cooler on castaway cay

On Dream last week they weren't that size. They were more of a fat cylinder. About $13 empty, and available at any bar from embarkation on. And yes they were selling them near the towel distribution point on castaway once you got off the ship, and at the bars as well.

We had waters in our backpack, and the bartender filled our new cooler with ice and put our waters into it for us.

We bought one our first cruise and acquired another that was left on the beach from the family behind us with all their empty bottles scattered around. That first cruise leaving the beach really late in the afternoon, we sadly could have found more than we could carry back in coolers in "considerate" people leaving behind their discarded cooler bag with assorted garbage and empty drink containers.

BTW both our coolers leak (they are not intended to be water tight as the stitching does not hold in any liquids loose - or ice that melts - inside). They make great car coolers (when buying small size freezables at the supermarket) but we'd never use with ice again outside of putting in a container or Ziploc that a PP mentioned.

We bought one on Castaway Cay last week and I really like it! It's different then the one pictured here, but also navy and red, kind of looks like the DCL smoke stack We bought it empty and it was $11.95 plus bar gratuity so came to $14+. You could have gotten it with 4 bottles of water for $20+tip.
I'm looking forward to using it this summer at home, it's perfect for the car.

Can I bring my own small soft-sided cooler from home if I don't feel like buying a disney one? Is there a mini-fridge in our rooms (where I can keep my home-brought beverages cold)? Can we get ice somewhere on the ship to put in the cooler?

It's funny, the whole no-coolers thing. They sell them on the ship. Do they expect we won't bring them back? Of course we will. We only bought this one because we forgot to bring our RCCL cooler with us, which we wanted to hold our cold waters for CC. Of course we'll bring it back.

They say "no swords" either, and yet nearly every kid on pirate night had a sword. Especially since they SELL them.

20 bucks for six waters and they refill it with ice. Bought mine as I got off the ship and was heading toward the starting line for the 5k. Nothing sells water like sun and humidity! A nice cooler though. You won't feel ripped off.

I have one of the old coolers that I use for a lunch bag for work. I have had it several years now. It was one of the old rectangular type. I believe they are cylinder shaped now. At least they were last year. I may have to break down and buy a new one this year. It does have the DCL logo on it.

KTTW card. In fact, I think you have to use your card for purchases from the various stands both shipboard and on CC.

Pick up what? A Key To The World card? You'll get that when you check in at the port as that is your cabin key.

Coolers are still available, not just on the island but the boat as well. They look like this. Don't remember the costs.

I thought DCL banned coolers except for medical supplies, because leaking coolers damaged too many carpets in the staterooms.

Disney sells them while on board and on the island, and I know the rounded designs did leak, this new version doesn't seem to as much when full of ice.

That’s the cooler bag that we “purchased” on the EBTA along with 12 bottles of Evian. I say “purchased” because in checking my folio and charge slips from the cruise, it does not appear that we were actually charged. I know the cast member selling them on deck 9 scanned my KTTW card and the cooler bag filled with ice and 6 of the water bottles and the other 6 bottles were delivered to our room later that afternoon. I didn’t realize that we hadn’t been charged until just now when I wanted to check the pricing. It was easily missed with all the charges on the folio for this 13-night cruise.
