Coral Reef vs. Sharks Underwater Grill at Sea World

Has anyone been to the underwater grill at Sea World? It sounds like the same concept so I'm just wondering if it's as nice at the Coral Reef. I know my kids would love this type of restaraunt. There are so many great places to eat at WDW so I'm thinking about trying the underwater grill at sea world (we will be there before we check in at WDW) and saving our WDW dinners for some of the other great places.

I was at the Sharks grill last summer. We really enjoyed it there, but there was a pretty long wait. The food was pretty fancy (to us) and relatively inexpensive. We had great seats at a table on a platform facing the shark tank. (I've never been to Coral Reef, so I can't compare). There are 2 rows of tables, one right next to the tank and then booths up on the platform that face the tank. It's very dimly lit (but nicely so), and the shark tank was pretty neat.

We ate there a few years ago and then at Coral Reef earlier this year. I felt they were comparable. My husband and I were just talking today about making reservations for our trip in Sept. as I think we are going to go to Sea World. When we went to the Sharks grill a few years ago we got a reservation for noon ( I think this is when they open) and it was great we got to sit right next to the tank. It was also quite a bit cheaper at lunch than dinner.

Did you call the restaraunt directly to get reservations? I just called the 1-800 number for the park and the guy said they don't take reservations. I may call back because he didn't seem to have any idea what was going on. I had questions about the tickets I bought and he was clueless. And to think I had to wait on hold for 10 minutes to talk to him!

We ate at Shark's Reef in Sea World about 2 weeks ago. The menu has changed slightly since last year. One DD had the crab cakes which were the same as last year yet seemed to be less flavorful. Other DD had the scallops which were tasty. I had the peanut crusted grouper and found it lacking. I haven't been over to Coral Reef this year because we seldom plan ahead to make reservations and they claim they no longer take walk in, so I can't comment on the food. I prefer the ambiance of Coral Reef but that is just my personal opinion.

I should have added, Shark Reef no longer takes reservations.

Thanks for the tip. That saves me another 10 minutes of being on hold ;)

Oh thanks for letting us know about the reservation change. When we went they were taking them but that was 3 years ago. How were the prices?

I think Shark Reef is a bit more costly than Coral Reef at lunch. The main dishes we ordered ranged in price from $23-$28 each I beleive. Remember that was for lunch. They do not have a seperate dinner menu. Don't get me wrong, it was good but I didn't think it was as good as last summer.
