I was wondering what the Coral Reef Chicken is like as well as their mashed potatoes. I am incredibly picky and like my food very simple no extra sauces or spices added to anything. I like my potatoes simply potatoes mashed no garlic, etc added. I am trying decide if I want to try Coral Reef on this upcoming trip. If anyone has any pics of the chicken breast and potatoes that would be great! Thanks

I don't have pictures, but I'm a rather picky eater too, and I liked the chicken at the Coral Reef. Now, that being said, it definitely wasn't the best I've ever had, but it was good, and dining beside a sea turtle makes the experience wonderful.
I've noticed most Disney restaurants are willing to comply to your needs/wants within reason, so just keep that in mind. (:

NOTE: The Coral Reef is an interesting respite from normal
dining, as the wall is a huge aquarium. One can see the fish and
the divers tending to the fish and tank. The food, unfortunately
has gone to the "average" zone. For some of the better dishes,
try the Mussels for a appy and the trout for the entree. Other
selections, like the chicken, are run-of-the-mill.

My DD14 had the chicken last time we were there. She liked it, but didn't rave about it. She's a fairly picky eater.

Just ask for the chicken without whatever might come on it. You can have all sauces, etc. left off or served on the side. As for the mashed potatoes, I haven't had them yet (will be in about a month though) but I don't believe they are plain - the horseradish mashed potatoes but I don't know how strong the horseradish taste is. My dd7 has always gotten the kids grilled chicken and likes it - but she's not picky and will try anything atleast once.

You can always ask for sauces and toppings to be left off or to be on the side, but stuff that's added in can be a little more difficult to accomadate. I don't know if Coral Reef will do the mashed potatoes without horseradish, or if they keep some with and some without or how ever they may handle it. I had them in January and the horseradish wasn't strong at all. I wanted to ask for more horseradish to stir in actually.

This is one of our favorite meals. DS and I get it every time we go. We were there in March. The potatoes are just plain mashed and I ask for no sauce on the chicken and it is a grilled chicken breast with the wing still on. You can also get fries if you want. YUM! Plain and simple! The only thing I don't like is the unsalted butter. But that is another discussion!:goodvibes

My teenaged son had the chicken in Feburary 2011. He claimed the dish to be tasty, yet small. He definitely needed to enhance his meal with some bread and a dessert. Non-teenagers would probably deem the dish to be plentiful.

I went to the Coral Reef the year before last and I'm not sure I'd ever go back. the service was poor, the food was mediocre at best, and the restaurant was very dark inside. Plus we were so far back I couldn't even see into the aquarium. My wife and I were quite disappointed. There are so many other amazing places to eat in Epcot.
