We are on the ddp (FD!) and have an adr for coral reef. These are the two items I'm trying to decide between. I heard the steak is great, what do you think? And, I haven't heard anything about the lobster salad. Anyone had it? Lots of lobster in it?

Grilled New York Strip Steak - served with potatoes au gratin and broccolini $27.99

Lobster Salad - on a toasted baguette with a cup of lobster soup and mixed greens $20.99

They both sound yummy, and I'll probably get the steak, I love steak, but, that's my choice at lots of the restaurants, maybe I should get something different? I'm sure DD18 will get the steak, it's her favorite!

my DH always gets the new york strip there and he loves it - no complaints out of him - i've never had the lobster salad, but have seen photos of it - looks like there's plenty of lobster in it, but the lobster bisque they give you seems to be a tiny little cup worth

Had the lobster salad during our trip two weeks ago, and I have to say I was disappointed and would not recommend it. Tasted like typical seafood salad to me. The baguette was served to the side, kinda tasteless and quite chewy. The lobster bisque was nice, thick and creamy - what little bit you got. It was more like a sampling than a cup.
DH got the grilled mahi mahi and RAVED about it! It was delicious - at least the tiny bite he was willing to share!! :lmao:

I had something like Salmon ratatouille, and it was AWESOME.
I don't know if it's on their regular menu or if it was a daily special or something. I had it in May.

I second the Mahi Mahi! It was soooooo good. Their steak was one of the best of our trip also, so you couldn't go wrong either way. We also had the blackened catfish, which was really good.

I enjoyed the lobster salad. I did not think the portion was that big tho, and that lobster bisque was even smaller (although it is absolutely awsome). I liked to dip the bread into it and it stretched it out a bit more, and helped to fill me up. If you are not a huge eater this is a good pick.

I gotta be 100% honest here.

Anyone who goes to a seafood restaurant and orders steak is just plain screwy! :lmao: It's like going to Le Cellier and ordering chicken. Sure it's good, but aren't you really there for the steak?

I'd recommend the Mahi Mahi as well, paired with the Alsatian Pinot Blanc.

I've had the steak there every time, and I love it! It's always cooked like I want it, except for the one time, it was rare and I wanted medium. But it was the first time I had ever eaten anything rare. There's a first time for everything. I didn't say anything to the waiter about it, I actually liked it. Of course everyone, except my sister cause she helped me eat it, was grossed out.

But I've been to CR 3 times and have ADR's for my next time in Nov. I've never had a bad meal, the food is always great, and never had a bad server.

The Lobster Salad at the Coral Reef is the one and only thing that I have ever sent back at a Disney restaurant!! :sad2: There was not much lobster in it, and was made like a chicken salad where the meat appeared to be ground up. It was loaded with celery, onions and seamed to be more vinegar based with very little mayo. I was so excited when I saw it on the menu, but, my expectations might have been to high; I lived in Maine for 3 years and was spoiled with Lobster rolls and salad. If Maine Lobster Rolls/Salad is what you are expecting, this will not be a good choice!

The Lobster Bisque was outstanding!

We ate there last week and the food was very good. I had the steak and hubby had the Mahi Mahi. One of the best meals of our trip.

We had a very good meal there in August - DS had the Mahi Mahi off the kid's menu along with the Lobster Bisque soup...he wanted to lick his bowl and plate he loved it so much (and he's only 6!). I also loved, loved, loved the Mahi Mahi. DH had the steak and said it was very tasty and would order it again.

DD had the mac and cheese and it was not very good - I think they are trying to make it all "low fat" and it just isn't very good anywhere anymore.

I had the steak and thought it was excellent. One of the best meals all week. We are not big fish eaters and went to this restaurant for the atmosphere and to see the tank, and were pleasantly surprised.

IMO, the steak at Coral Reef was far better than LeCellier. Best I have had so far on property...followed by Rose & Crown and then Le Cellier. I hate seafood and went to Coral Reef for the steak!! (and the atmosphere) Will definitely go back.

We went to Coral Reef last summer. Steak seemed small but I think we had just gotten used to these huge plates of food from the buffets. It was just a small slab of steak with some greens and a little mashed potatoes. I'm not a huge fish eater...I go to Coral Reef for the experience :)

I know, I know! :goodvibes But, I'm not going for the seafood, I'm going cause DD18 said she'd like to go there so figured I'd try it, she doesn't ask to go too many places, I pretty much make all the decisions cause she doesn't want to be bothered and trusts me. Okay. :confused3 Okay, well, that works for me, I like to be on the planning side! Anyway, she really doesn't eat fish at all except for fried shrimp or calamari, anyway. She's a steak lover so I'm sure she, as well as I, will probably have that. But no lobster salad, doesn't sound so great but the lobster bisque sounds great! But, mainly we are going for the atmosphere and big fish tank. :) Any thoughts on where to request a seat if we are able to do that?

CR had the best NY strip of our trip last year. Even better than Le Cellier's strip. It was a large steak with scalloped potatoes on the side with a little broccolini; you will love it.

We had the steak a couple of weeks ago at CR. It was only fair. Rather tough.

If you want to try something different, the grilled mahi mahi is AWESOME!!!!!! I had to stop myself from licking my plate afterwards!!!!

DH had the pork with walnut sauce and loved it too!
