My DH & I want to Coral Reef 3 years ago and were not satisfied w/the food or the service. Has anyone been there recently and how was the food service and if you like what you eat whan did you have? When we went there were plenty of tables open & I guess they were waiting for people w/reservations but the whole time we were there they tables were open and they wouldn't take any walk ins. Maybe not enough staff?

Coral Reef is one of the WDW restaurants that has really declined in the past decade and suffered from the popularity of the dining plan as this place cannot seem to handle the volume of diners that the other restaurants push through and they have removed the great and unique menu items bit by bit.

Ate there last month. We've eaten here about a dozen times now but we go for lunch. Service still less than average. I do like the mahi mahi which keeps us returning as there aren't many fish lunch options elsewhere.

I ate there in October and it was my second favorite meal of the trip (#1 being California Grill). I had the Seasonal Catch with the risotto and the fish was grouper. The service was okay, though I felt like the waitress was just going through the motions rather than serving us.

Will never go back! Terrible wait, terrible service, terrible food and waaaaaayyyyyyy over priced even for Disney.

We've been twice...once for lunch in 2008 and once for an early dinner on 6/4. We loved it both times. We have been lucky I guess and had wonderful servers and we really enjoy the food. We didn't wait more than 5 minutes to be seated. My 5yo DD loves the grilled mahi mahi on the kids menu, and both my girls love the make your own ice cream sundaes. All the adults had seafood and enjoyed every bite...and followed it up with the creme brulee. Yum!

The kids loved the aquarium which had sharks when we were there most recently.

We will definitely go back.

Were there in April 2009 and had a very pleasant experience. Service and food were good. I had the Mahi Mahi, DH had the NY Strip. I know you can have bad experiences anywhere, but I don't think it's fair to say this one is "always" bad. We've got an ADR there for November too...

One of my friends ate at Coral Reef in November - she is a very picky eater and she loved it. It was the best meal of their vacation.

We have an ADR for it in November because my son loves fish so much.

We went in December 2007 and again in June 2009 - both times the service was awful and the food was average.

My daughter had a 4 inch hair literally cooked into the cheese of her pizza! :sad2:

I should have also said, although we do not care for it, my in-laws go every visit and they love it. It is one of their favourites.

It was so-so for me.
The service was fine, but the food was hit and miss.
The Shrimp with saffron rice appetizer was REALLY good.
But the Shrimp Ceasar salad was disgusting. The dressing looked like yellow mayo and tasted like it too. The shrimp were overcooked and the lettuce was kind of borderline.
The Tilapia dish was decent but nothing too memorable.

I would go back, but not for a few trips. There are too many other places I want to try first and old favorites to visit.
