DCL says not to book flights before 1:00 for the Northern Europe cruise out of Copenhagen. Is this valid? Can we swing an 11am.flight? We are also ABD if that info helps. Thoughts???

We did a DCL cruise in/out of Copenhagen this past August. Our Delta flight was at 1:30PM (originally scheduled to be 3:30PM). I don't think I'd try to make a flight 2 hrs before Disney's recommended time, maybe an hour before. The port is about 40 minutes from the airport. I think the express walkoff was around 8:15AM for our cruise--we were still heading into port when we had breakfast at 7AM. Our luggage tag characters were called around 9AM, we did Disney transport and were at the airport by 9:45AM. We walked past the long line of people waiting for taxis. Once at the airport we did the airline checkin at the kiosks, then had to wait until 10:30AM for Delta to open up so we could check our bags--very long line there...maybe 30-45 minute wait. Then upstairs--scan your airline tix, then go though security--maybe a 20 minute wait. Now you're in the shopping/food area of the airport. Follow signs to where your gates are...and go wait in line for passport control--another 15-30 minutes (we made the mistake of getting some food and eating it there and the passport line doubled during our 15 minute food break). Walk to your gate...show your passports/tix again to be allowed INTO your gate.

I would use the 'get to the airport 3 hrs' before your flight as your guideline. Also remember that plenty of airlines change the times of their flights this far out--our flight home ended up being 2 hrs earlier than when I booked it...and I had to change the flight going to Copenhagen as we were left with an impossible 18 minute connection time due to flight changes...

Honestly, you can probably make it but I would not risk it. DCL does not own the terminal so things are not as smooth as in PC. For example, they do staggered walk off, and the luggage of the later groups is still being taken off when the first guests get off. The pier is deep inside the port and far from the airport. Lines for taxis get really long once you are out. They offer shuttles but the entire process is a bit of a mess.

We are part of the ABD group for this cruise so I'm not worried about luggage and staggered walk offs. Transport is already part of our pkg!

When we flew out of Copenhagen the airport lines were SLOW! The line to check in and drop luggage was over an hour long. Security was slow as well. I wouldn't risk it.

I would actually check with ABD, if you're going to use their transport they may not allow flights before Disney's time of 1PM.

I talked to them and they said it was a suggested time set by DCL and ABD didn't have their own time
