It has been quite a number of years since I have been here. The meal was fine then as was the service. The view was wonderful and quite different and would be worth going just for that.

That said, i have read a few more recent reviews that were good. You should do a search in this forum. I do know Uncleromulus a mod here had a fairly recent review that was positive. Good luck.

We were there in this past May. We went for lunch (cheaper) I had some kind of skewered meat for starters and the catfish for lunch. Ds had the pizza off kids menu I thought the food and service to be wonderful. I plan on going back again.

HERSEY - thank you for the words of encoragement.
We are going to EPCOT later in the afternoon - after we go an early entry MK and late breakfast at CP. I am hoping for a nice day to use the pool and grab a snack before we go to EPCOT.

So it will be dinner with the :fish: for us at Coral Reef.

I added up some entree's and $5 for drinks, plus $16 for 2 desserts - and with the DDE card seems to come out to about $110 for the meal. We have 1 child meal eater (maybe 2 child meal eaters, depending on the moods).
I assume Coral Reef will let a 12 year old order off the child menu if they do not find an adult entree appealing.

Thanks again ! :boat:

I really enjoyed the mahi mahi (listed as swordfish on your menu) with israeli couscous and soy glaze in November. The fish was very fresh and perfectly cooked.

We ate there for the first time in Oct. on the dining plan. 3 of us had the filet mignon - all enjoyed it. I had tilapia, and it was very good. The beef skewer appetizer was a big hit. We plan to go back on our next trip.

Be sure to try the Chocolate Wave for dessert. :)

To be sure, CR is considered by many to be one restaurant to which they'd never return. Others consider it a good dining experience. Count me in the latter group, though on any given night, any restaurant can be vexing. I had the salad with the key lime dressing and truly enjoyed it, as did my wife with the bleu cheese dressing. She had the mahi-mahi, and I had the blackened catfish--both meals were succulent, delicious, and served hot. Our DD4 had the kid's pasta, but couldn't decide which sauce she liked, finally deciding on the alfredo reluctantly. When our server returned with the food a short time later, she brought a small bowl of marinari sauce and a small bowl of alfredo sauce on the side--that way our daughter could decide on her own. Now, that's good service, as was the rest of the evening. As for dessert, the chocolate wave is one of the better treats of any WDW restaurant. For kickers, we ordered a "blue" drink for our daughter, and she loved it. Basically, order any kid's drink and for an extra $5 they toss in a lighted ice cube which you can take home as a souvenir.

The other main complaint against CR is the cost, and though the meals certainly aren't cheap, they ARE in line with most any good seafood restaurant in any medium to large metropolitan area. We didn't find the costs out of line at all, nor did we have a complaint about portion sizes. Our portions were nice-sized, and given that we had a salad and ate our veggies as our parents always told us to do ;) , we had plenty to eat.

So, don't let the naysayers turn you off--make up your own mind. Hopefully, you'll go and have a great experience. If not, then you can join the anthology of voices expressing their opinions about this and other restaurants. Good eats! :thumbsup2

Last May I ate there and it was really good.
I had the lobster soup for appetizer (it's a lobster bisque and really yummy)

They had a special that day.. a grilled mahi mahi that was awesome!

:)

We had lunch and it was great! Both had fish and it was soooo good!

The trick to Disney is simple...
Don't order steak at the seafood resturants pirate:
Don't get fish at the pizza resturant :stir:
Don't ask for Mexican food at a burger place :scared1:
