I will be a solo traveler the first week of December and am thinking of eating at the coral reef. What do yall think of the place, and will I be ok as a single person.
Coral Reef is a beautiful restaurant. I personally don't like seafood, but their steak is very good and they have a great pineapple upside down cake for dessert.
I ate there in September 2006 and February 2007, and plan to eat there again this Sept! I think it will be fine if you are eating alone- you won't be bored because you can watch the sealife in the tank.
I went there with my family back in January for our first dinner of the week. After all the iffy reviews I saw on this board, I went in with low expectations. While the meal didn't blow my mind, it was really good. I had their signature blackened catfish. Yes, I still remember what I ate that entire trip! It was quite good, but the portions are huge. I can't see any issues with your going alone other than the fact that the portions were so large, it would be nice to have someone else along to help you finish it! There were tables and booths, so I can't see why they wouldn't put you at a small table.
Haven't eaten there yet-in August we will! I had to call the manager regarding something else and asked about the pineapple upside-down cake. They no longer serve it. The manager did say it may be back in the fall! I was sooo looking forward to that!
You'll LOVE Coral Reef as a solo! I've eaten twice there as a solo, and already booked it for my solo trip in December. I've always asked politely at check-in for a table with an especially good view of the fish-"Since I don't have a dining companion to converse with" and they've always given me a tank-side table. The servers have always been so nice to me. I think you'll have a great time there.
