OK..so after some number crunching we opted for DP as I think we will definitely get our $$ worth no matter how we allocate the TS credits, but here is my question...What are the limitations for Coral Reef when using DP? Last year we chose to use 2 of our TS credits at Cali Grill and were disappointed that some of our dinner choices were outside of the DP options. We have the following ADR and will switch around and pay OOP for Coral Reef if our meal choices will be very limited when using DP (hope that all makes sense!! :rotfl:)

11/23 Sci Fi (dinner)-pay OOP
11/24 CRT (lunch)-paid OOP
11/25 Liberty Tree (lunch)-using 1 TS
11/26 Coral Reef (lunch)-using 2TS
11/27 Chef Mickey (breakfast)-using 1 TS

I also thought if Coral Reef menu would be limited on DP that we could pay OOP for that and use TS on CRT, Liberty Tree and Sci Fi. What are your expert thoughts, DISers? Thanks in advance!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Please educate me. We are going with the Deluxe Dining Plan. Are you saying that we are going to be limited on what we can order off the menus at the different restaurants?

I'm seeing a lot of things I like on Coral Reef's menu. What items will I not be able to order?

Thanks

The basic DDP TS gives you one entree, one non-alcoholic beverage, and one dessert. There are some beverage limitations (regular coffee is on the plan but the Kona press pot is not; some places include milkshakes as a drink and some do not). There are NO entrees that are "off limits" on the DDP. All desserts are also covered under the plan.

DxDP includes an appetizer. DDP does not, except for kids meals and kids are limited to special kids appetizers.

Some restaurants are "Signatures" and require 2 credits for a single meal. If you are on the DDP, even though you are paying 2 credits at a Signature you still don't get an appetizer. People on the DxDP are also paying 2 credits for a meal at a Signature.

Cali Grill is a Signature restaurant. Sushi is an appetizer and is not covered under the DDP. Coral Reef is NOT a Signature. A meal costs 1 credit, not 2.

I'm a little confused...you've listed Coral Reef as using 2TS. This is NOT a signature restaurant and only requires 1 TS credit. How many nights are you staying?

Thanks for the help!! ...I don't know how I got so screwed up with my TS credits...I knew Coral Reef was only ONE! ;) I guess I didn't remember that the sushi (what we wanted at Cali Grill) was an app so I think that was the start of my brain meltdown! :lmao: Sometimes TOO much planning causes a bit of confusion in my poor, tired mind! :upsidedow

I agree, Coral Reef is a 1TS location for both meals.....I've never been restricted at other locations when using my credits. I've eaten at Narcossees several times using the DDP and you can even get the lobster with your credits there. Some of the restrictions I've seen are the appetizers for 2 must be orders by 2 people on the DDP, plus the kitchen sink at B&C is not an allowed desert for 1.

OP: assuming you are staying 4 nights so you have 4 TS credits per person, I think you should definitely use them for Sci-Fi, LTT, Coral Reef, and CM; pay oop for CRT. CRT is expensive but unless you are only selecting the very cheapest menu items at the other restaurants, it is not as expensive as 2 of those other meals combined (especially since at all the others you have to add in beverage + dessert + tip; those are all included in the CRT price).
