Corelle Ware

I'm from the Pfaltzgraff thread too. I bought a set of Corelle once to give my Pfaltzgraff a break. I really didn't like their pattern choices, but I bought one anyway. Somehow I managed to break a bowl. :confused3 It shatters into a million little sharp pieces. I got rid of it after a few years since I hated to pattern. Still happy with my Pfaltzgraff & pattern after 21 yrs although I don't use it every day anymore. It is in my china cabinet on display and I use the serving pieces very often.

We had Corelle and were happy until the day we place a plate on the counter and it shatter. We then noticed that many of the plates had tiny cracks. We then looked it up on line and found that many of the patterns would shatter and we ditched it for Pfaltzgraff. We have a few chips but love the Paltagraff much better. It does take up much more space but we are not strapped for cabinet space.

We have Lenox china for good and we dishwash it, with heated dry off. Not much work at all.

I love Corelle dishware! The thing I like most about it is it that it's light weight. We don't entertain so we don't have a need for fancy stuff. If we have company, we just use what's in the cabinet. I have a few pieces left of what we bought when we married 28 years ago. We use a lot of Texas Ware too. It's as old as the hills, older than my Corelle. Occasionally I find odd pieces of Corelle at the thrift store and I buy them. It doesn't bother me if my dishware does not match.

I love my Corelle. We got a set of Spring BLossom (green flowers--really old pattern) for a wedding present. That was 25 years ago and we still have most of the pieces and use them every day. I have also added to the collection. Its not my favorite pattern. They have so many really pretty ones. But it is nostalgic for me. My MIL also bought us a set of country violet which I really like but I havent added to that set.

That's pretty, MM. :thumbsup2

I've never used Corelle nor ever even thought about it. I probably unconsciously picked up on my mom's attitude--she collected old china and she stuck her nose up at Corelle from the time it first got popular. ;) Not that I stick my nose up at it but I just never even thought about buying Corelle as long as Mom was coming to dinner on a regular basis.

We use Fiesta Ware. I love that I can mix and match colors and it still all goes together. My other consideration was that the company has been around forever and since there is no pattern, I don't have to worry about my pattern being discontinued. I had that issue with other sets of dishes I've used.

I love Corelle. Got my first set (green flowers which I still have) back in 1973when I got married. I have replaced that set several times over with 3 other Corelle sets over the years. They are very light weight and dont chip like other dishes.

Just to change things up, I picked up some Corelle Pink Trio at the outlet store. It is pretty lightweight but I like the classiness of my Pfaltzgraff.

I got my first set of corelle ware about 20 years ago and still use it everyday. I have the Enhancement pattern. http://corelle.com/index.asp?pageId=53&pid=44

It matches my good china pattern I got 31 years ago when we got married but never use.

We don't own a dishwasher and have limited cabinet space so it perfect for us.

I was going to replace the pattern a few years ago and shopped for several months and never found a pattern I liked as well as what I have so I kept them. I just bought another whole setting for 8 at a yard sale for $10 for DS to use. I thought it would be a little bit of home!

blossom green. have had it for 33 years. i like it because it is light weight. it will break, though. like previous poster said, it shatters into a million really sharp little pieces.

I have the Corelle Callaway (ivy) pattern. I actually purchased it for my mother many years ago as she loved green so our kitchen was green. I still use the dishes and coffee cups but all of the accessories are in storage as I have redecorated the kitchen since my mother passed. The dishes look brand new, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another pattern from Corelle.

I have Corelle. I have the Casa Flora pattern.

My DH dropped one of the small plates on our floor yesterday. It didn't break....and our floors are stained concrete!

I find Corelle's patterns very trendy and don't feel the patterns stand up to time. Durability long out lasts the pattern. Marketing ploy?

:confused3 Alright this post has me confused. I inherited my grandmothers old Callowaay plates years ago and I can still buy this pattern. The longevity of the patterns is one of the things I love!

I don't think I'd go with anything else regardless I have severe arthritis so the lightness of the dishes is a big deal to me.

I have Portmeirion Twas the night before Christmas as well, so I ony invite people over for fancy dinners at Christmas

That's the same one I have, I love the pattern, but of course they are always coming out with new patterns that make me want to change but I never do.

Love my Corelle! I'm now on my 2nd set of dinnerware. I figured I owed it to myself to get new dishes since I had been using the same ones from my marriage....10 years post divorce.:rotfl:

One hard lesson I did learn. When you see a pattern you like at one store, price check at others. I made the big mistake of finding my pattern at Target, bought two boxes that were servings of 4 each at $74.99 per box. Two weeks later after I had taken them out of the boxes, washed and put them in the cupboards went to Walmart and guess what? Found the same ones for $59.99 per box. Of course Target would not price match so just make sure you shop around for the best price because it will vary.

Love my Corelle! It is all I have and the set we got when we got married 30 years ago still looks as good now as then. Mine has a thin penciled brown floral type pattern around the edges. It goes with everything!

This is my 2nd set of Corelle dishes. I bought this one about 2 yrs. ago and I love it. They aren't heavy, don't take a lot of room in the cabinet and in the dishwasher. :thumbsup2
I like this one and a few others. :thumbsup2

I remember when we bought our first set when I was a kid (at Lechmere Sales - when it was still called that - in Cambridge). Salesmen were demonstrating how it "couldn't break" by dropping pieces on the floor. They even let us try! My father thought Corelle was the best thing since sliced bread, LOL. I've broken a few pieces (and a few have chipped) but overall I've found it very durable.

Add me to the list of another person who loves her Corelle. We got it shortly after we were married because I couldn't stand the China stuff. It has been wonderful with kids and the plates don't show all the scratches like they did before. I had a pattern that was discontinued, but just added more plain ones to my set -- I need more bowls and large plates.

Good point. Online might be a good choice today, too.

I also like getting extra pieces at the Corelle factory outlet stores. You can find different styles and shapes that match your own set, different than what came in the box. I use the large, flat style bowls a lot for things like soups, cereal, sometimes cooking. I also bought some really small bowls that come in handy for salsa, fruit salad and things like that. Platters, serving bowls, other interesting gadgets...love that store. :rotfl:

Now I'm looking forward to getting a new set (if my renovations would ever get under way). Thanks for all of your feedback!

Itis quite durable,, but when it does break, it goes into a zillion pieces!!!!!!!!!
