Coolers

I really need a clarification. I have read several posts that Disney allows you to bring collapsible coolers. However, we got our literature last night and it says "coolers containing personal items (e.g. soda or snacks) may NOT be brought onboard." I was planning on taking my own caffeine free diet coke onboard and thought it wouldn't be a problem. Do they just put this in writing and not enforce it?
Also, if anyone could tell me, if the ship is cold. We have only been on one other cruise and it was so cold in the dining rooms and the theaters. Is that the case on the Magic too?

Thanks

The literature says that you cannot bring a cooler, but anecdotal evidence suggests that they do allow soft-sided coolers. I have no personal experience with this. We carry on beer/soda in a backpack, and pack a collapsible cooler in our luggage. We then have the room steward fill the cooler with ice to cool everything down, then transfer to the room "fridge" to keep it cold. We only carry on enough to get us to the first port. We don't bother carrying anything on with the western itnerary, since you stop in Key West the first day and can stock up there. On the eastern, we re-stock when in St. Maarten.

Regarding the ship's temperature, while cold is a relative thing, I would say that the indoor parts of the ship are "cool." I always set the AC in our room as high as it can go (i.e. the warmest setting), and the room is still plenty cool for me. The theaters seem to me to be chilly. I've never thought that about the dining rooms, though. The main thing is that the outside temperature is usually very warm and humid, so the ship seems cool by comparison.

I will be taking diet sodas with me for medical reasons (allergies to DIet Coke) and have been told it is acceptable. I also will be carrying a smaller cooler with my meds that must be kept cool. I have been told this will not be a problem either.

Are you talking allergies or just side effects from the artificial sweetenrs? I'm curious.

Aspatame makes me very ill to the point of needing to be hospitlized and unable to walk. Allergy or whatever it is deadly for me. Thank God they now have Splenda

Fair enough, GI symptoms to the artificial sweeteners are not allergic but can be a big deal. Good luck.

Is it maybe that the issue is trying to put coolers with food/drinks through the security machines??

We're planning on taking the drinks in a rolling carry-on suitcase, with the soft sided cooler collapsed inside another suitcase.

Dean it is not GI symptoms. It is muscle weakness and pain as well as swelling. I could deal with GI symptoms.

Interesting, will have to check into it more.
