Coral Reef Restaurant - Diver/menu - Discontinued for 2009

Yikes, I have an ADR for Aug. 17th. Do you think they will call me to confirm this?

we also have ADR's for August 17th. We just made them on SAturday. What does this mean?

I would call and confirm. I have never dined at Coral Reef but my sister-in-law really wanted to eat there. I figured that it would be easy to get a reservation but after trying three particular days during our trip the reservationist put us on hold. After making a few calls she said that the restaurant was on a construction block for the duration of our trip except on Sunday August 19th. Disney is very unpredictable and this information could probably change at any time but it is correct as of yesterday.

Oh no, I have an ADR for the 17th and I had a diver booked with personalised menus for our wedding. No one has told me this:sad1:

Here is the email I just received from Debbi:

Hi Summer,

We are not scheduled to be closed at all this summer. They may have us confused with another location.

The only restaurant in Epcot that is closed right now for refurbishment is Japan.

I will contact you if I hear something.

Thanks

Just personally spoke to the manager, and she also told me a definite NO-we will not be closed that week! Yeah-we are eating there that week also!

Deb is so awesome. Call DD or guest services. Ask for CR diectly and listen to the options. Option 3 is contact a manager. Leave a massage and she gets right back to you. E-mail the pictures to her and she handles the rest! We were there in May and were not celebrating anything but DD5 first trip to WDW. She had been to DL twice and announced she was now big enough for the World! Deb made a great menu that had our pics and clip art with Ariel, King Triton and flounder. The top of the menu said "Ariel and her friends welcome the #$%@! Family." The diver came right up to our table, on a small board asked if my daughter's name was #$@!@. She said yes. He pulled out the banner that said, "Ariel says Hi!" and he threw some of the sand in the air like confetti. She thought it was so cool!

Just a note, make sure that you confirm just prior to your trip. I heard taht there are times that the staff forgets to follow through so I called before our trip and was told all was set. The CR called my DD's cell phone two days before dinner and confirmed the plans. We got to the restaurant on my DH's birthday and the staff did not know a thing. They did a great job of moving us to the area near the tank and the diver did bring a sign, but the personalized menu did not happen.

We were fine with this and would not have been upset if the mixup was not rectified, but if you have your heart set in this make sure that you double check and I would suggest that someone confirm before you are seated.

That's good news! I was a little nervous especially since we are a party of 11 and I booked at the 180 window. We have several with us who have never been here, so didn't want to miss it. We eat at CR often ourselves. We choose lunch over dinner as we have done both and prefer the lunch seating.

We have an ADR for the 17th as well and it's my son's 17th birthday. I didn't call yet for a diver. What time are your ressie's?

I just called Deb about the diver and personalized menu. She is so pleasant. :goodvibes What a nice personality. :goodvibes She said that this was the 10th call she received today. I told her that it is all over the Disney Board. I made my reservation for the diver, and will be sending her some photos tonight for our personalized menu. This is really cool. DS will really enjoy this magic. :wizard:

Does anyone else know if personalized menus can be done for other restaurants. I would like to do this in march for our first anniversary.

My reservation is at 7.30pm, what about you?

Wow! Ours are at 7:30 also. You'll have to look for us and say Hi! We are a table for 4 - me, DH, DS12 and DSturning17 that day. I would like to have a diver wish him a Happy Birthday but I'm not sure if he would like it.

Make sure you call or email Debbie soon. I think they only do so many each day.

Hello!

We are going to the Coral Reef this fall. It is all of our 1st trip to WDW. It my DH, DM, DD 16, DD 14, DD 10 and myself! I would love to do the diver and personalized menus. It is the same personalized menu for everyone in the group or can they each be personalized with pictures and messages, (ex. on Jasmine's; "I love you Jasmine, etc. etc. with a few pictures of her), or more of a family message if it's the same for all? Like, "I love you, I'm glad we did this together, etc. etc." with a picture of all of us together on the menu? Any ideas, advice appreciated. I'm glad I found this thread!
