In the gift shop in AK near Dinosaur they have a " Make your own Mr. Potato Head ". It was 16.00, but it is really cute! The CM packed the box up for me-she said you can take as many parts as fit in the box, so make sure you have a CM help you out with this. There is a Sorcerer Mickey hat, ears, Mickey sunglasses, Mickey sandals, Mickey bar, Disney autograph book, and Mickey camera. We had fun playing with all the pieces in the gift shop too:D

They also have one of these stores at DD. It's a whole store just for making your own Mr. Patato head. It is really a bargain for all the pieces you can fit ina box. I think I was able to cram every single piece they had into the box.

The store in DTD is Once Upon A Toy, but it is not a whole store of Potato Head, just a large area up front. Last summer the price they had was $12 for all the pieces you could stuff in a box.

Just curious - how many pieces did you actually get? This sounds like a good deal, depending on how big the box is, I guess. I'll have to look for it next time around.

We got 42 pieces in our box. We got one potato and lots of extra Disney themed pieces (be sure to get extra arms, they have the right holes in them for the Disney parts). After you get home, you can go to Wal-Mart and get another potato head set for about $5.00 and make up extra sets of Disney potato heads for gifts. :earsgirl:

Thanks for the great idea,
We did this in March and I never thought to get just the Disney pieces and add cheap Potato Head to make up gifts for people, I will be using this idea for our November trip to send to Nieces and Nephews who will be going to WDW in June 2004( I think I feel a June trip coming into my future....Of course, I think I would also like to try that DL place, so who knows.)

We did this at Once Upon a Toy in DD and We got alot of pieces in our box, the castmember at the register kept looking in our box and sending us back for more pieces to shove in there. My kids thought she was the best since they were spending there money on it, they really appreciated her assistance with there getting the biggest bang for there buck!
She also was incrediebly(?)helpful with telling my son, who was going to do the Lincoln log boxes that they had 3 sets reduced that he could get for the same amount, if not more pieces and these at least where Disney themed, with the boxes of logs, you didn't get anything Disney, with the sets you got all the main Characters(Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy etc) dressed as Cowboys and Indians.

I think this is one more thing that has amazed us about WDW it doesn't matter what budget you are on, they are always willing to accomodate and assist. After the first trip I have never given my kids more than a $40 spending limit and have ALWAYS had castmembers who knew just the perfect item within there budget, while at the same time pleasing a mom who doesn't want to bring home something I could easily pick up at Walmart!

Here's another tip for Mr Potatohead...... Make sure you open up your "potato" and put parts INSIDE of the potato!! Leaves more room in the box for more parts! (Must credit another poster. got this tip on the boards here last year). :)
