Coral reef

We went to the coral reef in '02 and had a less than grand experience. We were seated with another couple at a table for 4 since we were both parties of 2 I sat next to her hubby on one side accross form mine while she sat by my hubby. We were on the level up from the glass not by the tank. Then our server was AWFUL! However my kids and ourselves are HUGE aquarium fans and we would like the kids to have the experience of watching the fish during our meal. So we are considering booking for lunch on our stay. Can you request a seating down on the tank level or is it luck of the draw when you go in? And will my children eat anything there?

When you get there you can request to sit near the tank. You may have to wait longer- and they will tell you way longer than it usually is..

I've never dined there before. The menu just looks so limiting. I don't think I would have liked sitting next to someone else. I expect to at Biergarten, was it a table like that or was it meant to be a private table?

I find it very odd for them to have seated you with another party. Was the restaurant extremely crowded? Even then that surprises me. We ate there in May of '04 and did not experience this sort of atmosphere. We were sat separately as were all the other guest. Maybe this was a practice they used to do and have since abolished that policy. I would give it another try, we love the restaurant and are going back for our next trip. As OP have said you can request a table side seat, but are not guaranteed, you may mention you are willing to wait if that would help them. Enjoy and have a magical trip

On our Honeymoon @ MNSSHP last October, we really just got lucky as the dwarfs were parading around we just followed them until they stopped and we were able to get a photo with them!!

OMG, I so totally agree that is the BEST picture ever. You are definately lucky to get a picture with all the dwarfs and Snow White. VERY VERY COOL!

We took our 2 year old to Coral Reef with our Candlelight Processional package. We had an amazing meal and they were quite accomodating with our son. I want to say he had mararoni, I think they asked if we wanted cheese, tomato sauce or just butter. He also had the make your own sundae ( which sounds like it would be a disaster but it was the perfect proportions of stuff so the mess was limited and he LOVED it) We sat on the 2nd level (we didn't have time to wait for a lower table) and he still loved it.

We have enjoyed Coral Reef both times we have eaten there (January of 05 and January of 06). It is pricey but like all WDW eateries you are paying for the atmosphere. We haven't sat next to the tank but still had a great view. In fact, when we walked up to the tank at the end of our first meal (restaurant was nearly empty at this point) I thought our view was better up higher. We could see more. Menu wise, it is not the biggest selection in the world, I was expecting more variety but they had things we all liked and my kids enjoyed their kids meals. They also have wonderful desserts. Our waitress told us last time they were the only restaurant besides the ones in France that had their own pastry chef. I don't know if she was just being a good saleswoman but the desserts were very good. I say give it a try, and budget accordingly.

P.S. Both times I had the lobster bisque and chicken caesar salad. That soup was to die for but oh so rich!
