Hi. We are booked business class Coronado in may, and i called today to request connecting rooms for my family and my in-laws. I asked if my in-laws could get a king bed and the cm seemed to have no idea if they were even offered in that area. anyone have experience with this?

Business Class King Room is a bookable category. You can't request it, you have to book it.

ok. i was looking for that when i booked back in early January, but all there was was standard

Even if you book one you may not get it. We checked in on Saturday to what was supposed to be a king room in business class. They put us on a standard view king room and gave us access to the lounge instead. Only after I complained did they offer a refund of the difference. We got stuck with a parking lot view too. We were moving to Poly for our last night so I just asked to be moved a night early instead. The whole thing left a bad taste in my mouth

Majority of the rooms in business class are king rooms

From Buzz's website
43 king
23 standard

That explains why only king rooms in business class were avail when I was looking end of Sept/early oct trip. The last time I looked no business class rooms were avail for the time. Booked Pop for now and will see if any room only discounts come out to maybe upgrade

yikes. I haven't heard of this happening at CSR before. what building were you in?

Ah, I flip-flopped them in my head and thought it was the other way around.

...although, really, that's a total of 66 rooms at a resort with, what, 1800? So I'd guess that if a room gets taken out of service, they're stuck putting someone in 9A and giving them lounge access anyway. Not a lot of extra.

It can happen if they overbook business class or a convention comes in and wants all those rooms.

or if a toilet overflows and the room gets taken out of service!

ew, toilet overflow.

this second reason (a problem with the room in general) makes sense to me--it can certainly happen anywhere. I don't love the idea that a convention could take priority if they book afterwards.

They put us next door in 9A

Hmm, at least you were still in the cabanas. I would be disappointed though too. I hope the extra night at the Poly helped the situation :goodvibes

People do ridiculous stuff to hotel plumbing, I am reliably informed.

I got the impression from the staff that the room we were to go in was taken out of service for some reason

And yes, a 2 nd night at the Poly did help, a lot. It was DH's idea when he saw how disappointed i was with it all at CSR. If we'd at least gotten a view I would have been happier. As silly as it sounds of makes a difference to me

I don't blame you at all--I can see being disappointed when something sudden changes like this.
