Does anyone know what the cost of points will be for Copper Creek? Our home is VWL and wondering if there is any benefit for us to buy in.

I'm kinda surprised no one has posted about purchasing an add on yet. Unless I missed it. Still curious which UY can buy points for 2017.

None...selling for double what the points 50 feet away cost...officially jumping the shark
Remember, Boulder Ridge Villas expires in January 2042, less than 25 years from now.

Copper Creek doesn't expire until January 2068, more than 50 years from now.

The benefits are:

1. 11 month booking at the new villas, which are in the Lodge proper.

2. 2068 expiration.

The downsides are:
Cost per point and insane dues.

well, my points expire in 2054 and I spent like $75 on them...and I've been using them for 10 years...

Just like the original wilderness lodge has been using their $70 points for 15.

Are you saying that a new expiration date makes a 200% markup in ten years worth buying?

People always want more, the biggest, the longest. In reality how many years will anyone vacation at Disney, 10 years, 20, years, 30? That is a long time and interests change, families change, finances change, we get older. Who will own Disney in 10 years, who will be running the place, will we get feed up with the Disney changes, politics, business direction, quality or lack there of. When we bought our contracts we planned for them to worth zero when we sell. We don't expect to keep any full term.

Prior to iger...Disneys core philosophy was not to drive their core clientele away...

They have gone "rudder to port" on that...in DVC as notably as anywhere.

So no real benefit then? As the ones you listed are just standard DVC things?
Home resort is always a benefit if you want home resort. Just ask the average Boardwalk owner booking for F&W the value of that.

At Copper Creek, if you want a December booking, you will need home resort. Guaranteed.

And, for Lodgies, the 2068 expiry vs. the 2042 may very well be a selling point.

Only up to the point where the cost discrepancies outweigh those things...

Many are already there...I'm "real" close...the rest will follow soon enough

There may be no perceived value in buying Copper Creek for you, but that doesn't mean that others won't find some perceived value. Remember, there are many people who find no perceived value whatsoever in owning DVC and that buying points at even $75 is considered a total waste of money.

Everyone has their own set of things they value. Others may feel the 2068 expiration date is worth the price, especially if they want to use the cabins or the Copper Creek grand villas during peak DVC visitation times.

2042 vs 2068 expiration - I don't think I'd overly worry about that too much. Yes the OKW extension was somewhat of a debacle, but Jim Lewis so..... Also I highly doubt DVC will want all that inventory flooding to them in 2042...

Respectfully...the "to each his own" argument is why we have experienced a 100% increase in all WDW prices in ten years...that isn't inflation.

I've been around for a few years now...and the main change in the customer (manifesting here)...is the last 7-10 years or so they have not held Disney accountable for any pricing decisions and accept "free market" for everything.

It's reducing the quality across the board at a rapid rate.

Why does copper creek exist In the first place? Well...If the wilderness lodge occupancy fell to 50% - the prevelant theory - then they overpriced The market and now DVC is gonna bail them out. Mistakes without consequences. That isn't "supply and demand".

Demand more.
