We will be there June 1, 2016, staying in a cabin. I've ordered some food from Garden Grocers. We are planning on cooking out a couple of evenings. Is charcoal sold on site or should I order through Garden Grocers? We've been to Disney many times but this is our first time at Fort Wilderness. We are excited!!

:welcome: to the Camping Board, eacody. :disrocks:

Here is a picture I took from last January (2015): 8# for $8.95 at the Fort Wilderness Meadow Trading Post. So see what it costs on GG and buy based on price:

Oh, you might want GG to bring the beer for the cookout since the TP has singles for $6 each.

:crazy2:

I didn't snap the 6-packs of cans below but they were equally expensive.

Thank you! Of course, I didn't forget to order the alcohol from GG!!

But at least the 6 pack is cheaper then the singles. 3 singles and you got your 6-pack. Not sure if they are trying to promote sobriety by making it real expensive or if they are trying to promote drinking more by encouraging the 6 pack at a "Buy 2 1/2 get 3 1/2 free"?

Although I don't drink too much while at Disney or the Fort, I prefer to bring it with me. That's why I like bringing a camper! Lots of space/storage and no "Additional Checked Baggage Fee" :)

Both Hess/now Speedway on site is alot cheaper (one by boardwalk and one by the MK gates/exit area) than nay of the resorts and the closest for a quick berr and other drinks run... But the Winn Dixie has a ABC in front of it and only ten minutes away.... And the Super Target past Animal Kingdom is always a nice trip too as it has a HUGE disney section in the front and a great way to get cheaper disney shirts and etc....

As far as charcoal, we have always just gotten match light so we don't have to mess with starter. but you will need a lighter or matches lol.

Another thing we like to buy are grill grates or mats. They go over top of the giant round grill top and provide a much cleaner space to cook on, plus easy clean-up. I hate grilling on foil, but we have done it and poked holes in the foil so the grill/charcoal flavor can get through and the grease can drip down.
