Copthorne v Hilton

I just cannot make up my mind what to do with regard to the hotel at gatwick. We booked the copthorne ages ago [3 adults, 1 child+15 days parking] as it was a lot cheaper but since then the hilton has dropped the price so only £80 difference now. But as we are doing twilight check in and will be arriving later than anticipated the hilton would be better and when you add up the cost of taxis etc the difference is only £50, I cannot make up my mind.

Has anyone stayed at the copthorne, what is it like?

Never stayed at the Copthorne, but for £50 extra you might as well go for the Hilton. If you join HHonors you can 'double dip' and get VA flying club miles, too. Plus you'll probably save money on dinner if you eat in the terminal.

Yes you are right, should have mentioned that we have had to change the holiday three times and the hotel, I have had enough of changing bookings and paying extra, that was the reason I was in two minds about another £50.
Being sensible we have stayed at the sofitel or Hilton over the last 3/4 trips and being on airport has been really good, especially as my wife is scared of flying walking around the airport the night before and then on the morning just walking to the terminal makes such a difference also when you start adding up taxis to the copthorne and back it seems stupid to think about £50 compared to what we have paid for the holiday.

The only downside at the Hilton is not having access to the car the following day to dump the overnight stuff in but a small price to pay
