Does anyone have any experience with the Coral Reef restaurant and wheelchair seating? I think my boys might like this restaurant because of the aquarium, but I don't think they will pay attention to it unless we are sitting next to it. Do you think we can sit that close with the boys wheelchairs? I ask because I read that there are levels to the seating and I'm not sure about accessibility. Thanks!

i just went to coral reef in december. they sat me at the top level. there are 3 levels. it looked like they had a lift to get wheelchairs up and down to the different levels. it is kind of a tight restaurant too. i wasnt to impressed with the food.

My DH has always wnated to go there

and we have a reservation for our next trip -- April 3rd
which just happens to be my birthday!

While the front of the aquarium is wheelchair accessible, there's no guarantee that you'll be seated there. Most of the tables are too close together to get a wheelchair between them, so you'd probably need an end table, which could end up being a LONG wait.

Thanks for letting me know. :) We'll have to think about this. I am also thinking of Chefs de France. My youngest has feeding issues and they have some things I think he could have.

Can you tell me more about what you didn't like about the food? Thanks!:)

Frankly Chefs de France is FAR better than the Coral Reef. In fact I think it's one of the better restaurants at WDW. If your kids are easily over-stimulated, as to be seated in the side room, much quieter. I'm pretty sure it's accessible. (the side room, not the entire place)

Thanks! The food choices look good here. I was only looking at Coral Reef because the boys like looking at aquariums. But they need to be close up. We have been disappointed too many times because of accessibility issues when we try to go places even when I try to plan in advance. We went in a side entrance at Liberty Tree Tavern and that worked fine.

We have eaten at Coral Reef twice and will continue to back. Both times we have also been able to get a table right next to the tank. We were last there in Aug 06 and unless they have changed things, they close for a brief period of time between lunch and dinner. My suggestion would be to make an ADR for one of the earliest seatings available when they reopen for dinner as the restaurant would've been completely emptied between the two. And then upon arrival to WDW, get the restaurant's direct # from your hotel and call Coral Reef directly prior to your ADR date and explain the circumstances (not demand, but politely ask) about how special this would be for your children. Chances are the CM will be understanding and you'll receive a sprinkling of pixie dust. Good Luck and enjoy. pixiedust:

We have been there twice and both times they acted like it would be major problem to get the WC near the aquarium. We really were not impressed there & went back for the aquarium.

i am more of a shrip eater than trying mahi mahi or some fish i have never tasted before. they had shrimp coctail for appatizer(sp) but the did not have a shrimp entree. so i had the crab suflay(sp) it was an appatizer but i had it for an entree i wasnt sure how many shirmp came on the appatizer shrimp coctail and i knew 4 shrip wouldnt fill me up. thats why i picked the suflay. it was okay but it kinda started to taste too fishy. their chocolate dessert was delish though.

If you want to eat in Future World, the Garden Grill's upper level is wheelchair accessible. We went recently and had a good meal and great character interaction. While it doesn't overlook the aquarium, it does slowly rotate around the Living with the Land ride.
