Convince me All Star Sports will be ok

We like Sports just fine, It's nothing fancy but we really only sleep at the resort. My kids loved the football section. They played football several nights with the same group of kids and had a blast! The room was small and basic but it wasn't dirty. We will be there again in 2 weeks for 10 nights!

All Star Sports is my husband's favorite value. It can get loud because of sports teams traveling there for events- and you are going during spring break so that may be an issue for you, however we have stayed at values over spring break and other school break periods and I never felt like it was overly noisy. It might be helpful to call and see if you could get a room on the top floor and off at the corner if noise if a concern- we had a room like this at Pop last visit on complete accident and it was dead silent!

Just got back last night and been there mostly lately. NEVER had any issues with noise (don't go during the "sports/cheer" time), food court has been no different than any other value .... takes a bit too long but overall fine, buses ran fine and now have time tables screens, pool was empty .............. room very fresh and clean. Would not hesitate at all. POP has always been my favorite but right now Sports is offering the best deals and fresh rooms.

I agree with the PPs & particularly with @HopperFan. I was at Sports in mid Sept & thought it was very good and comparable to POP. I was in the Hoops Hotel area and found it a bit shorter of a walk to the buses/main bldg than the 50s in POP. The room interior at the All Stars is the same as at POP. I found the buses to be a bit more efficient at POP but that may have just been my unique experience. I also enjoy the easy walk to/from Art of Animation & its cafeteria when staying at POP. However, the actual onsite accommodation and experience at Sports was very similar to POP & I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Sports. Do check out the AS Sports thread because the DIS'rs there are up to date with information & incredibly helpful.

My wife and I stayed there a couple years ago with our son who was 6 years old and he had a blast between the pools and football field.

We love Sports. I always request the baseball section. The only noise problem we've had were the people in one room repeatedly letting the door slam behind them when they were loading their car to leave at 5:30 am and that would have been a problem anywhere.

The resort size is great. We have always been in the baseball section and it's a nice walk to food/busses. Not long at all. The quiet pool is right there. We usually start our trip there because it's hard to think of going to WDW without going to Sports.

Buses are fine, if it happens to be slow and you share a bus with the other All Stars you will be first on/first off. Noise, it can be noisy but an hotel can be just a chance you take. We are staying the week after you check out and we have stayed at all the All Stars and POP and chose this hotel for the small size (less walking). Food court, same quality as the others... Don't worry and have fun it will be low crowds and nice weather.

And DON'T request Touchdown! during a Cheer Comp!lol:)

I've stayed at All Stars several times with my family and we've never experienced any real issues with the hotels. (The only reason we don't stay at All Stars any more is that being in the UK we get deals on the dining plan if you stay at Moderates).

For All Stars, the buses are fine, the staff are usually friendly and helpful, the rooms are clean, the food is nothing special but nothing terrible, and the themed areas are fun for kids, or if you're an adult who's really into Music/Movies/Sports.

The only issue you might have is if there is a sporting event at WWoS. Our third time got busy for a few days because of this, but even then it wasn't unbearable as a) all of those involved were at the event and b) we were busy at the parks anyway. If you're worried about noise then you could request a room not on the ground floor which should help reduce foot traffic outside the room.

In general, I think All Stars gets unfair criticism by people who are expecting too much from what are the most basic hotels on property (hence the name "Value"). If you're out and about most of the time anyway then I doubt there will be any massive problems.

Enjoy your trip!

No doubt.

The values are great properties.

I think using the term "Value" to describe them is a big part of the "problem".

I think if Disney used "Tier 3,Tier 2,Tier 1" instead of "Value,Moderate,Deluxe" that would be better.:)

We are at Sports for the first time 2/24-3/2 and I understand your concerns. We've done POP before and latest trip was at Coronado. I don' t think I'd care as much, but we have brother-in-law and his wife and kids (first trip to WDW), mother-in-law and her husband, and other brother-in-law all traveling with our fam of 4. I'm the family planner, and put pressure on myself to please them all on our trips. I'm looking forward to Sports!

We've enjoyed all three of our All Star Sports stays! We usually stay either value or mod and just look forward to being at Disney first and foremost. Surfboard Bay is still one of my favorite themed pools on property in the value category. Trying POP for the first time in a couple of weeks and can't wait to check out that resort :)

I've been going between Sports and CSR for a few years. Sports is great for a trip where I know I will be in the parks

We are about to have our first stay at ASSp. We have stayed at many resorts and look forward to trying somewhere new. Thanks for your thoughts. dansdad- your fam reminds us of ours and your teenage boy coment is so true!

I prefer the All Stars to Pop. Smaller resorts, shorter bus lines at park closing (because they're all separated), bus sharing is rarely an issue, and less of a concrete jungle feel.

I "think" you'll be OK as far as Groups go-the "Contest Of Champions National Championship"starts 3/3 so they'll be arriving toward the end of your trip.:)

We're currently booked for a preferred room at ASSP but I'm thinking of changing to a standard since we won't be in the room long enough to justify the extra cost. Are either Home Run or Center Court fairly close to the main building? Also, if we choose Home Run, is it hard to get a room facing the pool? Thanks! :)

We stayed in the center court and home run section. DEFINITELY preferred the home run section. To get to center court the walk probably was the same distance, but to home run we got to walk through the touchdown field instead of walking by peoples rooms which I liked. I personally would prefer to stay in a nicer resort, but I will do anything to be in Disney and don't mind staying in a value when necessary. It's clean, nice staff, and you have a bed to sleep in (with mickey waffles a short walk away) can't complain for the price.

We added a night onto our DVC stay in August and stayed in a preferred room, surf section. I was anticipating a shoebox from the description, but the 4 of us found it to be fine for a night, and the beds were very comfortable ( more so than BC!)
We only grabbed snacks at the food court and walked by the main pool as we headed to MK, but it looked fine. Why they can't add a slide though?? :confused3
