I just made an ADR at the Coral Reef for lunch. Anyone ate there lately? What did you think? Thanks for any help.

Last time I had lunch there was in 2007. The food was delicious but it took 45 minutes from the time we ordered to having the meal served. That's probably the longest I've had to wait for food to be served at WDW before. It was well worth the wait though.

I eat here almost every vacation (5 WDW vacations in the past 22 months). If you have an early lunch ADR, you might get in/out fairly quickly. The service is slow here, no matter when you go, but if you go early, they aren't so far behind in ADRs as they often get later.

The food is hit/miss. I really enjoy the mahi mahi dish but most of the others have been disappointing. This is the restaurant I think has declined the most with the dining plan as they have removed most of the unique dishes. Still, it's one of the few places to get grilled (other than salmon) fish for lunch so I still go.

We just ate there on Thursday. We had a 12:40 lunch adr and got in right away even with requesting a tank-side table. Our server was very friendly but everything came out slowly. We had 3 adults who all got the strip steak and two were very good, but mine was overcooked. And I didn't bother saying anything because I just didn't want to wait any longer. My daughter had the kids pizza which didn't look very good but she enjoyed it. And the chocolate wave was great.

I always worry about the high mercury content of their food.

Why? Just like any other seafood restaurant. Besides, not everything on the menu is seafood.

The things with high mercury content are large fish and the USDA keeps track of all the stuff.

Ate there twice last month and the food was wonderful. It took us an hour and fifteen minutes from start to finish. That can get hard for us since our 3 year old gets restless after about 30 minutes. Thank goodness for iPhone games! I like the opportunity to chill for a while, though! Would love a salad from there right about now!

We had lunch there in October and it was okay. We really enjoyed the atmosphere and being able to watch the fish while we ate. The food was decent, but not as good as I had hoped it would be. I think it's worth doing at least once just for the ambiance alone.

We had lunch there on our most recent trip. We found the the food to be very good however the service to be very slow. Not the server's fault; he kept coming by to apologize. Just be prepared.

The USDA is not involved in the inspection of seafood. NOAA is responsible for seafood inspection in the U.S. under the control of the U.S. Department of Commerce while the FDA handles seafood processing inspection (to insure safe and sanitary handling). In reality, the inspection of domestically produced and imported seafood is almost nonexistent.

Bass, bluefish, grouper, lobster, mackerel, orange roughy, sea trout and tuna routinely suffer from high mercury content.
