Corkage Fee

Does anyone know if any of the Disney Bars/Restaurants (Wilderness Lodge, in particular) have a corkage fee if I bring my own wine or champagne?

A group of my friends and I are doing the Disney Marathon and I thought it would be nice to celebrate with a couple special bottles from my collection...any thoughts?

Thanks!

I may be wrong but I think Disney doesn't allow anyone to BYOB to their restaurants and as far as I know the only Disney park restaurant that even allows liquor is in Epcot. As for Disney hotel or DTD restaurants, I am not certain - hopefully someone else will chime to confirm:)

I don't know about WL but I do know that V&A does offer that option. Or at least they did the last time we dined there which was about a year and a half ago.

I would call the restaurant directly if no one else knows for sure. Sorry.

Actually, the only place at Disney you're not allowed to have alcohol is at the Magic Kingdom. All of the other parks, resorts, etc, allow it.

The issue of a corkage fee is a good question, though. Have you tried calling 407-WDW-DINE?

Thanks...guess I've stumped the panel on this one...lol

Calling WDW-Dine is a good idea though...I'll let you know what I find out...

I would not go by any answer you get from Disney Dining. For many more common questions about transportation to restaurants, etc, they are renowned for giving incorrect info. They are very pleasant and can book your PSs but that is about all.

I'm sure you'll be fine at V&A. But if you are thinking of doing it at Artist Point I would call the restaurant directly.

At the very least, it's an easy starting point to get connected directly to the various restaurants, though.

A number of Disney restaurants do allow you to bring your own wine with a corkage fee ranging from $15 - $35. Wine Spectator prints a list of the top wine restaurants in the US each year and this list includes many of the Disney high end restaurants (V&A, CG, Jiko, Citrico's, Yachtsman Steakhouse and others) and their corkage fees. If you go on the Wine Spectator web site, you may be able to get access to this information. In the alternative, I would suggest calling the restaurants directly to ask about their corkage policies.

You know Forever42, I had no idea that DD could do that. Have you had luck with that? If so, that certainly would be the way to go.

And I didn't mean to sound so harsh about DD. I've had some who do an excellent job and we can whip through 15-20 PSs in a matter of minutes. And in all the years of making hundreds of PSs, only two of have been made incorrectly. Most do a fine job at their jobs. It's just that they are sitting in a reservation center somewhere with limited resources.

Ooh, excellent info, madalex!

Yep, they were a big help back when we were trying to get the chocolate slipper! (did that end up being a pain, as well)

Oh, no, I understand. DD has given us our share of mixups and messes before, I just recommend it as a decent starting point. I've gotten to the point with the Disney phone numbers that I just pick what I think can point me in the right direction, even if they can't answer questions directly.

Well, I called WDW-Dine and the woman tried to help me but just couldn't...

She told me that California Grill definately did not accept outside wines but there was no information about Artist's Point and that all the restaurants set their own policies...

She suggested I call AP directly but she didn't have a number...

Does anyone here have the number for AP or the Territory Lounge?

Thanks in advance!

Weird that they didn't have the numbers. :/ I'll see if Disney's website has them.

Meh, I couldn't find it quickly on the website, but Yahoo Yellow Pages gives me (407) WDW-DINE for AP. Ha ha. Nothing for the Lounge, sorry. I would imagine since the Lounge is a bar in itself, it probably won't allow outside wine.

We've gotten direct phone numbers before from them, I would try calling back and getting a different CM.

The direct # for Wilderness Lodge is 407-824-3200. You can ask to be connected to AP once you get an operator.

Found a direct # for Artist Point....407-824-2293.

This was from someone's post a couple of years ago. Always a chance it has changed.

Please let us know what you discover.

None of the In-park restaurants will do this, as you're not allowed to bring alcohol into the parks. Restaurants at the resorts may do this, but they each set their own policies.

Interesting. Every time I make a PS through Disney Dining, I tell them about DS's food allergy, and they always give me the phone number of the restaurant to call the chef at least 7 days prior. So the info is in their system, they just need to know how to access it...

Just an update about the corkage fee...

I was at the Territory Lounge this evening and I asked the bartender about the corkage fee...he says that occasionally, not very often, people do bring in their own bottles of wine and they will open them for a corkage fee...he did not remember what the amount was and I didn't push him to find out but it sounded like one of those things that they would do if you asked...

And since the bartender and I have become buddies, I don't think it will be a problem at all for me to bring my own bottle from my "collection"...

Thanks!

That was a good idea -- to check the Wine Spectator Web site. I found that I had to use Lake Buena Vista as the search location to get any on-site Disney World Restaurants. I have a reservation at the California Grill, but the corkage fee was not listed. The others that I saw ranged from $15 - $25. So the bottom line is as you stated -- I will have to call each restaurant where we have a reservation.

1) The corkage fee is different for different eateries.
2) The price ranges from $15-$35 per bottle of wine.
3) This is whether they open it for you or if you open it yourself.
4) As an example Artist Point charges $25 per bottle.
