Coral Reef Restaurant!

ABSOLUTLY!!!! I say yes. We've eaten there on many occations but I have to say i was completly impressed on our last trip. June 12 - 26, 2006. I was on a special diet so i was worried about what to eat at the coral reef. And I'm allergic to fish. I only booked it cause it's a great place, the atmosphere is one of the best in Epcot, and my husband and son love fish. My husband loves the grilled Mahi Mahi, ceasar salad, and cheesecake. My son loves the pizza. I have no idea why. And I was on a special diet. So they sent the chef himself out to my table to help me make my own entree. How cool is that. ANd we came up with a grilled chicken sandwhich on wheat toast. And it was the best sandwhich i've ever had. I say BOOK IT!!!! You will not be sorry.

We liked it a lot in August. Good food, service and nice atmosphere.

Well I thought it was okay....I probably wouldn't do it again, but it is worth doing once :) My steak was too done and for some reason it was very loud in there, I had to keep asking my server to repeat himself. The noise didn't really bother me, I"m quite used to it working with children all day, but it was just a little annoying have to ask someone to keep repeating themselves. I don't know if we just got a loud crowd in there, or if the sounds were just bounces off everything :rotfl: We sat probably the furthest you could be from the tanks, but they are very large and you could still see them, but it was hard to actually tell what some of it was.

Definately worth it.....we ate there for the first time in May, and it's a must do on every trip for us now!!! It's our second fave next to LeCellier!!!

I have to agree with everyone else. We ate dinner here in June and we all loved it. My 3 year old and 7 year old were fascinated with all the fish, turtles and sharks swimming by. We had to remind them to eat. We all enjoyed our meals as well. Service was very prompt, friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the menu and the DDP. My DD's were allowed to order an appetizer off the adult menu since none were offered on the child's menu. You HAVE to try the creamy lobster soup. It is to delicious. My DD's liked it so much that we ordered them a bowl to share since Mommy wasn't too keen on sharing it!! :rotfl: Hope you enjoy it!!

We enjoyed it last month. After reading some of the bad reviews
I was a little hestitate.
I'm sure glad we tried it!, would definetly go back again :thumbsup2

We liked it. The food and service were great. Atomosphere is wonderful. We were seated right next to the tank.

We're giving it another try in a couple of weeks, but when we ate there this past Dec there were alot of VERY loud kids running up and down the stairs, running into people, and hovering over the people that were sitting next to the tank. Other than the chocolate wave :cloud9: I had, I'm afraid I don't really remember what we ordered. Oh yeah, my mom had somekind of cheesecake that she said was very good.

I am so glad to hear everyone's good reviews, especially those who don't like fish!! I have wanted to eat here ever since I saw the Full House episode where they eat there, but My DH hats fish, so we always skip it. This time, I said...we are just eating there!! So it is good to hear!! :sunny:

We enjoyed it, despite being put at the absolute furthest table from the tanks possible. I thought the menu offered a nice selection, and we thoroughly enjoyed everything we tried. (The Ceasar Salad with Scallops was out of this world! You also need to try the Chocolate Wave.)

My only issue with this restaurant is that it really needs to be refurbished. The rest of The Living Seas is undergoing major renovations. I hope they use the opportunity to also spruce up Coral Reef. I'm not talking about any changes to the tanks. Just replace the carpets and update the fixtures. It's getting very dated -- the reception and waiting areas particularly.

We enjoyed it last Fall, and have ADRs for our next 2 trips.

Just a note - the menu has recently changed again. There are now kid's appetizers listed too.

Paintnolish - I love your photo! I can only hope that this will be my 2 little ones in a couple of months :Pinkbounc

Glad to hear the great reviews! Just made ADR's today for our December trip and we were really excited about getting this ressie! We booked it mainly for the entertainment for the kids!

Question: We have a large party (9) and they booked us for Coral Reef with 2 tables stating that's all that we could get... will the tables be close to one another?

When my family went we had to wait forever, past our adr time.
The ceaser salad was a head of romane lettus whole (bottom and all) with some dressing squirted on it. The dressing held the shape of the squeez bottle it came from, and it tasted like salt and too much olive oil.
My steak was ok, but Le Cellier was better.
I had the Crem' brule for dessert. It was still cold and jello-ish not creamy and warm like Le Cellier the night before.

I liked the view, but as other posters have said it was way too loud. I had a headache and other issues... by the time i left.

I won't be going again. :sad2:

We ate there last week(for the first time) and is was fabulous! I had Mahi-Mahi--and I'm not a big fish eater, but it was so tender and didn't have a fish taste at all. DH had a steak that was so thick and juicyit made your mouth water. One of the best meals I've ever had!

Angel, I heard that too. Do you know if the new menu is posted anywhere? Not on Deb's pages yet. Looking forward to ADR this Friday! Thanks.

This is the last Epcot restaurant that I haven't eaten at yet, although Norway has changed quite a bit since the last time we ate there!

We try to eat there every trip but only for lunch - have never had a decent dinner there. Would never order steak there. We always get the catfish or mahi maki and are never disappointed. Over the last 11 years we have sat on every row and cannot claim a bad table - some servers better than others but all the tables, at least for us, have been good seats. We will be there again Oct 5 - it is such a cool and relaxing break from the park.

We were there this week and had great food (Mahi-Mahi) but the worst service of any Disney restaurant ever! I wanted to ask the waiter if we were keeping him from something else or if this wasn't a good time for him or what. He totally acted like we were a huge inconvenience. When he brought our desserts (finally) he literally threw a handful of spoons on the table so loudly that several other tables turned to look. DH had this same server in January and said he was horrible then too. So sad, because it was one of my favorite meals, foodwise.

Thanks for this thread guys! I changed an adr from garden grill-which we have already done. Really looking forward to this meal! Angel

Coral Reef was the best meal we had at WDW. We had a great server too! I had the filet, DH had scallops (can't remember what DD had). Both were great but I heard neither is on the menu anymore. I don't do any seafood and my steak was great.
