stroller. The drawback for most people is that a 10% gratuity is automatically added to your bill -- which you pay after you are done eating not before. I didn't think this was excessive as I have always had great experiences with the wait staff here.

The restaurant is also very good although a little exotic for my DH's taste. However, the breakfast buffet is totally wonderful.

The rooms are very nice although we miss having two sinks. However, the playpen they provide for use as a crib fits nicely between the two beds and keeps the rest of the room free for traffic.

The bus service is the most dependable and, also, because of the location, has the shortest travel times to all the parks (unless you are on the monorail). This is great at the end of the day when you are very tired or in the middle of the day when you need to go back to the resort to relax. My DD always would have a meltdown mid day due to sitting in her stroller most of the time so we would go to the playground and pool to let her blow off steam and then return to the parks at night.

If you have any specific questions about CSR just ask. I will try to answer them as best I can as my family has stayed there over 15 times.

But as said before, any hotel has to be your choice based on your research. The research can be just as much fun as the trip once you get started.

have fun

Since we get a car, we're choosing to go back to CSR because it's so convenient, driving wise, to all the parks. Zip off the highway, zip back on (and yet it's its own universe inside, a million miles away).

In driving to more "interior" resorts I felt like I was driving forever on back roads.

I booked CSR based upon DIS comments ~~ what's nice for some isn't necessarily good for others.

I am here at the resort right now and do NOT like it at all .... of all the Disney resorts we've stayed at, our experiences here have not compared favorably and we will not ever stay here again. I tried to change resorts earlier in our stay, but there was nothing available so we are just making the best of it.

I won't go into details now - will post later when I return home if anyone is interested.

I am very interested in why CSR is not working for you :confused3 . We have ressies for Thanksgiving weekend based also on the reviews on this board but would love to hear both sides. TIA.

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate experiences. I hope you are able to salvage some good ones during your stay.

As all resorts, it may not be thea guests cup of tea or something unpleasant can happen at any resort but it shouldn't ruin a trip.

We love CSR. The pool, the Pepper Market, the transportation and the grounds. It is so beautiful. You'll have a great time. I recommend buzz's site for information.

I agree, not all vacations go as planned 100% of the time. I've experienced ups and downs at WDW resorts too. Sometimes things happen.

As far as CSR goes, we love it. It is our favorite moderate resort. Our kids loves the pool and slide. I find it difficult to believe that everything would be so terrible that you can even enjoy the pool and the beautiful grounds. But, to each their own.

Ditto on buzz2001's site. It helped us plan our trip. Everything is spelled out so there were no surprises.

Wow thanks for this awesome feedback! We are staying here for the 1st time in Oct. & I can't wait :cool1:

I guess it is a matter of personal opinion. We love CSR. We stayed there for the 3rd time earlier this month. I have learned from reading this boards that just because one person likes something doesn't mean another person will. You really have to try it for yourself and then decide. Everyone has different opinions and experiences. If you like the way the rooms and property look then give it a try.

Yes, it has gotten better since we've been here :) so I am getting a better feeling on the resort, thank goodness. We're still here until Friday. I'd just written a long post detailing some of our stay so far, BUT got kicked off the internet here in the room & lost it all!! Don't have the time right now to go through it again, but I will post later.

My main point is that not all resorts are for everyone. That's why it's nice there are so many different Disney resort choices. It's very hard to choose a resort for the first time based on others' opinions, but it is a good starting place. Read the reviews, look at pictures, just think about whether or not the theme of the resort fits with your expectations for a vacation.

Viewing the resort overall, I can certainly see why 'some' say this is their favorite. Our stay just started out very badly & took a while until it got better (and there are some things I truly don't care for about the resort), so this just isn't the one for us.

Cpersmom: I hope that you went to the front desk and reported whatever caused your bad feeling toward your resort. I've had bad experiences at almost every hotel and with the exception of The All Stars and POR the problems were worked out quickly and satisfactorily. The cast at CSR went way beyond that on one instance -- one of the reasons I am so loyal to CSR. If they can't resolve the problem ask to be transferred to another resort. They will do that for you. There is no sense in spending all that money at the World and not enjoying your visit because of problems at a resort. Also, be sure that you let WDW Customer Service know of the problems via e-mail either now (so they can step in and rectify the situation) or when you get home (if the problem gets resolved earlier). This is all assuming that the problem is not just that you don't like the theming or some other aspect of the resort.

I agree. Resolve any issues while you're there. Don't wait until you come home.
