Cooler Alcohol Clarification!!!!!

Marcy....no cruise line lets you purchase bottles of booze onboard and let you consume it onboard...they all hold your purchases until the end of the cruise.

DCL is one of the more lenient cruise lines that let's you bring and consume your own alcohol onboard.....most cruise lines do not.

Just remember to keep your carry on cooler a reasonable size. Not only do you need to carry it (or drag it) around until your cabin is ready, it needs to go through the xray machine at the port along with all your other carryons.

Thanks for the clarification -- I had no idea of this rule. I recall buying a lot of booze and drinking a bottle onboard on a RCCL ship, but we must have bought it at St. Thomas.

P.S. I must sound like a lush from the above! We bought bottles for holiday gifts, not just for our own consumption!

I probably won't get a mother-of-the-year award for this but we put an entire case of Old Milwaukee in DS6 small rolling suitcase! He pulled it onto the ship for us and was none the wiser! We didn't tell him what was in it and my husband and I laughed about for a couple of days. The cardboard case fit perfectly without even having to open it! CM's were commenting on his cute Toronto Maple Leafs suitcase ~ if only they knew what was inside!

I bought a large collapsible cooler with fold down wheels from QVC. We fit 2 cases of beer in it & had no problem boarding the ship. The funny thing was, when I went to lift it up for the x-ray machine the guy could tell it was heavy, so he picked it up for me. He stated "you need 2 men to carry this", I said yeah I know, & those 2 men are returning our rent a car ( my DH & his brother, it was there beer). I also carried 3 bottles of TGIF mudslide onboard with no problem. The only thing I was told was not to carry the cases of beer on board, (still in their boxes) hence the reason they were in the cooler. Also, don't leave your drinks unattended for too long. One night we were playing ping pong & one of the CM's threw out 2 full glasses of Mudslides because she hadn't seen us at the table for at least a half hour. Meanwhile, no one was on the deck but us, she could have just walked over & asked if they were ours. She did get us 2 new mudslides though when I complained. Kathy

Remember I was one that brought my smoothie maker with me.. We had a party up on deck 9 by the adult pool.. the CM even remarked that our smoothie makers were better then the bar had,,lol
We had a bit of a hard time to find a outlet near by,, but a DISERs room on deck 5 close to the elevators worked great.. we partied for close to 2 hrs... WTG Kathy,,, remember protect the mudslides at all cost....
