We decided to purchase 125 points. I showed my wife the Rivera videos and pictures and she thought it looked too generic. We are patiently awaiting the paperwork to come in the mail.

Congratulations, you won’t be waiting long for the paperwork, DVC gets it to you within a day or two. You might get a hand cramp from all the signing. You’ll get a DVC backpack and a large folder with everything you need. We like the brochure with all the point charts for all the resorts. My wife wonders why they don’t send one every year. It much easier to look at then using anything online.

Well I stand corrected. I guess it was "unofficially" allowed and only "officially" allowed, for DVC bookings, post refurb from what I just looked up on the boards. So that explains why the Boardwalk DVC rep told me post refurb they allowed it to be 5 in the studios and 1 beds. Though what is more interesting is on DVC's front site they don't explicitly state they allow 5 and only allow 5 to members (shows only during the booking process). Considering there is only a ~40 square foot difference between the 1 beds at CCV and SSR/BRV/BCV/BWV/AKVJambo it seems odd to not allow a 5th person as long as they provide the linens and considering it was always done at some "unofficial" level for those 1 beds it makes less sense now. It's also likely not a fire code issue either since they shove 6 people in a room about 120 square feet smaller at WL (deluxe rooms and what were mapped to the alternate studios at CCV).

It was officially allowed for VWL, BCV and BWV 1BR's and 2BR's for years before the refurbs. Also allowed for SSR and I believe for OKW before it received the sleeper chairs in it's refurb years ago. It was not and still is not allowed for cash reservations if the unit does not have the sleeping space for the person. Nothing changed for the larger villas after the refurb - still officially allowed to book that extra person.

Actually, I think VB has the sleeper chair now. Last time we were there, we booked a 2BR, but arrived to find a 1BR would have been enough since the refurb.

While doing the math on how many more points are needed to be purchased for the guaranteed week means those points are more expensive, that's not exactly true. We just paid our deposit last night for CCV - bought a guaranteed week for the first week of December. It will cost us 118 points for a week, instead of 107, for that week, and we had to buy the full 118 now. That actually works to an additional $19.32 per point that it costs for that week. However, if we opt out of the week, we still have all 118 to use elsewhere, so for years that we're not using it for that guaranteed week, we paid nothing extra for those points - we just merely had to buy that minimum # of points.
