Our family loves aquariums. So the intrigue of eating at the Coral Reef is very appealing to us--but none of us are thrilled with fish. Does the menu have anything that might appeal to us? We have 4 kids ages 2-13. Thanks!:goodvibes

There are a lot of options there besides fish. Actually, I seem to recall they only had a few fish dishes. We always get the steak. It was excellent last time we went. You can see the menus for lunch and dinner at www.allears.net.

We are also a family of mostly non-seafood eaters. We all found options we liked at CR in August. In fact, it was one of the best meals we had in our 11 day trip.

The steak is great. As a non fish eater there is plenty to choose from and also the restaurant would turn my stomach if it smelled like fish which I was worried about but it did not. It is beautiful and the kids loved the fish and the diver in the tank. Sting Rays and Sea Turtles, star fish, schools of fish etc. Try to ask for a window seat, they are tables of 4 and 2 then the fish go right by your head.

I don't do seafood either. We ate at CR in February and LOVED it. I had the chicken served over rice, YUM, DH and both of my parents had the steak and they all loved it. DD had the kids pizza and liked that too. We tried 3 desserts (we were on the DDP)....chocolate wave, the key lime and the creme brule...all were Yummy. Definately try it if you can. We even had a diving group tour while we were there so we got a lot of entertainment from the divers in the tank.

Thanks for all of your replies! Now if we can be lucky enough to get reservations during one of our upcoming trips...:goodvibes

We were there last June and not one of us ordered a fish and or seafood meal.

We really enjoyed it. As a matter of fact our 14 yr old DD requested going back and she HATES fish... but she LOVED the chicken - rosemary I think??

Count us in. My DH LOVES seafood so I chose CR for our 10th Ann diner. Now I do NOT like seafood and steak would be one of my last choices on a menu but I thought the atmosphere would make up for it. Let me tell you that CR is our new FAVORITE rest. to eat at. I did order a steak and it was fabulous! It is the one meal I truely loved during our visit. Our DD (7) had the kids chicken meal and she cleaned her plate. Add in the wonderful surroundings and you have a winner! I do hope you enjoy it!

I'll be the counter-voice here -- I don't think the Coral Reef is a good place to dine if you don't enjoy seafood.

My main reason...all nonseafood dishes are $$$$! My sister HATES seafood and is always miserable when we go...

I would suggest dining somewhere else at Epcot that you will enjoy and spend some time exploring THE SEAS after dinner. You really don't gain much from the dining experience there if you don't dine on the specialites, and there are far too many better dining experiences at Epcot to miss out on just in favor of an aquarium view that you can get in the attraction as well.

Cheers,
Josh

I hate seafood and enjoyed my meal at coral Reef. I had steak.

A word to the wise: Do NOT set your camera down in your chocolate wave dessert. No matter how much you clean your lens, it will never be the same. My shutter STILL won't open without me prying it open with my fingers. :sad2:

Ooo, this one sounds good (and I do not like seafood). I think I'll try it next year.

My nephew(6yo) had the pizza there, ate every bite too! We grown ups had fish entrees, however there are steak, pork chope, chicken and even a vegetarian risotto dish on the menu. Also some that don't like "fish" do enjoy shrimp, there is a shrimp pasta dish too.

I don't do fish, but I like shrimp.

I had a pasta and shrimp dish that was really good and my daughter had spaghetti. Service was great at the Coral Reef and my DD loved looking for fish in the tank and crossing them off the list they give you.

The steak seems to be good, I have read lots of dining reviews that give the steak the thumbs up.

We stayed clear of CR for several trips because it seemed like the "fish place" - Red Lobster (can't even stand the smell of that place"....

But I was drawn in by the review of the Chocolate Wave :lovestruc and I gotta tell you :worship: :worship: :worship: :worship: CR!!!!

Great place for picky eaters, fish eaters, and non-fish eaters alike ;)

Can't wait for our next trip!!! One of my faves in WDW :goodvibes

Actually, for picky eaters it is one of the very few places in Epcot to eat that I actually like and I hate eating fish ;)

We are not seafood eaters either. We really never considered coral reef for that reason. Then my DH and I took a Epcot tour that included The living Seas area and a look inside the Coral Reef resturant. Once we saw the resturant we wanted to eat there just for the atmosphere! So we checked out the menue and felt there were enough choices, steak, chicken, pork chops that we could easily find something we would enjoy. And enjoy we did, we have been a couple more times since, including for our aniversary.
