Hello all,

I have reservations for the CSR 3rd week in June. I didn't know much at all about the resort when I made my reservation, it was just one that was offered that had the Armed Forces Salute discount.

I just booked 3 rooms, non-smoking, two connecting. Now that I know about all the different areas, I'm wondering if I can call and request a specific area. Does anyone know if all of the areas offer connecting rooms? Also, I have 5 year old twins who I could see getting very tired after a day at the park and not want to walk 15 min from the bus to the room...which would be the best area to avoid that?

Thanks
Carol

We went to CSR in March and loved it. You should never have more than a five minute walk to or from a bus stop, because there are four different stops around the resort. Also, it is not nearly as spread out as I was led to believe. We were in Ranchos, which is the farthes away from the main building and it took me only about 5-7 minutes to walk there at a normal pace. I'm not sure if all of the sections have connecting rooms, but ours did. You can call or fax room requests five days prior to your arrival, but they will not guarantee them. We did this and still did not get what we asked for, but they did move us from the rooms they originally had us booked in at my request when we checked in because our room was too far from the main pool. It will just depend on what is available when you get there. Epcot Fan has a CSR website that has maps and pictures which should help you out with your planning. Also go to the CSR FAQ thread here on the DIS Boards for everything you need to know and more about CSR. Have a magical time.:D

Hi Carol!

You will love CSR--it's my favorite resort. We stayed in both the Casitas and Ranchos on our last trip and I highly recommend Casitas because it is a very convient location--close the El Centro and the Dig Site. We were in building 2 which was great--right near the Casitas quiet pool, laundry, salon, and healthclub. All sections to have connecting rooms, so you won't have to worry about that. The Ranchos were nice, but it was a walk to get to El Centro (We were in 6B). If you have time, please check out my review on CSR--it has more info on the sections we stayed in, plus everything else about the resort. Hope it helps!

Did I read your report correctly? Can you see Illuminations fireworks from the CSR? Can you see them only from the Casitas quiet pool?

Yes! We were able to see lots of high Illuminations fireworks from the Casitas quiet pool--it was very cool! I'm not sure how the viewing would be from other areas of the resort. Casitas would be the furthest back looking towards Epcot. It was such a cool surprise when we were in the pool--we heard them, and then we looked over from the pool towards the resort lake and there they were!

No problem! I hope you enjoy CSR!

our first time there also in august, one of the guide books hints that you can walk to blizzard beach, is that true?

Dalton...

There is no walking path from CSR to Blizzard BeachI suppose you could walk to Blizzard Beach if you really wanted to--it is very close, but I wouldn't recommend it. You would have to cross a major highway--it is across from CSR, not on the same side. The bus ride is very quick and more convenient, especially if you have a lot of things to take along with you.

All sections have a bus stop you your walk to your room wouldn't be bad. Your walk to the main building could be if you were in the ranchos. The whole walk around the lake is just a bit over a mile. The average person can walk a mile in 10 - 15 mins so you are never that far from any location at CSR

The size of this resort is grossly exaggerated on these boards. When I arrived there, I was SHOCKED that I could see the main pool area from the Main lobby building. In fact, you can see the whole resort around the lake, except for a couple of the buildings in Ranchos. There are a few "shortcut" paths, too, here and there, so you aren't walking in a complete circle with no other path to choose. The walk is very enjoyable, as every square inch of this place has things to see. I walked all around one day taking pictures. Eveyone I met walking around the resort was commenting to each other on how beautiful it was. I got back to the room and then made my DH take a walk around (2nd time for me) to see what I'd seen.
