We're currently booked at VWL for Feb 2004 and I am really looking forward to staying there.

My kids really like the pool at BCV and want to stay there so we are on the wait list for BCV.

I would like to convince my kids to stay at VWL and cancel the wait list for BCV. Is there anything at VWL for them that would not be available at BCV that I could tempt them with?

do they like animals - fw use to have a pony come to visit - also WL has it own share of wildlife. very friendly - too friendly - some of the animals will come up very close - close enough to pet - so warn your children that these are WILD animals.

forgot

the EWP (Electric Water Pagent)

they also have fun stuff during the day - a duck race -

The SAB pool is the best. No question about it. But the main pool at WL is really good too. If your children are younger (say 10 years old or less) a surrey bike ride to Ft. Wilderness is a great way to spend a few hours. FW has a petting zoo, and pony rides ($3.00 / cash only for the pony rides). Our daughter was nearly 3 when we went in May 03 and she loved it. Also, every day she had to stand on the bridge in the lobby, make a wish, and lob a couple of pennies into Silver Creek. It's hard to compete against the SAB, but if you do choose WL, I'm sure you and your family will have a great time there. We absolutely love it.

Rent a pontoon boat, and go for a family boat ride on Bay Lake, and let the kids steer. Better yet, rent water mice (kids would be passengers). How about kids fishing excursion (ages 6-12).

VWL is closer to Magic Kingdom... Offer more MK fun! ... Rent bikes and explore Fort Wilderness... Lots of fun stuff over there!

When we were there in January we saw more than a few kids enjoying the hidden Mickey Hunt around the lodge...we, errrrr, ummm....well, well we even had to ask a few kids to point a few Mickeys out to us. But they seemed to be enjoying that.

Also the Electrical Water Pageant every evening is a treat. Can't get that at BCV!;)

They have planned activities in the kids club at the WL for them to do also. We didn't have time to check it out, but they were craft like activities.

We haven't stayed there yet, but we want WL to be our next resort. We are hoping to be a 'flag family' one morning (get up early and help raise the flags on top of the resort). We also love Fort Wilderness, and going over there one evening for the campfire would be a lot of fun. We did camp at FW and got to enjoy the campground then. Oh, and we want to try out Whispering Canyon for dinner one night, it looks like a hoot!

Try to catch the Travel Channel's episode of Great Hotels on August 18th at 3:30 (eastern time). They will be showing the Wilderness Lodge. After seeing this show, we all wanted to go!

The pool at WLV is great. However, if you are staying at BCV you can probably have both pools. You could go over and spend the afternoon at WL and still be able to have access to SAB.
Maybe if you don't mind moving you could split your trip.:Part WLV and part BVC. Just a thought.
