I've been debating on trying Boma for a couple of years and ever year we chicken out and go for the "safe" dinners we already know. Is the food really that good there?

We went in Oct (full review and pics in my link), since we love Boma breakfast so much we thought we would love Boma dinner....boy were we wrong. The meats had too much vanilla and cinnamon flavor for us, the soups were blech and the salads were blech, the desserts were ick too.....sorry I cannot be more help with getting you to try it. I will say the falafel balls were awesome and so wasnt the bread pudding.

Yes, yes, yes it is...especially if you are a soup fan....bottom line is they have interesting things without getting too crazy and if you find things too spicy or exotic or whatever, you can retreat to the "safe" stuff (non-spiced beef, mac and cheese, salad etc.)...we make a point of going EVERY trip and love love love it...btw, we go with my girls who are currently 6.5 (twins) and a 4 year old. (we have been taking them since they were barely walking, fyi) ...there truly is something for EVERYONE... I cannot recommend this restaurant enough....

I have to say I love Boma for breakfast. It is the best I have had in DW, however, I also like it for dinner (but not as much as b-fast). I agree, the food is different but perhaps different is what makes so many love it. I stick with the traditional food when I go, I like the carving station (whatever meat it is that day) but I do not get any of the sauces. That is me staying safe. My husband loves them though, so to each their own. I also like their tossed salad and dressings, but don't care for their other salads. Love their fresh fruits and of course their desert. That really is the best part to me. I love their cobbler of some sort and their zebra domes. They also have good tarts, or something like that. My husband loves a lot more than that, he is more adventurous than me. Most of their traditional dishes have a sweet spice to them that some do not like, others too as you know really like it. I think it is worth a try, perhaps try breakfast first and see what the atmosphere is like and then go for dinner another trip. You will always wonder if you never try it! Good luck on your decision.

We really enjoyed Boma. It is very interesting & different food, but we thought it was very good. It was a nice change from the standard buffet fare.

Loved dinner there and recently had the breakfast. You can't go wrong with either meal. Personally I would do dinner first as it is more unique. Once you love that you'll want to try breakfast like we did.

I skipped dessert there, just had more goodies from the real food buffet. We'll be back in August and just not sure if we'll do dinner or both meals this time.

It depends upon your personal tastes and any food allegies you may have. We tried it, but there were very few things I could eat that I thought were good. I have reaction to coriander and cilantro (same plant, different parts). That had me crossing a lot off the list of edible items. On the other hand, Jiko is one of my favorite places.

and Honestly we loved the soup.

Everything else, was.. Ehhh.. Not worth going back to us, I got the Soup recipe and I can make it at home..LOL

It was a experience and we are glad we did it, Got to look around the resort the animals..

On to other things..
This year we are doing Tempen Edo..

Be adventurous. There was nothing there that was that unusual. Try a little bit of everything. You may actually love it. If all else fails there have mac and cheese and chicken nuggets.

I went last September an am not an adventurous eater. I will not be back. Food was to funky for my tastes. :scared1:

Boma is amazing! My favorite place to eat on property. The soups alone are worth it, but they also had the absolute best ribs I've ever had. It's funny, on the same trip that I had the ribs at Boma, I also had the absolute worst ribs I'd ever had as well - at Cosmic Ray's.

We really like it, even DW who is the pickiest eater in all of God's creation. But I can see where it might be a struggle for some folks.

You absolutely won't know until you try it for yourself. If you don't like it, you won't have to go back ever again.

I would recommend you don't listen to anything any of us have to say.:rotfl2:

As you can see from the posts it is either the best place around or the restaurant from Hell. The reality is that everyone has different tastes and the only person you should trust is yourself.

Our family thinks Boma is hands down the best buffet at WDW, but as I said earlier.... DON'T LISTEN TO US!!!!

We ate at Boma for dinner and I recommend the Breakfast. I have heard so many great reviews over the Breakfast and dinner was just so so. I love the soups though...I have also made the African Stew recipe from the boards and it was awesome.

My wife and I ate there in October for dinner. We absolutely loved it.

I have eaten at some other buffets at DW, but Boma is unique.

The food is different than anywhere else in WDW, has a great mix of flavors. I can understand how some people, those that pretty much hate all spices or herbs, and eat nothing more adventurous than burgers and chicken nuggets and mac and cheese would not like Boma. Even though, like most Disney buffets, even those people can find something to eat.

For those that really like international food, and eat at really great international restaraunts regularly in their home city, they might want to skip Boma and eat at Jiko instead. Although you see in this thread a lot of people complain that the food was too unusual or too spicy, others may find the food at Boma to actually be too bland. It all depends on what you like.

We aren't big on buffets at all, but we LOVE Boma for dinner. It's been a must for us since it opened!!! The food is wonderful and different from what you find everywhere else. The soups are so good and all the meats as well. I usually have to be rolled out of there...:rolleyes1

Went with a group of 7, 4 adults (50, 40, 32, 32) and 3 children (5,4, and 2) and everyone LOVED it! It was number one for all of us! It will be a staple every time we go.

I LOVED mostly everything, there is a huge sleection of food, and you can try African food! The restaurant has a nice ambience too.

Here's my experience...

DW and DDs (now grown) are about the pickiest eaters you'd ever meet. We're talking "potatoes can't touch the meat on the same plate" kind of people. We're talking "no sauces, no spices, no nothing--just meat & potatoes" kind of people(salt may be allowed, maybe a little butter on the mashed potatoes). I'm a foodie and will eat and enjoy just about anything. We all love dinner at Boma big-time. It's probably our favorite WDW restaurant now. DW and DDs pig-out on the meat and "potatoes with Afritude" and I enjoy everything else. Seriously--the soups are fantastic.
You'll probably enjoy the dessert section too.

I wish I could get my group to try the Boma breakfast, but I'm the only breakfast eater in the group,
