Cooking at Disney?Please help!!! My cousin is going to culinary school..

and she has an opportunity to do coop at disney in march 2008 thru aug
she stated that she gets free room and board and meals. Park tickets free also and a % off merchandise. My question is what family type perks will she be able to get like room and park discounts etc.. If there is anyone who know first hand and would like to not share with everyone please pm me.

I have a feeling no one knows the response.

However, if your cousin is on an internship I would think they are not considered Disney employees so they may get no other "deals" for family members. I think you will just have to wait and see what they get told at thier orientation.

My DH went to culinary school here in New England, there is a mandatory 3-month coop capstone to the degree. Several of the students from the school have gone down to work at WDW over the years. I was encouraging him to go for it (not sure why I wanted DH to go to WDW for months without us).

Anyway he heard from people at the school (so this is anecdotal) that it's shared room and board (dorm style, you're not staying at a resort), minimum or close to minimum wage, and they work you like a dog. One of the students from the school had actually gotten so disgusted he walked off the line (a huge, firing type of no-no at any restaurant) at the Grand Floridian.

I still think it sounds fun, but what do I know, I'm not a cook!

I can't imagine that the room and board is free. On the College program you stay in Disney apts. and the rent comes out of your paycheck weekly.

They get room discounts but there are only so many rooms available for discount so sometimes it is actually better to book your own room with a code. The same for tickets, the discount isn't all that great.
