Does anyone know if they allow a cooler as a checked luggage on a plane? We thought that we could bring our cooler packed with dry goods and then use for cold stuff once we get there............

Yup...shouldn't be a problem. We usually do that each trip, and then just bring it back with the "must have" treasures packed in it.

This is great news...I was hoping we could bring one...

Thanks tonysgal34 for asking a question that I forgot to and would have been panicking over the night before.:wave2:

Yes, you can, but I guarantee that it will be opened, in fact, you will not be allowed to check it unless you open it up and allow the skycap or checkin agent to inspect the contents first.

The reason for this is that ice and dry ice are forbidden in the holds of planes unless certain special packaging has been used and the package is paid as cargo. They have to visually inspect to make sure that there is none in the cooler before it can be checked as luggage.
