Okay, so it looks like we'll be heading to Epcot on our first day after arrival. I'm thinking that we should take it relatively slow that day, and confining ourselves to Future World at Epcot seems like a good way to keep me from running back and forth across a park the way I usually do. ;)

Fortunately or unfortunately, this leaves me with a dinner issue. Should we go to the Coral Reef or Le Cellier for dinner that night? I've been to Le Cellier, but not to the Coral Reef, and Kevin Klose's review (along with other reviews I've read over the years) has me nervous.

If we choose the Coral Reef, we'll definitely make it to Le Cellier another night. The same thing is probably true of the Coral Reef unless I continue to hear bad things.

Which to choose?

We LOVE Coral Reef (DD10 & I) and it's a must-do for each trip. Le Cellier is our "other favorite" and also a must-do (the only 2 "must-do's" we have actually). If you like seafood, I say try Coral Reef. Kevin's review had almost scared me into cancelling (along with other bad reviews I'd read) back in '06 and I'm glad we didn't cancel. It was the best meal we had that trip.

I read somewhere on the DIS that Le Cellier's chef has now moved to Coral Reef. If that's indeed true, I'd bet CR will start getting more positive reviews in the near future.

If you have never been before I would try the Coral reef.. you might like it ..But if you have been in the past when It was quite, relaxed and a enjoyable meal, I wouldn't go now ,,, gl

Just to let you know, the chef from Le Cellier went to Jiko, not Coral Reef... that explains why Jiko is getting rave reviews lately!

I have an ADR for Coral Reef (my first time there) in September, and I'm a little worried, too. Kevin does seem to be a little overly picky, that helps ease my mind a bit (I'm easy to please :) )

A bit of advice from my perspective - Coral Reef is much better at dinner. There's not much seafood on the menu at lunch (a ruben at a seafood joint. Really?). At least at dinner you can get crab legs which are quite good.

Just wanted to say that we did both (Le Cellier for early lunch and Coral Reef for dinner). I think Le Cellier was better, although it was very close. Dh and oldest ds think Coral Reef was better. Gosh, I can't imagine having to choose between the two, as they're both really good!

eta I should've read your post a little more thoroughly. Since you said you could do Le Cellier another evening, I'd go ahead and make a ressie for Coral Reef. My family found it exceptional, despite some of the poor reviews it's gotten ...

We used to make an ADR for LeCellier every trip, then it seemed like they added more tables, the noise level went up, service went down although food was still good. Our last experience here was not a good one- service issues and my family refuses to return. We called Disney dining to try and change the dinner ADR we had for LC and Coral Reef had an opening. Luckly I knew they offered more than seafood so we took it. We are so glad we did!
We have had dinner and lunch and CR and both were good, service good both times. Dinner was more relaxing.
Our whole family enjoyed their meals here and none of us eat seafood! The fish/divers/turtles and such in the aquarium entertained us, kept the kids happy for the slower eating adults. 3 of us ordered steak and it was done just right and very tasty.

You will probably be happy with either choice, but why not give Coral Reef a try-

Bev

We have done both. Loved Le Cellier and are making a point to go back. Thought Coral Reef was sub-par for the price range and atmosphere. We won't be going back until we hear something there has changed.

I would also add that we were right up at the tank, which was awesome for a view. But boy was it NOISY. There were kids running all over the place when we were there, and it was really noisy all over. Not pleasant. I am sure it varies from night to night, but that was another strike against it for us.
