At a minimum I would be squawking for a cabin or a 1BR at VWL.
What if you just cease contact with disney right now and don't give them a decision. Sounds like they want to you to cancel the CC reservation instead of them, maybe they move on to the next person if you don't give an answer and in the meantime try to get a cash reservation somewhere just in case
FYI someone posted this same thing on facebook yesterday only their reservation doesn't start until July 22nd.
This is not an emergency room out of inventory but instead an overbooking issue that somehow happened. That person also was offered SSR, tried to push for WL hotel side as it would be open etc etc and was told it's SSR and that's all. I'd be getting a stern note off on this one and talking to a supervisor, although that did the other guest no help, but it is an issue they created and they need to do better in their attempts to resolve it. At a minimum I'd be asking for the SSR 1BR for studio points or probably even to have all points returned and get those nights comped. Truly unacceptable IMO. They also had the inventory issue at VGC and are moving people to the GC hotel side. Oh - and PVB people are being moved to the Poly hotel side during the refurb.
It’s not a preferred room it’s a standard. Disney would not budge on any accommodations. I booked three nights at Coronado out of pocket, water view. Now i need to contact member services to have my points returned to my account and not put in holding. Feeling better, don’t want to think about any of it till after the trip.
My thoughts exactly. I saw that post yesterday, and there were rooms available cash side at WL when I looked into it. That person fudged their story a bit for sympathy, saying they were downgraded to a studio at SSR (when it turned out, they were offered a 1-bedroom preferred and turned it down), but nonetheless, there were better alternatives for that person as there were cash rooms available at every single Deluxe resort, including the resort they originally booked. DVC is moving VGC guests to cash rooms at GC, and they are moving Poly guests to cash rooms at Poly...no reason they couldn't have accommodated that person with a cash room at WL for the one night they were missing. There is also no reason they should be having this issue at what is now 3 resorts. Someone is seriously dropping the ball at this point, and it's getting ridiculous, that they think it's ok to start calling people 2 weeks before their trips to try and resolve their issue.
Recurring theme in all of these posts i've seen is that they are all 1-bedrooms being impacted across 3 different sets of dates in July now (first week of July covering the 4th, this one is the 6th-9th, and that one was the 22nd).
Received a voicemail mail from member services today. I have a trip planned starting Tuesday and ending with 7-6 thru 7-9 at Copper creek one bedroom. After waiting an hour i was told my reservation is not available however they can accommodate me at a one bedroom at saratoga springs also a one bedroom. I was told my options are switch or cancel and they need an answer.
I didn’t have an answer yet as there is so much to consider. Don’t know how i feel right now mostly shock and disappointment. Hope i come to accept my situation in the morning. So much planning, bummed.
My issue with this, is I remember just a few months back when the glitch happened at VGC, and they started moving people to the hotel side, some people didn't answer/return the call. Two people for sure, that I remember seeing posts from (one on the facebook page, and one on this forum I believe), had their entire reservation cancelled 7 days out because they were out of rooms after others grabbed them.
I don't think that will happen in this case, as there are definitely rooms available at other properties at WDW, but thats not a chance I'd be willing to take, especially since they already mentioned cancelling the reservation in the initial voicemail.
I've never had it happen to me, but can Disney actually do a full cancellation without recourse?
It's one thing to say a couple months out we need to change stuff around, another for a week out to say sorry you have no accommodations. There's flights, reservations, etc to deal with.
And certainly even if they provided alternate accommodations as per our contracts. But if they just straight cancelled the reservation due to overbooking, that seems like it would be grounds for a lawsuit no?

My answer would be no I am not canceling and no I am not staying at SSR. SSR is the easy option for their mess up, they need to try harder.
When you book cash reservations via Disney, there is indeed a clause that says this. So, yes it is possible. With DVC, if there is an emergency, and a room...or rooms...get taken out of service...then you have to be moved and in most cases, it may not be the same to what you have booked. I do not believe they are required nor should we expect they have to make compensation for this when that happens.
However, in this case with CCV, these can not be emergencies as guests are not being moved last minute so it certainly sounds like the online system (or the inventory system) allowed for overbookings. IMO, I do think it would be nice...and fair...to offer a guest who is being moved to a different DVC resort with availability some level of compensation as we do pay DVCMC to manage and run the system. Even if it was a token gift card, etc.
I charge extra for that.Maybe you could share a cabin with other people they double booked. j/k
I'm surprised they can't utilize the cash side of WL somehow. But I don't really know what the legal or other ramifications of the situation entail, so I'm sure there's some sort of reason. If a points guest is being moved and a cash guest isn't, that would be a problem. Cash guests should be moved if the problem wasn't with the DVC website booking.
This is some of the biggest horse **** I have read here lately. SSR (and I love SSR) trade for a CCV reservation. What on earth is Disney doing here? Good grief. SSR is not a equal trade out.
